Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Del Rio Dan last song on the 1st side.......2006-12-01

My husband is the Del Rio Dan (McCollough) on the album. This song was written by Jeff Kent and Doug Loubon in NYC in the 60's. They wrote the song about my husband and Rothchild purchsed it and put it on this album. Each song is great! Not a bad cut on the album.
I recomend this album for every generation. Christmas Eve Can Kill You (you can relate to this one)and the Stories We Could tell - "sitting back in some hotel listening to the stories we could tell" = great song! One of my favorites it Mables Room = I love this one.
All in All = if you love the 50's, if you love good music and the wonderful voices of The Everly Brothers, and if you love good words to songs........don't hesitate....buy this cd! del rio dan

4 out of 5 stars A STRANGE RECORD BUT WITH TIME YOU WILL LOVE IT TOO.......2004-10-12

The first time I heard this record (some 20 years ago) it was a big surprise.both the voices and the musical back ground seemed strange. To make it short more instruments, lower tone for voices (closer to the live sound of Everly voices, those who heard them on stage will see what I mean) a lot of background vocals by musicians, and most of all: a very unusual balance between the band and the everly voices (the band is really loud). This sound is very far from the Nashville earlier recordings. It's also more contemporary. The whole is a little overproduced.
my first reaction was "forget this one" and that was really a premiere (for me). Now looking back I fully changed my mind, okay it's a surprising Everly record but now I really love many of the songs. So,I recommend to buy this cd having in mind it will take you time to like it but once it started you will LOVE it for ever.I was also surprised it was a clearly shared opinion.

5 out of 5 stars A true delight..........2004-01-29

For the true fan, Everly at its best. I own 3 copies - home, car, and office. Unique songs, distinct Everly sound, a prize to any harmony lover who is trying to find an additional source of Everly entertainment. Didn't think I liked all songs at first, but now would be hard pressed to select a favorite.

5 out of 5 stars The return of a lost (and underrated) classic!.......1998-07-15

An album that celebrates the Everly's unique contribution to American music (listen to the source of all those hot licks from the Flying Burrittos and The Eagles, among others) has al last been reissued on CD.

Contributions from some luminaries of the Nashville, New York and Los Angeles rock and country establishments make this a watershed recording - overlooked by the mainstream at the time of its original release - and sadly underrated for far too long. I am thrilled to see in back in circulation. Give youyself a treat and drink deep from this fine well.
