El primer disco solista de este amigo nicaraguense ahora desde Miami. Si realmente les gusta es imprescindible. De otra manera, "Amor y alegría" retoma tracks de este disco en su versión CD. Un gran inicio que nos ha echo bailar ya bastante tiempo, descubriendo que además de talentoso percusionista es un gran cantante.
Es ahora el prícipe de la salsa.

FUN CD from a GREAT Band.......2006-07-11

I highly recommend this CD if you want to listen to great songs with lots of energy in both English and Spanish. I first encountered "Walter Suhr & Mango Punch!" 's sounds with the Pop/Rock album-I really liked it. This CD shows greater polish and sophistication. "Tacaña" sets off the album with great lyrics and a catchy tune (a poor guy loves his wife but she is really tight-fisted with their cash...). The second to last song "Fun en español" is also a blast. So is "Nothing, Nothing." All the songs are fun, and worth listening. I bet we will be hearing a lot more of Walter and his band. FANTASTIC!

For the die hard Raulin fan.......2003-10-07

As much as I really love Raulin's music, this is a big step away from most of his earlier albums. There is a lot more post-production in this one and I really prefer the albums you can visualize a three or four piece band playing live. Some of the lyrics are great though, and in particular, "Me Preguenta Porque" is a very poetic love letter. If you haven't bought anything by Raulin, then I would suggest his Grandes Exitos as a first album. I have seven of his albums, but this simply is not one of my favorites.

High class bachata.... deserves more than 5 stars!.......2003-01-20

"Derroche de amor" is another classic masterpiece by Raulin Rodriguez, the so-called "Cacique del amargue". Believe me there is no "amargue" here. This album is full of great rhythms, excellent vocals and fantastic musical arrangements. I expected nothing less from Raulin but really this album truly elevates his bachata to a dimension that few artists will share with him. Not only does this album stand as proof but he has 10 another productions to back up his quality and uniqueness as a bachata singer.

This album has an excellent selection of songs, as mentioned previously wonderful acoustics, smooth rhythms and great vocals by Raulin himself and his sister Casilda. "Derroche de amor" is a "hit" and confirms that Raulin is one of the most consistent and popular bachateros of today. He managed this achievement by his natural gift as a song writer and by the songs that have become bestsellers over the years. All of which have made his career a pathway to excellence. Additionally, bachata music has reached levels of international popularity never before in its history and Raulin is up there with all the other popular Dominican artists. The album is excellent through and through. Every song can be easily classified as #1 but personal preferences will dictate otherwise. Personally, I like the whole album but always hit the repeat button after #3 Me pregunto por que, #5 Si pudiera, #7 Me olvide de vivir, # 8 Ya no. This is great bachata not to be missed if you are a true lover of this music.

Raulin at his best!.......2003-01-14

On this CD Raulin once again reaffirms his standing as 'El rey de la bachata'! The music is fresh, and of course, Raulin's trademark lyrics are outstanding! The single "Me pregunto porgue" is outstanding and is already a favorite in the Dominican Republic, Raulin's home. There is a good mix of slower and uptempo bachata's. The sole merengue, "Hay bomba" is a great uptempo Dominican style merengue and a welcome refrain from cookie-cutter merengues that dominate the US music scene. In the Dominican Republic, Raulin is adored for the romanticism in his music. That is continued here. This a great CD for listening or for dancing.

For everyone who loved Jandy's voice on Chichí Peralta's classic album Pa otro lao must have definately heard his first solo album aswell. He just has the best voice arround and he knows how to use it. Just as the first album Jandy does great with both ballads and more swinging songs and the second album aswell. Songs such as Amor de locos, Pretendes and Dime que mas da will sure make you feel some emotions while songs like Si tu me dejas volver with definately get you wanting to be on the dancefloor.

Este album es mucho mas parejo que el anterior. En su album debut quizas habian canciones muy movidas y otras muy lentas. Este album muestra a un Jandy mas cuajado, con mejores letras y con una seleccion de temas mas uniforme. Resaltan : Lola, Los Amores, Pretendes, Cosa Bella, El Amor se menea y Si tu me dejas volver. Creo que este album es una version perfeccionada del primero, aunque siempre dentro de los mismos parametros (muy bien establecidos por cierto). Este CD reafirma las condiciones de Jandy como excelente compositor y cantante y creo que nos prepara para mucho mas a futuro....! Si compraste el primer CD no hay forma que este no te guste.
