The R&B/salsa hybrid known as boogaloo was extremely popular during the late 1960s and early '70s and most of the songs here reflect this. The inclusion of boogaloo-flavored tracks with traditional salsa numbers and slow tempo boleros make this album very interesting.

The best from their most prolific period........2004-05-11

This CD is a greatest hits compilation featuring most of Bobby Valentin's 1970s hits on which Marvin Santiago did the lead vocals. Although it's a fine compilation I highly recommend the original albums "Soy Boricua", "In Motion" and especially "Rey Del Bajo" ( all of which are currently available on CD) as these three classic albums are Bobby's all-time best works.

This is (to date) the best and most complete collection of Bobby Valentin's Fania recordings. Many of the tracks featured here ("Soy Boricua", "Papel De Payaso", "No Es Mentira", "Cuando Te Vea") are definitive Valentin masterpieces which have stood the test of time. This anthology is both a fine tribute to one of Salsa's most creative and innovative figures. Frankie Hernandez and Marvin Santiago are also prominently featured.
