Great stuff, but not even their best..........2005-08-30

Samy y Sandra are the top "tipico" attraction in Panama. They are brother and sister, she actually being a lawyer (one wag suggested she dresses more like a defendant, and to that I say "Ahhh....si!"). Their music is, (as I understand it - this may be wrong), in the style of cumbia salsa. It is lively, melodic, infectious, and quite frankly it's the first time I've ever heard an accordian played in a way that I like. Sandra's vocals are quite accomplished - she has a strong, steady voice, and she clearly loves singing. The group appeared, ever so briefly and uncredited, in a movie called "The Tailor of Panama".

As much fun as this album is, their previous project was even better. It's entitled "La huella que dejaste", and it is fantastic! Unfortunately, I have not been able to find it here in the States - it was an impulse buy in Tocumen Airport in Panama.

I've read that Panamanian tipico is unlike andy other Caribbean salsa in that it is enjoyed by all generations, old and young. This is not an indictment - believe me. It is not "old folks" stuff. It's bouncy, saucy, and you will have to dance as you listen to it.

I recently saw them on TV and could not believe their music!!! Samy and Sandra Sandoval put on a great show and their rhythm is incredibly contagious... She is a great singer, but boy! can she dance!!!!

I strongly recommend "DALE DONDE MAS LE DUELA", their release with label FONOSOUND and UNIVERSAL MUSIC LATINO.
