A great CD!.......2003-10-31

For people who would like to get into Latin Jazz, but aren't quite sure where to start, this is a pretty good way to go. It begins with Tanga - ostensibly the "first" Latin Jazz tune composedm and works its way up to younger players like David Sanchez. Along the way it does a good job of touching upon major figures in the history of Latin Jazz and derivatives of such.

My only quibble is that they should have at least made this a two CD set. A lot of fabulous music was left out, and there's more than enough to create a set similar to the Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz.

Regardless, it may be only one CD, but it's a great CD. You should buy it.

A dynamite and winning musical partnership........2007-07-06

It was not their first collaboration but "Perfecta Combinacion" was aptly titled. The late Pete "Conde" Rodriguez' smoky, powerful and ever-soulful vocals were perfectly complimented by Johnny Pacheco's conjunto. This CD's standouts are "Sonero", "Como Cocina La Gorda" and the perennial favorite "La Esencia Del Guaguanco". This is classic '70s tipico-flavored Salsa at its best.

Este dico es un clásico de la salsa con los mejores artistas de esa época (`90) que aún siguen sonando fuertemente como lo son Marc Antony, India, entre otros. Es como estar en un concierto en vivo y las canciones son un clásico, estupendas.

Best salsa album ever.......2007-07-17

I own more than a thousand salsa Cds. If I had to pick my favorite, it would be this one definitely.

Salsabor!!.......2006-02-18

This has got the energy of a live album. A rare treat! I havent tired of it, and after ten years it is still in my top 5 salsa albums. The musicos are on fire and the salseros are very expressive, feeding on one other (the duet concept is terrific for this).

Too bad these days salsa (or whatever flavour-of-the-week it is called these days) is recorded on a computer, sounding slick but soul-less. But this CD is the real thing, amigo. It is accessible, commercial and full of sabor. Long live Sergio George! Too bad RMM has disbanded.

Trivia: this was recorded in a post-Arsenio-Hall era, as you can hear the characteristic "ooh ooh ooh" during the applause at the end of some tunes (you can just imagine the old fist waving then and there :-)

One of the "BEST SALSA" albums. Believe it!!!.......2006-01-28

This is one of the best albums of salsa ever put together. It's got rich sound, and voices that make your body move. While other CD's have maybe two three great songs, every song on this album from start to finish will take you on a tropical journey. No need for the skip button on this CD. Just pop it in sit back and listen. If you have never bought a salsa album buy this one! If you love salsa buy this one! If want to move to the rythem ... "You know the rest!"

Celia Cruz, Oscar D'Leon, Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, India...All great names in the world of Salsa. Hearing them sing together is a once in a lifetime event. There is nothing better than this CD, except seeing them live.

La Perfecta Combinación translated as The Perfect Combination comes as Yarey singer Chamy Solano and band leader Sal Perez join forces with trumpet virtuoso, and singer Joe King. With hot salsa arrangements and extraordinary lyrics, the new album is already getting high reviews from distinguished disk jockeys and radio stations in Orlando, New York, and Miami. Chamy Solano and Sal Perez got together around 10 years ago when they brought us the album Ponme a Gozar which received great reviews and went to the top of charts during the 90 s. Joe King, on the other hand, has been well established in the salsa industry as being the Music Director for the acclaimed salsa legend Hector Lavoe and later for Tito Nieves. King has also worked with prestigious artists such as Tito Puente, Ray Barreto, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, and Michael Stewart. Joe King also brought us the salsa version of Corazon Partio written by Alejandro Sans. With arrangements made by Willie Ruiz, Ramon Sanchez, P. Nunez, Joe King, and Jose Febles and songs written by Jose Feliciano, Monchy de Seda, Tato Vazquez, Ramon Rodriguez, Mike Amadeu and Sal Perez, the album proves to be an explosion of old style, danceable, and extremely hot Salsa.
