Remixing the Fusion.......2000-09-26

Ever since Martin Chan from Volumen Cero took over at WEA's Latin alternative division, that label's compilation keep getting better and better. This time, it is an awesome collection of remixes from some of the most successful pop and rock acts in the Spanish speaking world. Besides gus gus, there are no big name DJs here. However, that does not make these versions any less stellar. #1 is almost identical to the original but with the rhythm track stressed. Tracks 2, 3 and 4 bear on heavy house rhythms. #3 makes this acid-jazz tune even funkier, while gus-gus brings # 2 into a more experimental dance beat. #5 is a break beat remix by Cromafactor. Tracks 6 and 7 sound more like actual songs that remix tracks. #6 is an awesome cross between South American folk and trip-hop beats, while #7 mixes trip-hop and d'n'b beats. #8 is a completely new version of L. F. C's amazing collaboration with Mike Jones (from The Clash). #9 is a big improvement on the original, stressing the electro-beats. #10 mixes nu-skool electro hip-hop with reggae and other Latin rhythms. # 11 is dub. Soda Stereo remix themselves for #12. Cromafactor also remixes #13. My favorites are 6, 7 and 2. Play this now!
