Acclaimed mariachi singer Nydia Rojas lends her gorgeous vocals to a dozen or so standards by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel on Nydia, her debut pop collection. Rojas's connection with Gabriel began when she was 5-years-old (she used to perform his songs at East Los Angeles restaurants), but the pair didn't formally meet until years later, when Rojas was asked to open Gabriel's tour. The musical connection is evident on Nydia, which finds Rojas breathing new life into some of Gabriel's overlooked gems. The delicate "Siempre en Mi Mente" is an absolutely gorgeous moment, as is the midtempo "Me Gusta Bailar" and "No Vale la Pena," which features Gabriel sharing vocal duties. Nydia Caro's music stirs one's very soul. I don't understand all of the lyrics in Spanish, but it doesn't matter. It's pure Puerto Rican Paradise! She is one of most truly gifted and talented performers I have ever seen! And the pleasure and honor to work with.

This is a beautiful CD especially for folks that used to watch Nydia when she first started in "el show de las 12" in our beautiful island of Puerto Rico. She was a big hit and I am oh so happy to see that we are still able to get her music. Her stuff should sell! How about Chuco Avellanet ... you guys would make great $$$ if you had more of his music............

Long awaited.......2001-05-28

Nydia Caro, one of the singers from Puerto Rico leaving her trademark of beautiful songs "en el tiempo". Although this is not a greatest hits compilation it portrays some of her best ever. I remember watching "El show de Nydia Caro" every sunday night back in the day. Nydia has a different style, her songs are like poetry and she sings every note from the bottom of her heart. The instrumentation is breathtaking especially the flute played in many of her songs like "Duerme", "Me va, me va", "Cuentale" and "Un pueblo es". Classics like "Tu como estas", "Para vivir" and" Antonio" sound like new throught the magic of digital technology. I hope this is just the begining and we'll see all of her records released in CD. After all, Nydia deserve to be perpetuated for the delight of her many fans around the world.

Ah! the pleasure to hear those songs on CD!! Nydia Caro has one of the most beautiful voices in Latin America. Her style has had a keen influence in many baladeers. Her beauty, class, and elegance have always been admired. This cd has some of her best, and what songs they are!. "No Pudo Ser" sounds so fresh, so pure, so sweet, yet so heartfelt. In "Antonio" one can almost hear the sounds of the waves, so compelling Nydia Caro is singing a ballad. In "Para Vivir" one gets the impression that the voice and piano are coming from the same place, it is just such a perfect mix, like two instruments complementing each other.

In the dance tracks "Palabras de Amor", "El Amor entre Tu y Yo","A Quien Vas a Seducir", her voice is fun, engaging, and enchanting.

"Hoy Canto por Cantar" has not lost any of the strengh and appeal that had 26 years ago. What is interesting to notice that all these songs can be as captivating and current as when they were played in the 70's and 80's. They still could be welcome on the radio.

One misses so many, many, songs that were not included such as:"Me Gustas Cuando Callas", "La Novia Triste", "Para Cuando sea Mayor", "Amigo Despierta", "La Separada", "Vendra", "Quiero Bailar", "Alguien". I hope, wish, and pray that her whole Alhambra years would be on CDs very soon.

But just as a sample of this lady's talent, we have "Nydia en el Tiempo". After listening to it, you will run to get her other titles "Oro Romantico" a golden recopilation of her TH recordings, and "De Amores Luminosos" her 1998 masterpiece.

"Nydia en el Tiempo" is a classic which just as Nydia's beauty seems to be ageless, never ending.

To talk and write about Nydia Caro is to talk and write about class, beauty, talent, and a heartful voice. This CD contains some of her best work in the decade of the 70's and 80's. But, don't be fooled, these songs are timeless, classic that would fit on today radio waves. What a pleasure is to hear "No pudo ser" on a cd, how clear, how sweet, how pure her voice sounds. In "Antonio" you can almost hear the waves of the ocean, so meaningful and convincing Nydia Caro is singing a ballad. In "Para Vivir" both her voice and the piano seem to come from her heart. In the dance tracks, she sounds fun, light, and still enchanting. I first heard Nydia Rojas on the Satelight Music program that I have, I was in the other room and I heard the song Nuestra Fiesta, and I said to myself "Who is that"? I got into the other room in time to get the artist name. I agree I would love to have an album of her singing a duet with Alenjandro Fernandez or Pepe Aguilar. Those two doing a duet wouldn't even last on the store shelves. What a combo that would be. But they should be singing "Puro Ranchera" With a good Mariachi like Vargas or Mariachi America.

Looking for ranchera music, I came across Nydia Rojas. Wonderful! I like all of the songs on this CD, and the way Nydia sings them. Her voice is beautiful, rich, clear, and full. The production is very good. I will look forward to more from her.

AN OUTSTANDING RANCHERA ARITIST!!!.......2001-04-21

I purchased Nydia's first solo CD when it came out, and have been amazed with her talent since. She not only has endless natural talent, she is a student of her art. Nydia's obvious love of singing is prevelant in her music. I took my grandmother and my aunt to see her in concert, and they were overwhelmed. My mother has compared her on more than one ocassion to the fabulous (and in our opinion the true queen of ranchera), Amalia Mendoza. Amalia never got the attention she deserved, but I sure hope Nydia does. I can only compare her to Amalia and Maria de Lourdes. If you are a fan of Ranchera and Mariachi, you will understand what I mean when I say that Nydia "cries" when singing. I love her current album, but I hope that she will make an album of old Mexican standards, such as the one Luis Miguel did. It would truly bring Nydia the attention and respect she deserves. If you ever have the chance, go see her in concert!!!!!! WE LOVE HER IN TUCSON, ARIZONA!!!!!!!!!!

Nydia Rojas is a magnificent spanish/mariachi singer. Her talent is natural, and her voice is strong and powerful she can sing anything. In this cd titled "Florecer" , Nydia sings every song beautifully. My favorite upbeat songs are "Llevame Contigo" , "Que Te Vaya Bien" , "Dime Por Que" and "Tres". The ones that are ballad like and have a sensual sadness, yet pleasing sound are "Mi Llanto Vale Mas", "Amor Con Desamor" and "Te Equivocas". Every song is just a delight and I promise you, that you will not be dissapointed with this cd, it is a wonderful albulm of this talented woman. Nydia, you go girl and keep it real!!!!!!

John Lannert from Billboard said "This cd is destined to be a crossover smash," and boy was he right!

If you have never heard "La numero uno," you have to! The song is a spanish version of "The tide is high." It is a modern mix of pop, mariachi type that will send you dancing all day!

WOW,WOW,WOW, If you want to be enthralled by a haunting performance by an extraordinary singer, this is the CD to buy. Gloriously magnificent, what beautiful vocals to such deep and spiritual music. This is why Nydia Caro remains to be a top-notch

Frustratated because a cassette was sent and *NOT* a CD.......2005-07-05

Even if the musical quality is above average I had heard it just once because I dont like audio cassettes any more. For example, reaching and searching for a song is a painful experience these days. CDs are have random access to any track.
CASSETTES ARE OBSOLETE!!

It was frustrating to see the cassette (instead of a regular,normal and standard CD) when I opened the box.

This was the only disappointment. All the other items (CDs and DVD-Video) were super.

A Flight with Mystic Poetry into Music.......2003-02-21

Nydia Caro's performance is outstanding. She has grasped the meaning of the poetry of the Spanish mystics quite well as she selected the poems and the music. Her voice is pristine. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who is searching for higher meanings in life, and to those who love Spanish poetry. Do not forget that this poetry can also be found in English translations. San Juan, Santa Teresa and Fray Luis are the most important representatives of the Spanish Mystic Poetry. I have always enjoyed Nydia's records, and I am pleased that she continues producing great music.

De Amores Luminosos.......2001-03-27

Nydia Caro latest recording is a natural for a singer and producer of her high caliber. De Amores Luminosos is the best compilation of music that I have heard in any language (Spanish, English or German). Ms. Caro deserves greater recognition than the one she currently receives from her audience, because indeed SHE IS A REAL SINGER, COMPOSER, PRODUCER AND POET! A mix hard to find in these days.
