I've been Vicentico's Fan since LFC. And according the works of this masterpiece, I will always be. He's a got this wonderful way of singing and his poetry is ashtonishing. Along with Kevin Johansen and Andrés Calamaro, he's one of my favorites. Give yourself the pleasure to listen to Los Pajaros. Give yourself the gift of listening to a heart who sings , thinks, and makes you think too!

One of Vicentico's best works........2006-12-30

Once again, Vicentico shares his amazing talent, with great songs like Felicidad and El Arbol de la Plaza, using outstanding brasses, tropical beats and rythms, and with the collaboration of musical geniuses like Andres Calamaro.

You must own this CD if you are a Fabulosos Cadillacs and Vicentico fan.

Vicentico's open minded approach to music.......2005-08-10

During my last stay in Argentina half a year ago I read about Los Rayos from Vicentico, to me an unknown artist. Ever since then I have been playing this record many times with many of my friends and litte son (he loves the fast rhythmic song "Tiburon" (Shark)). The record gives you a wide variety of modern latin music, there is some salsa, cumbia (opening song "Los Caminos de la Vida"), pop songs and also folkloric sounds. Above all the song writing is of a very high level, original and never boring. Vicentico has defintely stolen my heart with this disc.

If you never purchased an album by Vicentico, purchase his two works as a soloist, "Vicentico" and "Los rayos" and save some time to the music store. Each album is so good that after listening to just one, you will go back to the store to get the other one!. Vicentico was the lead singer of "Los Fabulosos Cadillas" the best ska band in Latin America. With the years, they moved from Ska to other rhytms, from latin, rock, tropical, etc. They were a superb band. After Vicentico decided to go solo, I tought, and I think every other follower of his work, he will do another "Fabulosos" band. Damm!, we were all wrong!. He showed on his two works how to mix almost all of latin american rhytms in two more than great albums. I have a huge collection of rock in spanish albums and his work is some of the best in my collection. I think some of the best works by a latin american artist in the last years. Buy both of Vicentico's albums. If you never heard of his previous band, get "Vasos Vacios" by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs., a collection of their greatest hits.

Good cd, with some great songs worth hearing..........2005-03-08

Vicentico is an Argentinian artist who before trying his luck as a soloist was part of a really wonderful band, "Los Fabulosos Cadillac". "Los Rayos" is already his second album: the first was "Vicentico". In an interview, he said that he chose the name of the album on a whim, and that the title can mean something different to everybody: "Me gusta la idea de 'Los rayos'. No tiene un sentido que pueda ser pensado. Las cosas que me gustan tienen que ver más con un conocimiento oculto de las cosas. Son simplemente ideas o imágenes que tiñen al disco. Uno dice 'los rayos' y cada cual se imagina lo que quiere. Cada persona tiene una idea diferente de las cosas".

I found two of the songs included in this cd specially good: "Los caminos de la vida" and "Tiburón". I also like the fact that "Los Rayos" includes a collaboration of Mexican singer Julieta Venegas, an artist whose work I appreciate.

On the whole, this cd is interesting, but I cannot guarantee that you will love it, and that is the reason why I only give it 3 starts out of five. On the other hand, if I could get my hands on a "Vicentico's greatest hits album" that unfortunately doesn't exist yet, and that included the two songs I mentioned above, and "Se Despierta la Ciudad", "Culpable" and "Algo Contigo" from Vicentico's previous album, I would recommend it quite loudly to all those who cared to hear :)

So, it is up to you. If you want, wait (a long time) for a future release of Vicentico's most popular songs, or try to hear at least some of his songs now. Your choice...

los rayos exceeds my highest expectations.......2004-10-24

Vicentico's debut was outstanding, but Los Rayos proves that Vicentico is a formidable but accessable force of nature that had me hooked from the first note: with the complex composition of El Cielo that literally made my heart burst to the minimalisic/bare bones "country" influenced Soy Feliz. Vicentico's Los Rayos feels like sunshine from the soul mixed with the fury of thunderstorm.

Ever-beautiful and timeless........2005-12-17

This CD is an excellent choice for use as background music during a romantic candlelight dinner for two. "Anorado Encuentro", "Como Fue", "Una Aventura" and "Los Aretes De La Luna" are timeless bolero gems sung by one of Cuba's greatest singers. Vicentico has at times been compared to such immortal crooners as Billy Eckstine and Nat King Cole--once you listen to this ever-gorgeous CD.you'll know why!!!

El album de solista de vicentico es casi una obra maestra,aunque
tiene un parecido a "la marcha del golazo solitario".No se puede evitar creer por un segundo que son ellos,ya que vicentico compuso muchos de los exitos de lfc.este album se denota por su percusion.Y guitarras marcadas, cosas que no se escuchaban en lfc.Dejo el ska,la rebeldia de lfc.Y se aprecia un vicentico mas bolerista, pasivo.Un vicentico como el de "basta de llamarme asi" ,"el roble" o "saco azul" aunque tiene sus mambos es un disco suave dejando ver el vicentico que no se conocio mucho en sus años con lfc.Pero con el mismo sabor y energia que estando al frente de lfc.

A legendary bolero singer at his very best........2005-11-16

This was Vicentico's second album with Bobby Valentin's orchestra and it features such ever-beautiful boleros as "Experiencia", "Lo Vivido", "Anoche" and the title track as sung by one of the all-time greatest bolero singers. Vicentico's emotive and tender voice coupled with a silky-smooth delivery and near-perfect phrasing earned him the "Elastic Voice of Cuba" title and this gorgeous CD is among his most enjoyable works.

Album Description

Three CD collection from one of Latin America's most popular singers from the late '40s into the '80s with a beautiful baritone voice. He is known for being the lead vocalist with Tito Puente '49-53, performing on many of Puente's classic mambos on Tico and RCA.
