Novelist Cormac McCarthy's literary vision of the wild west is given wide-screen treatment by maverick director Billy Bob Thornton and a cast that includes Matt Damon, Penelope Cruz, and Bruce Dern. In his soundtrack scoring debut, he provides short, meditative instrumental pieces that are subtly explosive--rife as they are with strains of old-school country and bluegrass. Cinematic strings and orchestral percussion add a welcome menacing edge, augmenting the rustic approach without crossing over into a compromised "countrypolitan" sound. If anything, it might be nice to hear these themes extended. As it stands, the 23 listed tracks are covered in a little under 50 minutes, with many of the cuts barely lasting more than a minute or two. This is a must buy for fans of western soundtracks.It mixes beautifully symphonic music with Guitar music and spices it up all together with a south of the border flavor. Haunting music that will make you want to never take it out of your cd changer. It also
Features two vocal pieces, the first a spanish song sung by the very talented Raul Malo of the country group the mavericks, the second song is a beautiful ballad sung by Marty Stuart. Though I never owned any cd's of Marty Stuart he earns my respect with composing this film score.(cowboy hats off to you Mr.Stuart)

Truly Incredible.......2003-03-12

This album is a masterpiece. Within the first strums of the guitar, you feel as though you are among the southwestern hills. It has immediately become one of my favorites of all-time. The songs are filled with beautiful imagery, enchanting tunes, and haunting melodies. The shortness of the songs in unnoticable, as each song blends into the next, and the album itself serves as one epic journey. It is not meant to be listened to a song at a time, but as a whole. As I said, it is truly incredible. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.

Dentro de la aún acotada discografía que existe sobre música colonial, los trabajos sobre este repertorio que provienen del norte de Europa son los mejor interpretados, más creativos y de mejor calidad. Este disco no es una excepción. A diferencia de la mayoría de los trabajos realizados desde Latinoamérica que tienden a reunir música de toda América del Sur o, en todo caso, por países (hay que tener en cuenta que la actual división política nada tiene que ver con la administración colonial), el criterio bajo el cual se seleccionó el repertorio responde a una motivación real: música que se encontró y pudo ser interpretada en las Misiones Chiquitanas y Moxos en Bolivia.
Es el resultado de un riguroso trabajo cooperativo entre un musicólogo, Piotr Nawrot, y un conjunto de gran trayectoria profesional, Florilegium Musicum, al cual se añadieron cuatro cantantes provenientes de Bolivia con la intención de aportar cierto "nativismo" a la interpretación. De todos modos, éste rasgo (el nativismo) no llega a vislumbrarse en la interpretación ya que la misma no logra alejarse mucho de una visión europeísta del repertorio.
Las obras presentadas en el disco representan una verdadera novedad, ya que en su mayoría fueron grabadas por primera vez en este proyecto.
Una de las cosas más interesantes es el "plus" o premio final que es el reslutado de una improvisación realizada en los ensayos con sikus, guitarra y bajo.
Se agradece especialmente la incorporación de un DVD en el que se exponen detalles del montaje discográfico y de la investigación que se llevó a cabo para su realización.

Alejandra Guzman's biggest strength has always been the way she fiercely personalizes a song. Her unflinching approach to even the most casual lyric can makes an entire song crackle with a seemingly untapped electricity. Indeleble doesn't rock as hard as La Guzman's previous outings--including 2004's well-received Lipstick--but it's nonetheless an alluring, effective record. There's more focus on Guzman's gorgeously weathered vocals and delivery, which are perfectly suited for the disc's themes of bruised relationships and female empowerment. Particularly effective are the pleading strains of "Volverte a Amar," a tale of conflicted love; and the absolutely gorgeous "Necesito Amarme," a soulful anthem of self-worth and the album's undisputed crown jewel. Kick-off track "Quiero Estar Contigo" moves from a gentle guitar intro to a blaze of uplifting choruses and symphonic instrumentation, and "No Estoy Llorando" benefits from a start-stop vocal arrangement. "Bye Bye" is a refreshingly lighthearted moment, buoyed by Guzman's sexy delivery and impromptu vocal licks. From start to finish, Indeleble is the sound of a woman whose passion and person aren't likely to be washed away anytime soon. I think this is one of the best albums of Alejandra, it shows how much variety she can give us with romatic ballads and strong guitar sounds. She sounds beautifull and I always feel like I'm hearing the songs for the first time every time I play the CD. Great Alejandra!

Alejandra's new era........2006-06-27

I don't know if I can say that this is Alejandra's best album but it's definitely a very strong chapter in her career. I found a much more mature singer, more centered because even though I always liked Alejandra's music, I always thought that she sounds much better on songs that aren't so rock n' roll, and most of her biggest hits are the ballads. With this I'm not saying that when she rocks she doesn't do it right, she does but softer songs are simply a pleasure that she gives us.
"INDELEBLE" is not a sad album, it has has racket, electric guitars and all but it doesn't follow Alejandra's songs such as "DIABLO" or "LIPSTICK", it has more the style of "DE VERDAD" and songs of that type. It opens with "QUIERO ESTAR CONTIGO", one of the best songs of this production and like this track you can find "DEJALO" and "TIRANDO PIEDRAS". Within the touchy ones are "NECESITO AMARME" and the first single "VOLVERTE A AMAR" which gave Alejandra her first #1 hit in the U.S and topped almost every chart in Latin America. The album also became Platinum in Mexico on its release week and debuted in the U.S at #21 (Latin Albums Chart).
Alejandra recorded this album in Italy and what surprised me is that Alejandra didn't choose Desmond Child to produce it as he did on "LIPSTICK" and her Grammy Award winner "SOY", Alejandra now took credit next to Mike Mars and Loris Ceroni.
I wish this album gives Alejandra more commercial success in the U.S and Spain, it really has everything it takes to give Alejandra the opportunity to be on top beacuse she has lots of charisma, delivers her songs flawlessly and her voice is one of the best in the market.

Picked this CD up cheap with a Borders coupon because I was curious to hear Alejandra's music. If you're a Lila Downs, Lhasa or Atercipelados fan, this is going to sound obvious, very commercial, and a bit corny to you BUT it is worth checking out given Alejandra's high place in the Spanish-language rock pantheon. Serious listeners need to hear this if only to gain perspective. World-music hipsters....you have been warned...

It's live (for the most part), and full of ballads..........2001-07-25

Alejandra Guzman is known as the "Queen Of Rock En Espanol." Her deep, raspy vocals are perfect for the style of music she performs. I love this CD, and it doesn't bother me that the majority of the tracks are live. Unfortunately, it doesn't indicate this anywhere on the CD itself, so that's a little deceiving. There's a few songs where you don't even know they're live, until you hear the crowd applauding at the end. Also, if you're looking to "rock," then don't really expect to on this compilation, because most of the songs are ballads. All that aside, this is a cool CD, with some nice songs.

Alejandra is my favorite singer I love her style. Her music inspires. She is the best spanish singer of spanish-rock thats why she is called "La Reina del Rock en Espanol" a title that was given to the artist by the media in Mexico.Other good artist are "Mana" and Cafe "Tacuba".

This CD of Ale Guzman is one of the best you can have, all the songs are excelent.

Alejandra really knows how to make music and this cd is a proof of that.
The production starts with her 1994 hit "Mala hierba", the song sounds better than the studio version. Then comes one of the biggest hits of 1990, this song also gave tittle to her best selling cd, I'm talking about "Eternamente bella".
Ale added almost all her hits, except the one of her latest cd of those days; "Cambio de piel".
The best songs are: "Loca", "Despertar", "Te esperaba" and my personal favorite "Mirala, miralo".
There's an acustic set for her hits: "Llama por favor", "Rosas rojas" and "Cuidado con el corazon". There're also new songs like "No hay vacuna para el amor" and she invited for this occasion one of the most important voices of Spain; Miguel Mateos.
If you like soft rock or Alejandra, don't wait any longer honestley, get this one.

In general, I liked this cd, it's very rocker.But, I don't like "de verdad" song, the song is boring( and won the grammy for best song? ). In contrast, I love "diablo","soy tu lluvia" and "abrazame", good for Alejandra..Everybody must have it.

It took me some time to appreciate this album from Alejandra Guzman because I envisioned it as some cheap adult contemporary pop rock album thanks to Desmond Child being the primary producer. Even the videos for de verdad and diablo were just not enough to convince me.
I decided to FINALLY check it out FOR REAL and I have mistaken this album so much. It's one of her best. Great lyrics and as always a great unique voice that accompanies the music.
Volvere a amar is a song that can match the brilliance of one of her earlier hits titled Despertar.
Diablo is set to be a classic in her repertoire.
And labios de fuego just ROCKS in a whole erotic way!

Worth checking out!

ESTA SI CANTA.......2002-10-12

She is a singer, not metioning any names. Her voice and energy always gains attention. Alejandra has returned and she is hungry for being in the top againg and with an excellent album. Although I think you don't have to be in the top ten to have an excellent album because their are great albums out there that nobody knows about and its a waste no to give them a chance. But certainly that's not Alejandra's case because she is always fun, down to earth, controversial, etc,etc.... and the best thing is that this album is her; just like the other ones, this is the second album I buy of her and I regret not buying the other ones because she is worth listen to.

First off, its her first cd in about 2 years. And the minute you get it back on, A RUSH from title "Diablo". Oh Yeah!! Then you're hit with "Dime de verdad" amd you're hit with a much deserved "radio hit" for her in a long while. Yeah! But as you go in to the cd you get into more of a creative look into "rock en español". "Volvere Amar" the tearjerker of the cd is very good, finishing off with the last 2 tracks are very much her style...in a way. Its a good start for the new millenium...

Alejandra Guzman is known as the "Queen of rock" in the latin market.
She started her career in the late 80's and since then she had made hits.

In 2001 she released "Soy" (I am) an album with an ambitious production. Featuring Desmond Child (producer of singers like Cher) and Randy Cantor.
The first single "De verdad" (Truly) became a hit in Latin America. Followed by the second, also the hit "Diablo" (Devil).
"Soy" includes a good selection of songs like "Quiero vivir" (I want to live), written specially by Robbie Williams for Alejandra; the ballads "Volvere a amar" (I will love again), "Abrazame" (Hug me) and "Lluvia" (Rain) sound very good in Alejandra's voice.
The most rock n' roller song is "Diablo" the other ones like "Todo" (All), "Labios de fuego" (Fire lips) or "Caramelo" (Candy) are basically pop tracks.
I have some cd's of the Alejandra's collection and I feel that she used to be more rock and roller, now her music is softer, with her style of corse but not as in the early 90's.
"Soy" is a certified Gold and Platinum production and won a Grammy in 2002.

"Maria Alejandra" es el mejor CD en la carrera de esta exelente merenguera. "Me Equivoque" fue el primer tema en promocion de este disco, esta cancion fue un exito en balada por Millie y ahora en merengue por Maria Alejandra. El productor de este disco lo es el exitoso merenguero Tonny Tun Tun. Otros exitos de esta produccion son "Ya Tu Amor No Me Interesa", "Solo Recuerdos", "Me Has Echado Al Olvido", "Si Tu Te Vas" que esta tanto en merengue como en balada, la primera balada de Maria Alejandra. Uno de los mejores discos de merengue que he escuchado. Muchas felicitaciones para esta hermosa cantante.

Maria Alejandra se consagra como la nueva reina juvenil del merengue con esta su tercera produccion discografica. Con temas como "Si tu te vas", "Me equivoque", y "Me has echado al olvido", esta hermosa interprete de Puerto Rico nos toca el corazon y nos pone a bailar con su ritmo pegajoso de merengue al estilo de Olga Tanon y Gisselle Ortiz. En una excelente produccion de Tonny "Tun Tun" Castro, y con arreglos por maestros como el gran Ito Serrano, Maria Alejandra se coloca entre las primeras exponentes de este genero tan competitivo. Su potente voz y talento interpretativo es muestra de que Maria Alejandra nos estara deleitando con su musica y su belleza por largo rato. Este CD, uno de los mejores de merengue que se lanzaron en 1999, no debe faltar en su coleccion.

En esta su tercera produccion discografica, esta vez para Universal Music Latino, Maria Alejandra nos presenta un disco mucho mas maduro con temas bien bailables ya que por primera vez incluye merengue bomba. El productor de este disco lo es el merenguero Tonny Tun Tun. Este disco te gustara de principio a fin. Temas como: "Solo Recuerdos", "Ya Lo Veras", "Me Equivoque", y "Me Has Hechado Al Olvido" son buenisimos. Tambien Maria Alejandra graba por primera vez una balada "Si Tu Te Vas" que tambien esta en version merengue. Sin dudas este es el mejor disco de Maria Alejandra.
