Wonderful CD.......2006-08-30

Dennis happens to be my flamenco guitar teacher. I don't agree at all with the previous reviewer's comments. I think the guitar sound is fine. But, actually seeing Dennis play in person is something to be experienced. He's such an amazing teacher. He's extremely articulate, very personable, but firm, and so amusing. He studied with Sabicas himself for many years and his stories about him are so fascinating. I hope he puts out more cd's because the whole world should know about Dennis.

Wonderful technique - bad instrument - bad sound.......2005-12-03

Mr. Koster's mastery of the instrument is wonderful. However, he sounds as though he's playing his flamenco music on a classical guitar - not an instrument made for playing flamenco music. The result is much like playing Scarlatti keyboard sonatas with the pedal to the metal.

Having given this record five stars, I must now state that I have not heard it yet!

But give me a chance to explain. Last night I turned on WNYC while driving home and heard Mr. Koster live at a WNYC sponsored guitar festival in Manhattan. And there is no way that a player of his inventiveness, emotional power, musicality and consummate skill could fail to create an extraordinary album. So I look forward to buying this one ASAP, and to hearing more in the future from this modern master of flamemco.

UPDATE:

I now have the CD and can say that it is every bit as good as I had expected!

Where does one find the song "POR TI"????.......2004-05-26

"Por ti" is a fabulous pop-symphonic track which first was released in 1989 in the first pressing of this disc. However, t has become impossible to find.

Do you know where to find it, even in a MP3? I'd really love to hear that song again. Anyone knows?

this is the best classic mexican cd you'll find. all of the best voices are in it, sasha, thalia, paulina, diego, and eduardo. the song i love is con todos menos conmigo, if you grew up with this great group, you'll know what is worth. Especially that it was produced with the Synpfonic de la ciudad de mexico.

Fair enough !.......1999-03-22

Although the album includes good songs and hits, the fact that the "Orquesta Sinfonica de la Ciudad de Mexico" played the music was not a very good idea, from my particular point of view. I was expecting the titles to be played in a very similar way to those in the early eigthies, and I got a bit dissapointed. However, there are two or three good songs, such as "Hoy tengo que decirte papa" or "Corro Vuelo me Acelero" that are great !!!

If you can't get the original 1989 Timbiriche clasico, this would be a good choice.

One of the better Mexican disco CD's in some time.......1999-02-01

As a classical music lover (especially grand opera), this music is a little out of my normal territory. However, it - along with La Onda Vaselina's "Entrega Total" - is quite medodious and easy on the ear; it is a delight to which to listen. My only negative is that it last only for 45 minutes. As the reviewer from Chicago indicates, plenty of room on the CD for the song "Por Ti" and perhaps other music.

I think they should have left the songs the way they were originally recorded. I wouldn't buy this CD with my best friend's credit card. If you are planning to remix classic tunes, instead of ruining the flavor that they have, you are better off reissuing them. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
