Professional Musicians With Outstanding Sound.......2005-12-23
I have seen the group many times, and have never seen such a combination of talent on one stage making beautiful music together. They engage the audience and their music has a quality that could get even those who are near paralyzed dancing. Amazing live, amazing CD. Also HIGHLY recommend the earlier CD Hi-Fi Latin Exotica which has a more Middle-Eastern quality to it. All of their music is great. The sometimes overlooked bass player/songwriter Paul Mrozek is my favorite of the group, but all of these guys (and gal) are very talented.
Excelente! Musica Por La Gente!.......2004-12-05
A fantastic band consisting of good looking gringos from Boulder, Colorado and bringing us the best in 50's mambo, cha-cha, and samba. A very fun band to see live or to listen to on your hi-fi.
This album, their second release, contains a number of good tracks including: Comet Samba, Sonar del Pelon, Banana Rum, Como Se Dice, and Enigma del Amor.
And if you like what you hear, be sure to check out the Virgina-based Bio Ritmo for a little home-grown salsa.
My favorite band will be yours too!!.......2003-04-14
Of all the available CDs by Cabaret Diosa (I have them all, plus!) this is my favorite-a difficult distinction, to be sure! Never have I considered myself "a fan" of ANY one band, yet now I am a fully willing "goddess-worshipping Love Cult" devotee! This is fun, it is joy, the attention to detail appeals to me, and has to anyone who notices such things. Get yourself to a live show as quick as you can (when was the last time you got to enjoy a band of TEN?), and get all the CDs so you don't EVER have to sit still, not in your car, not in your house, not at your workstation, and definitely not in your kitchen. Not only is the music fabulous, the shows are grand participatory events (bring your boa, you'll have even more fun!), Cabaret Diosa is tight, talented, and totally yummy!
Try it, you'll like it!
One of my new favorite bands!.......2002-03-13
Drawn by their website touting a "new mambo revival," I first saw this fabulous Colorado Latin/lounge/exotica combo in New Orleans. Their live show is a bacchanale of epic proportions, and this CD did not leave my player for months after my return home, even after I had memorized all the words (even the Spanish ones, phonetically!) Are they the most "authentic" Latin band out there? No, but if, like me, you think Xavier Cugat can co-exist with Martin Denny, The Hot Club of Paris and a splash of surf guitar, these guys and gal are one of my very favorite new bands. Unequivocally recommended to fans of Bio Ritmo, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Combustible Edison and Brave Combo's "No No No Cha Cha Cha" CD.
