5 out of 5 stars my all time favorite steve miller album.......2007-05-13

i would tell any steve miller fan old or young to buy this album, it is a must have for miller fans everywhere

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing effort from the Gangster.......2007-02-01

Most an album of cover songs, luckily Steve hits gold with song The Joker, otherwise it's white funk and tired blues. Steve needs a well deserved break.

5 out of 5 stars For The Pompodous Of Love.......2005-03-14

From my understanding the word 'pompodous' is not a word whatsoever. But it sure sounds great in the classic 70's pop/rock hit the this album's title track has become. The album opens with another terrific,like-minded Steve Miller tune called "Sugar Babe" but that's as commercial as the album gets.Steve Miller may have entered his most commcercialy furtile phase by this time but his band are still pretty devoted to gravel raw blues,R&B and even a few tablespoons of funk "Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma",a pretty silly jam with a fabulous rhythm-it's one of Miller's few forways into out and out funk."Your Cash Ain't Nothin' But Trash" tries at a similar approch with far more of a blues bent-same goes for "Mary Lou" with it's keyboard textures."The Lovin' Cup" tries at all out 12 bar blues most successfully while the album closes on the warm ballad "Something To Believe In".The two live fillers between the latter two songs are poorly recorded and I'm sure will drag this album's reviews down a bit.But still in his pre
'Fly Like An Eagle' days Steve Miller had a tight blues machine that,as showcased here could be played in a very soulful and funky way at the same time.Different but not to be ignored.

5 out of 5 stars MI PRIMER DISCO.......2004-07-07

3 out of 5 stars Not Steve Millers Best Album.......2004-02-15

The Joker is an average album, by a great artist. This is far from being concederd one of Steve Millers best. This is very un even. You have a couple of pretty decent songs, a couple of bad ones and one absolute rock and roll classic.

The Joker is filled with differnt songs, which is why this isnt a very concistant album. 'The Joker' is the best song on the album and thats not suprizing concedering its the best song Steve Miller ever recorded. The rest of the album almost seems like its all just filler. 'Marry Lou' is a pretty decent song, but it still falls short. There are maybe one or two other good songs here and the rest is just filler.

I wouldnt recomend this album to people because it simplly isnt that good, its mostly just filler. If you like the song 'The Joker' I would buy a compelation album like Young Hearts, because this album is almost a complete waste of money. If you want some good Steve Miller go with Fly Like An Eagle, or Book Of Dreams.

The addition of Kenny Wayne Shepherd for the end title theme is certainly noteworthy to his fans, as is Static-X's appearance for "Crash" to theirs. However, the real story here is Kristopher Carter, who scored this collection and certainly merged classic movie-making scoring with smatterings of hard rock and electronic jolts. Throughout the collection are quotes from satisfied customers (the producers of the film). But it's a wonder why their endorsements are strewn throughout the packaging, considering that Carter's competency is obvious to anyone listening. "Industrial Heist," the second track, points up Carter's ability to track pulsing beats alongside the classical intimations of the orchestra. "Meet the Joker" is perfect suspense, while "Joker Crashes Bruce's Party" uses standard rock arrangements to make its point. The one drawback might be that at only 38 minutes, the whole episode seems too brief. A set of Wagnerian proportions might have been more appropriate. --Rob O'Connor

5 out of 5 stars Holy Jumpin' Jimmy Cricket.......2005-06-20

Wow. I have been a big fan of batman for sometime, even now that I'm 16. However, the only batman film I own woukd be Batman and Robin, but enough about that.

I saw Batman: Return of the joker on cartoonnet work, twice. The Joker, even if I am slightly uneasied by clowns, is my all time favourtie villian.

This score is the best. Peeps, I am stunned for words on it.

5 out of 5 stars I love the movie and I am wrighting a play based off it.......2003-06-03

      5 out of 5 stars Incredibly under-rated.......2001-09-22

When most people think of a movie soundtrack, they think of big-budget and musically moving films like Titanic. This is quite the contrary for most movie soundtracks, and is also not true in this case. Many of the Batman movies and television shows have been parised for their well done scores. The Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker soundtrack is no exception and is in fact betther than any film score I've heard before. To be truthful, this movie isn't completely orchastra though, several of the tracks have lyrics, if not in the foreground, in the background. This is definately a very entertaining CD and should be a favorite for all classic music fans, as well as Batman fans and any other kind of music fans. The only problem with this is that it is so under-appreciated.

      5 out of 5 stars WOW!.......2001-04-13

This is the type of soundtrack a comic book based movie should have. The combination of electronic, rock, and orchestral, works incredibly well. A great listen, even if you haven't seen the movie. Highly recommended.

      4 out of 5 stars Very Nice.......2001-01-28

This is a nice edition to the collection o' Batman Soundtracks, MUCH better than the Batman Beyond TV soundtrack by virtue of the fact that it has as many orchestral elements as synth elements. There are of course complaints. The length leaves much to be desired, The music underscoring the Batgirl-Harley fight in Arkham and the music underscoring the sattelite chasing Batman are both missing, and some of the best stuff in the score. At a length of under 40 minutes there is simply no excuse for the absence of these fantastic cues. The good, the music that's here is just fabulous a lot of very James Bondish cues actually, which is a fun and refreshing change from the dark and dreary that we've come to know and love. The orchestral cues underscoring the flashback sequence are fantastic, especialy the iteration of Robin's fanfare at the begining of 'A Trap for Tim'. The 12th track, 'Healing Old Wounds' features a stunning electric guitar statement of Shirley Walker's Batman Theme and is very very cool. All in all a fantastic, albeit short soundtrack. Now lets release a Soundtrack of the Batman Animated Series music and I'll be happy.

For the avid barbershop fan and CD collector, this is a wonderful collection of songs that will clense your pallet. You can only listen to "Wedding Bells are Breaking Up That Old Gang of Mine" so many times before you need a break. "More of the Different" is exactly as its title suggests. I have twelve disc changer at home...10 traditional Barbershop albums, 1 a cappella group, and this one. Even a die hard barbershopper needs a break once in a while!

          5 out of 5 stars Great Singing........2000-08-03

This is a fine example of a capella "Barbershop" singing. They sing from swing to rock and embellish the best of four part harmony singing. They are one of the best quartets in the Barbershop society.

5 out of 5 stars San Diego Rapper- True West Coast gangsta shit.......2005-01-19

Diz' cd is off the hook. all the songs are bad-azz!!! it's worth buying this album, be the first one to have it, i heard this rapper in a street-ball video. My favorite song on here is "let's Ride". This ex-prisoner can flow. He's just plain sick. - Peace THis was julio from south central downtown
