5 out of 5 stars Another of the Chart Toppers great collection from the 50's and 60's.......2007-07-13

All are digitally mastered original recordings making for great listening. Sleep Walk comes through so clear it sounds like Santo and Johnny are right where you are playing the song. Very good CD as are all the Chart Topper series of oldies.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to listen to.......2007-01-03

This is a great compilation of some of those oldies that will bring memories flooding back. The tracks have been very well chosen and there's lots of good listening on this CD. Recommend to anybody who loves the early rock music and its' origins. Can't wait to get my next selection in the same theme.

4 out of 5 stars Good stuff!.......2006-11-10

I bought this CD for one song only (Sleepwalk by Santos & Johnny). When I first heard it, I was surprised by the number of really great songs on this CD from that era that I already knew and really enjoyed. All songs are by the original artists which is a must. Great CD!

5 out of 5 stars heartwarming.......2006-03-16

This CD is absolutely wonderful. Every song is a gem. That is exactly what I was looking for.

5 out of 5 stars This is one of the best vintage collection of songs........2002-12-24

I'm so happy I bought this as a gift for my father, not only because he loves these songs and grew up with these songs, but I personally, know of them from various movies.

I must say that, even though I'm in my twenties, I find all, and I mean all, the songs of this album are unique, and exceptional. Who can resist the sweet sounds of Ritchie Valen's "Donna", Frankie Avalon's "Venus" or Doris Day's "Que Sera Sera" to name a few. You can sing along to each song! I could sit back in the twilight hours, with a glass of mellowed liquor and take a trip back to the fifties when I listen to this CD. Its as if I actually lived through that era.

You won't be sorry you bought this album for a loved one or yourself....

4 out of 5 stars great product.......2007-04-11

This karaoke CD is just what we thought it was! Lots of fun for the kids and those who are kids at heart!

4 out of 5 stars Fun.......2007-02-07

My daughter and I are enjoying singing to the songs on the CD; it is very nice to have the lyrics appear on our cheap-o karaoke machine.

BUT, one bummer is that the singers on the non-karaoke versions are NOT the original singers and this was not advertised on the website. We were expecting that the songs would be indeed sung by the singers that popularized the songs. This was misleading.

5 out of 5 stars Get Up And Start Singing!.......2006-06-30

La-la-la... Have you ever had a song stuck in your head that you've fallen in love with, only to realize that you can't literally sing it because you don't know its lyrics? I bet so. If your answer is a yes, and you love Jesse McCartney, Kelly Clarkson, Bowling for Soup, Aly & AJ, Skye Sweetnam, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Everlife, then this is for you. Even if perhaps you don't know all of the singers and/or their songs, this CD is a great way to learn more about them. Just because the CD says "Disney", it doesn't mean that the songs are Disney songs - it's just that Disney made this CD. For each song, the lyrics come on your TV screen, and you can even turn off your TV if you just want to listen to the songs. What's even greater is that you can choose either an instrumental or vocal version of each, so you can challenge yourself to sing alone. This would be a great pastime for parties and sleepovers, too. So stand up and get that singer in you start jamming!

1 out of 5 stars you sent me the wrong CD.......2007-01-13

I would have enjoyed my order if you had sent me the one I requested: Chart Toppers - Romantic Hits -50's/dp/B0000060m4; instead you sent me Chart Toppers -Dances of the -50's. Your return policy wasn't convenient. I think you owe me the correct item;will return other, but opened if you provide mailer. I ordered the romantic hits specifically for one track something Santos. Thanks for asking, but I don't want to order more since the first time you didn't send me what I ordered, and that was a real bummer.

Sincerely,

Theodore L. Wood

It was a 50th anniv. gift. The couple enjoyed the music and then danced to the music.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Variety of Songs from the 1950's.......2002-01-28

If you enjoy songs from the 1950's this CD should be in your collection. It has a great variety of songs from that time period. What made it especially attractive to me was the inclusion of the song "The Witch Doctor." I have tried very hard to find this song on a CD, and this is the only one that I could find that had it included. I wouldn't have bought the CD if it wasn't for this song, because I already had the "key" songs for me on other CD's, but if you don't have these songs on a CD of your own this would be a great one to have in your collection.

5 out of 5 stars AUTHENTIC AND GREAT.......2007-07-21

Unlike other compilation CDs I've bought, this one is a winner. You will NOT be searching on the web for a track just to see if you're listening to the real or an elevatorized version. You will KNOW in the first minute that it's the real thing. You'll recognize all the tracks and love them and not feel ripped off in any way, shape, or form.

5 out of 5 stars This is one of the best compilation CDs I have ever seen!.......1998-08-29

I really enjoy almost all of the songs on this CD. It is one of the best 60's collection CDs ever. It has a wide variety of songs, almost all of them easily recognizable. All in all, a very worthwile CD for listening to anytime!

4 out of 5 stars Not much variety found here, but still a good compilation..........2002-03-24

It's unfair to criticise this compilation CD for it's lack of content because it's available at such a low-price. Still, only boasting *nine* tracks makes you wonder if Priority Records actually took this album seriously. It's wrong to label this a 'rock' collection too as there's a lot of different musical styles to be found on "The Best Of 70s Rock Chart Toppers". No-one could ever class 10CC, Bonnie Tyler, Gary Glitter and Foreigner as being the 'same'. Even so, this is a worthwhile purchase, and despite my minor criticisms, this CD comes recommended.

"Hot Blooded" by Foreigner is a good opener, but not one of my favourite tracks by that band. "The Things We Do For Love" by Britain's 10CC is more pop than rock - and the same can be said for E.L.O's, "Don't Bring Me Down". Both are great songs, but should you ever get the chance to hear any of their other songs, you'll agree both bands aren't exactly 'rock'. Robert Palmers, "Bad Case Of Lovin' You" - a track that is sometimes just called "Doctor Doctor" is a perfect example of what soft rock would transform into the following decade. "Rich Girl" by those perennial soft-rockers, Hall & Oates, and Toto's, "Hold The Line" are two other main-stays on 'easy listening' radio stations and should be familiar to you. Bonnie Tyler - the petite Welsh rocker with the powerful voice - contributes to this CD with her "It's A Heartache". This is one example of a singer who was better *later* in her career. "Radar Love", from the Dutch(?) band, Golden Earring, follows. This is nothing special, making it the weakest track on the CD. The album concludes with Gary Glitter's 70s classic, "Rock N Roll Part 2".

There's a few good tracks on here that makes this CD worthwhile, and the low-price makes it worth purchasing. So long as you don't expect anything *special*, "The Best 70s Rock Chart Toppers" will be a welcome addition to your CD collection.

Jon.

5 out of 5 stars Back to an innocent time.......2006-11-12

I was born in the fifties but have always liked the 60's with its changing times. It was the era when i got my first kiss. When holding hands was enough to give me butterflies in my stomach. I look back on those fond memories and the great music that went along with them. I bought this album and every time i play it, i am transported back to a simpler time. Buy this for someone you love or for yourself. Buy it because you need to return from time to time back to an innocent time.

2 out of 5 stars Excellent selection of music is marred.......2006-10-13

Excellent selection of music is marred by short length (42:29) and lack of any information about the music or the artists. The recording date and number of weeks in the top 40 isn't even provided. If a CD is to take up valuable shelf space then it has to be more than this. This is the problem with the entire Chart Toppers series.

5 out of 5 stars It doesn't get much more romantic than this!.......2002-03-24

Another fantastic volume in the "Chart Toppers: Romantic Hits" series. This time around it's the 1960s under the spotlight, and what a wonderful selection of hits appears here. Although "Moon River" was a lovely Henry Mancini instrumental, I'd have liked it better if the record company had used Danny Williams' vocal version instead. Nevermind as both versions are as good as each other. Another main instrumental is the equally beautiful (and romantic) "Theme From A Summer Place" performed by Percy Faith & His Orchestra. I implore you to buy this - or any other CD - which features this track as everyone should own a copy of this outstanding piece of work. Yes, it really is *that* good!

Other highlights include, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" (The Shirelles), "Dedicated To The One I Love" (Mamas & Papas), "Can't Take My Eyes Of You" (Frankie Valli), "Hey Paula" (Paul & Paula), "Let It Be Me" (Betty Everett - didn't Elvis once cover this?) and "Sealed With A Kiss" (Brian Hyland). Two other of my favourite tracks are used to close this compilation: Bobby Vinton's hauntingly beautiful, "Blue Velvet" and Percy Sledge's soul classic, "When A Man Loves A Woman".

There are a couple of *lame* tracks too, it has to be said. Not to worry though, the next track you hear is guaranteed to be a great one! I recommend this, along with "Chart Toppers: Romantic Hits Of The 50s" too.

Jon.

5 out of 5 stars Another Outstanding Release from ASV/Living Era.......2000-02-01

This is another outstanding release from ASV/Living Era. Some of the greatest songs of the 1920s are featured on this disc, featuring such greats as Selvin's Novelty Orchestra, Al Jolson (of "The Jazz Singer" fame), Billy Jones, Vernon Dalhart, Gene Austin, Paul Whiteman's Orchestra, and Eddie Cantor (one of the original choices for the leading role in "The Jazz Singer"). This CD is a truly definitive collection representing the music of the flapper era.

5 out of 5 stars Best charted songs possible.......2006-05-29

This cd goes right down the list of the best charted songs of the thirties. Every song from 78s but the right version. The best possible cd of thirties charted music. The twenties cd "chart toppers of the twenties" is exactly the same-the best possible charted songs of that decade. The two best greatest hits by various artists cds I have ever bought! Bring on more-the teens, and earlier!
