For all you Icey fans who are used to hearing more upbeat danceable breaks, this album will definetly surprise you. This is more chilled out, mellow style breaks and most people wont understand the message behind this album.Allow me to explain. The whole purpose of this cd was to let his fans know that he was permanently coming down and cleaning up his act, while changing his music style.I have to give him an A for effort and you should too, check it out why dontcha. If you like dance music, chances are you'll like this, get it

5 out of 5 stars "....Icey's the 'mix-master' of the 'break's domain....'".......2003-07-07

Wassup, everybody? Just thought I'd give a plug to all you "technophiles" out there, who like listening to a good breaks album.
I really enjoyed listening to DJ Icey's latest album release "Different Day." With its funky break-beats and a little-tinge of "drum & bass," it makes for a pleasurable listening experiance. It's not overbearing by any means, unlike some of the progressive "hard-house" and some of the "nu-school break's" compilations out there. I'll go "out-on-a-limb" to say: Icey's the mix-master of the break's domain, by the impeccable-way he presents the material. I hope to see him spin some records, one-of-these-days. If you're down for some clean- fun with an ear for great music, then this is the album for you.

5 out of 5 stars CREATOR EVOLVES STYLE.......2003-06-13

dj icey is the creator of this genre and in many people's mind own the world of break-beats so he's experimenting with his style as long as he's been in the business I'd expect nothing less now from reading the other reviews it looks like a lot of people are trying to compare this to the essential mix but that cd is the work of many people put together that many breakbeat legends put on stage with an awsome director such as Icey nothing less should happen but with one man's mind at work this cd is Icey at his best even if yall don't like it the first time you hear it don't come on hear and put it down listen to it some more and you will realize that Icey is ahead of his time and his evolution of the style will lead many more to follow the king of break-beat music! TRUST ME!

1 out of 5 stars What a let down..........2003-05-14

Coming off the essentials "the breaks element", which really is mind blowing, This is WAY subpar. I was thoroughly disappointed with this release. He played a show in Charlotte 3 days after I bought the CD and only 1 track did he spin (track 7). The king of breaks will certainly be dethroned if he has another release like this one. C'mon Icey, you know better than this. Make way for the Plump DJs and Hyper. He tried to do some innovative stuff, but it needs something... Maybe a new track listing. Sorry Icey, you can still blow it up live. What happened bro? It hurts my feelings.

I'm a late comer to the boyzone scene. I avoid American pop at all costs, but Irish pop I whole heartedly embrace. Irish pop is different because boyzone (as clearly seen with this exceptional CD) laid the ground work as the first Irish pop group. All the vocals are good, but Stephen Gately's vocals dominate the CD by far, in both number and quality with songs like "Don't Stop Looking for Love." Songs like "Mystical Experience" and "Different Beat" show what a great vocal pair Ronan Keating and Stephen Gately created. The band may have disbanded officially in 2000, but thier music still exists in CDs like this one. (US edition of CD with Spanglish versions of "Words" and "Mystical Experience.")

I think this album is got to be one of the best if not the best albums I have ever heard. "Is'n it a Wonder" and "Mystical Experience" have to be the 2 most underrated songs that are out there. With a little more plublicity and special apperances they would surely be the biggest pop group anyewhere.

I love this cd as well as their two others. Ronan has a awesome voice and I like his accent very much. The lyrics in their songs are so true, it's unbelievable.

    Album Description

A Different Drum is proud to present this collection of synthpop songs which turns the focus away from the club dance floor and into the heart. Much of the electronic dance music released in today's market only serves one purpose-- to move your body. Though club music often gives the listener something to which they can dance, much of the appeal dies once the listener has left the flashing lights and loud sound systems of the dance floor. One of the strengths of the synthpop genre is that it not only caters to those who love a great beat and catchy hooks, but it also appeals to the mind, with meaningful and memorable lyrical content. Synthpop is also not entirely restricted to club use, but also uses electronic music production to create different moods for different occasions. We don't always feel like dancing.

The "Synthpop for a Darkened Room" series explores the songs that contemplate love, melancholy, questions, and answers. It's the kind of music that can move your mind and your body. You can leave the dark dance club floor and still enjoy these songs in a dark room of your own. Enjoy the emotional journey!

If you love danceable, high-energy synthpop, then you should check out A Different Drum's label samplers in the "Synthpop Club Anthems" series. Those collections pull together the most popular dance mixes and underground hits by some of today's top synthpop bands.

If you enjoy specific songs on this CD or on other collections, our hope is that you will show support for those favorite bands buy purchasing their album releases. These bands are all creating music out of a love for their art, and they are hopeful that one day they can even make a living while sharing their talents. This is a dream which can only be achieved through the support of fans. CD's by these bands can be purchased here at Amazon.com.

    Product Description

Raindancer presents their debut album, packed with high-energy synthpop. Fun, creative lyrics combine with a slick vocal performance and fast-moving synths to make a sound all their own. Not only will be you be dancing (even if against your will), but you'll have the songs instantly stuck in your mind. Raindancer has all the elements to become an electronic pop classic.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars "Sleepless" sums it up.......2005-03-16

This album starts with a high-BPM bang and never lets up until the final track. This is club-ready synthpop with catchy choruses that had me singing along after just a listen or two. If I were to compare it to any other band, I'd say it sounds similar to Beborn Beton. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I would bet money that "Sleepless" WAS a Beborn Beton song. Personal favorite tracks are "Regret," "Come With Me," "Sleepless," "Just a Warning," and the fun, retro "Everything and More." The weakest track by far is "Vampire." If you like your synthpop with good, strong vocals and a heavy dose of beats, this is your album.

5 out of 5 stars How did I miss this one for so long ?.......2005-05-19

I've been a big fan of Gary moore for a long time...I even have a vinyl picture disc of "G-force"...
But I am a little weary of his Blues format, I prefer the more Metallic Gary Moore, or especially when he tries, (and even fails) to go commercial, and does some really cool stuff. G-Force is my favorite of all, and also the Monsters of Rock DVD.....and the live Greg Lake CD is some of the best Gary Moore ever recorded....
Anyway, I stumbled upon "A Different Beat" as a used bargain, and wondered "how bad could it be?", and it looks like another to ad to my list of favorites...this after just one listen!

    5 out of 5 stars what a bargain!.......2004-08-10

hey i bought this cd here at amazon for a very low price.thinkining well if its at this low a price it must not be a very good cd?but its gary moore so it cant be that bad..well i am glad to say this is an excellant cd.the song "surrender"alone is worth what i paid.Gary as usual plays some dirty, mean ,low down, smokin' guitar!i hope Mr.Moore continues to experiment with his music.i found this cd a refreshing change and it reminded me of some of the most current work by (another awesome guitarist)Jeff Beck.i found myself thinkin' "what a bargain!"

'Avant-garde art music' is the best definition for Orquestra Popular de Camara; so Brazilian music fans anticipating a traditional pop sound may be disappointed: pop it is not. While the classical influence is evident throughout, the avant-garde jazz influences are also prevalent - and just when you think there's no Brazilian pop influence, a surprising samba will creep in.
