Corridors of LOVE..........2006-09-17
For me, a Corridors review boils down to a couple things. Overall, the metal here is maybe a little above average, not great, 80's metal. And for the most part, what you've really got is just a slew of metally love songs. I guess GM was going through one of those periods, but this CD devotes way too much to it. Even with the bonus tracks, all three are love songs, even the new title. To me, this adds insult to injury by no less than doubling the number of love songs--when there were already too many to begin with. And we're not talking something really good, like "Love Drive" (Scorpions), or even "Hold On To Love" (GM-Victims Of The Future). In the end, the tracks don't do much for either their topic or genre. It's about a 2 1/2 star CD, I'd say. Get GM's Victims Of The Future for some of the very best 80's metal you will ever hear.
Moore Rocks!.......2006-03-29
Gary Moore rocks out on this album which originally came out in 1982. I love this remastered version with the 3 bonus tracks. All together you get 3 versions of the song "Falling In Love With You" which is a great rock ballad;I especially love the instrumental version where the singing is replaced by excellent guitar solos. Gary's guitar playing is top notch throughout the album. The guitar work at the beginning of "The End of the World" is blistering. This song also features Jack Bruce from Cream on lead vocals.Another familiar name apearing on the album is Ian Paice of Deep Purple who plays the drums. This is cd is one of Moore's better ones, right up there with his other 1980's hard rocking cds.
GUITAR ACE ROARS.......2006-03-23
man oh man, can this boy play some guitar! I have been a Moore fan since his Colosseum days and he remains one of my alltime favorite guitar players. Fantastic technique and great feel, Gary plays like he means it. I don't think Gary got the recognition he deserved here in the states but he can wail with the best of 'em.
Like a lot of other great albums, I have this on vinyl and still listen to it regularly. The fact that Gary can go from a band like Colosseum to Thin Lizzy to this to the blues shows just how versatile a player he is. He is highly proficient in all those styles. I have had the good fortune of seeing Gary perform twice and he was on top of his game. Did I mention that I don't even play guitar? Yet Gary still blows me away. You can do a lot worse than this CD, trust me. Gary is the man!!

Gary Moore's First Solo Masterpiece.......2005-10-13
CORRIDORS OF POWER is Gary Moore's first full-fledged rock masterpece as a solo artist. This album contains none of the fusion mess that marred BACK ON THE STREETS, and shows that he learned a lot from playing with Thin Lizzy. Moore's belief that Indonesia's drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist was trumped-up and unjust makes this one, VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE, RUN FOR COVER, and the best-of OUT IN THE FIELDS essential purchases for both your ears AND your conscience.
I had the album, I remember it being great!.......2005-08-01
It's been a while since I heard the tracks off this, but I had it as a kid -- and I remember the guitar work being amazing!
This guy is one of the best.
Here's my short list of underrated rock n roll guitar acts:
1) Outlaws (Jones - Thomasson)
2) Thin Lizzy (Gorham - Robertson)
3) Ronnie LeTekro (sp?) - TNT
4) Akira Takasaki - Loudness
5) Gary Moore

Simply The Best Of The Best!.......2004-11-08
The previouse 3 reviewers should be shot( or at least scolded ) for not giving this 5 stars!
This 2CD set is from the now defunct Axe Killer Records out of France. They released only 6 or so of these "Back To Black Collection Series" CD sets. The 2 CDs come housed in the coolest black leather bound books with silver flake art work and tons of rare photos and liner notes. Not to mention the unbelievable sound quality that these cds retain,SONIC!All haven been given the remastered treatment.
All are out of print and highly collectible. The other sets are from BOC,Scorpions,Whitesnake,Queensryche,Saxon, and Suicidal Tendancies. Each contains two albums complete with bonus tracks.
Now as for this Gary Moore collection it contains two of his best rock n' roll style albums,Corridors of Power & Run For Cover.
Featuring some great players like Ian Paice & Phil Lynot these albums are crisp blues hard edge rock that can even approach heavy metal at times.
Corridors of Power has the rocker Don't Take Me For A Loser and the heart felt ballad Always Gonna Love You.And one of my Favorite Gary Moore tracks Wishing Well. They've also tacked on 3 bonus cuts,Devil In Her Heart,Blinder and the excellent long Version of Empty Rooms.
Run For Cover has a little more polished edge production wise but is no less a rocker than Corridors.Out In The Fields is a great heavy song about the consequences of war and how the worlds not being able to get along will cause all to be subject to violence at some point."No flag no uniform ever stopped a bullet from a gun".
Also Empty Rooms appears in it's original form. One of the best ballads ever recorded.
There are two bonus cuts on Run For Cover,Still In Love With You and an unbelievable live version of Parisienne Walkways with the late great Phil lynot of Thin Lizzy fame on vocals.CLASSIC!
You can't go wrong here if you're a Gary Moore fan.And I urge you to pick up the other albums in this collection if you can find them. You won't be sorry.
Corridors of Power/Run for Cover, 23 Feb 02.......2002-02-24
Wow what a find. Up till now I had really only heard Gary playing the blues. But these two albums really rock. A great buy if you do not already have either one. This guy is truly amazing no matter what he plays.
2 albums, and 5 bonus tracks.......2001-03-14
Made in FRA in 2000, Serial# 3063312, Playing Time 115:20
This 2-disc set is part of "The Back To Black Collection", a series of re-issues exclusive to France with nice packaging, which includes a brief bio and all the lyrics.
Disc 1 is GM's 3rd album, 1982's "Corridors Of Power", plus 3 bonus tracks extracted from various singles: track 10 is from "Hold On To Love", track 11 is from "Shapes Of Things(Remix)" , and track 12 is from "Empty Rooms", (contrarily to what's in the liner notes). Unfortunately for those of us who have the limited edition version of the vinyl, which included a 7" recorded in concert, these tracks remain as of yet unreleased on CD.
Disc 2 is from one of GM's 1983 albums, "Run For Cover", with 2 extra tracks, once again from singles: track 11 from "Out In The Fields", and track 12 from "Empty Rooms", a different single than 1982's since it was re-recorded for "RFC".
This pair of albums present music that is fairly similar, blending rockers with slower tracks, and preceeded his shift into a bluesier direction.
Strong material, versatile performances from Mr. Moore; worth grabbing if you're missing 1 or both albums.
Corridors of Power/Run for Cover.......2001-02-05
Two, almost long lost, Gary Moore classics, remastered with long lost rare bonus tracks. Blinder is among the rarest, until now, only found on vinyl,it alone is worth the price of admission. Gary smokes throughout, a must have collection for any die hard fan, or for those who are just getting acquainted with his earlier, pre-blues, works.

or maybe 3.5..........2003-02-24
"Corridors of power" is without doubt the best heavy metal album by Gary Moore. It's melodic but still energetic. The material is strong and many of the songs get stuck in your head, like "Don't take me for a loser" and "Cold hearted". The main problem with Gary Moore is his ability to sing. Of course it's not out of tune but his voice are far from the better in the genre.
The follow up album "Victims of the future" is a weaker copy of this one. After that Moore's song writing would never reached the same heights with the exception of a song here and there (like "Run for cover" and "Over the hills and far away"). As we all know he finally abandoned heavy metal and decided to go for the blues.
Powerful........2001-10-03
Gary Moore teamed up with Deep Purple drummer extraordinaire Ian Paice and legends Neil Murray and Jack Bruce for this 1982 set of metal guitar pyrotechnics augmented by well written songs and a soulful vocal delivery.Gary shines all over this album,of course, but what really stands out here is Ian Paice's authoritative drumming which, again translates into kudos to Moore for having the inspiration to surround himself with such prime talent.A classic collector's item.
Gary Moore - "Corridors of Power".......2001-05-18
Simply one of the greatest hard rock albums of the 80's. Corridors of Power is an absolute must for all Guitar lovers. Gary Moore is phenomenal!
A GEM.......2001-03-27
Perfection. The best that hard rocking can offer us, delivered by a true Irish master of the guitar. Band line-up here: Ian Paice on drums and Neil Murray on bass !! What more do you want ?! The album sounds fresh even nowadays. ( I only complain about some cheesy lyrics like "FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU" ....). Unfortunately, Gary left hard rock behind forever and only play blues now.
i couldn't think of a more perfect title for this album!.......2000-07-25
i picked this one up on vinyl when it first came out almost twenty years ago and i only knew gary from the one album he did with thin lizzy so i didn't know what to expect. i was blown away! first off, his guitar sound was almost perfect. second, ian paice was the drummer (need i say more?) then the songs were so powerful that they nearly blew off the top of my head! i still dust this off once a month and give it a spin and it brings back great memories! the only complaint i have about the cd version is that it doesn't include the three song live ep that came with the original album...it included a version of parisian walkways with the greatest guitar ever! it's a classic album, buy it!
