Album Description
Exclusive Import only 52-track, three-disc collection pressed on Gold CD's! Includes all of their Top-10 hits and key album tracks from their albums released during their peak years from 1967 to 1972. Unquestionably one of the greatest American rock bands ever, Creedence Clearwater Revival will best be remembered for their unique bayou sound popularized in songs like 'Proud Mary' and 'Green River.' Although their music evoked the raw, gospel-tinged sound of the rural South, Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and Tom and John Fogerty actually hailed from El Cerrito, California, a small town near Berkeley. Back in 1960, while in junior high school, the boys formed a band called Tommy Fogerty & the Blue Velvets and spent much of their time practicing in the Fogertys' garage. Packaged in a double-size jewel case which is housed in a slipcase. Fantasy. 2002.

Vern Gosdin is as good as it gets. All too often the comparison between Vern and George Jones is mentioned but when someone sings with such deep ache and soul as Vern does you can't ignore the similarity. Vern is just as good as George. They both sing straight from th epit of their stomach where grief and anquish sometimes linger too long.

Another Great Country CD By Vern.......2005-05-08

When I bought this CD I knew it was going to be good. The music is traditional country with a mixture of fast and slow songs. There are all the traditional musical instruments of fiddles, guitars, sliding guitars etc and once you play this CD, you play it over and over again. Just sit in your lounge, turn up the stereo so that the neighbours can hear it and drown in this great music. Thank God we still have traditional country music songwriters. Most of the so called country music put out today is more like rock and rap and I am sick ot it; this CD is just fantastic; it is real Country. I gave all tunes 5 out of 5, every tune is a masterpiece. I recommend you buy this CD if you are a genuine Country Music Lover. Thanks Vern for the true Country music. Henry from downtown AUSTRALIA.

Another great Vern Gosdin CD.......2003-11-26

This CD is all about lost love. When you realize the fact that you've pushed her love away so far that you can never get it back, becomes a RUDE awkening that makes you turn to the "bottle" and try to drown the memories you once had together. This CD hit me personally as I was there once years ago. Vern wrote all of the songs here so they're all heartfelt. This CD might not be for everybody, but I"m sure glad that I got it. I will however recommend it to all Vern Gosdin fans as only he can do justice to these songs with his rich baritone voice. There's not a bad song on this CD. It brings me back a lot of memories that I got over years ago. These songs hit the nail on the head and I want to commend Vern for writing and recording his true feelings. Finally, this CD is a gem. Once again Vern comes shining through with great lyrics and great songs that have never sounded better. He is "The Voice". Vern, please keep making this music--you're the best there is!!

Please Lose the Farting SFX.......2001-06-25

The first 24k gold compilation is a little more solid, but there are some good tunes here as well. Both are good compilations and a good starting point for discovering other reggae artists. One drawback I find is that I wish I could hear the whole song, instead of roughly 2 minutes of each song. I guess this is necessary to cram 24 tracks onto the CD. Also, the sound effects get pretty annoying, especially the farting sound. It was funny at first, but gets old quick. I guess Jamaican DJs like to add their signature sound effects over the tunes they play, but I wish they'd just lay off the FX, and leave this to the DUB masters like Scientist and Mikey Dread. (I'd give it 4 stars if it weren't for the annoying sound effects.)

This album brings back memories and pays tribute to Jamaica's greatest artists. The make up of this album was ingeniuos. It combines some of the greatest lovers and dancehall tracks that are mixed with such precise and melodious riddims. I think this is a "MUST HAVE" album for everyone who loves the reggae genre. IT IS OFF DA HOOK!!!!!!!!!!!

It's 24 tracks, and it's on one of those terrific-sounding gold discs, get it? Actually, the tracks--spanning 1956 through 1969--are pretty obvious, albeit random. Completists and major fans will simply want the various box sets. And when you consider that most of these hits sounded awesome blaring from a transistor radio ... well, if you really need to go gold, you might consider Elvis Is Back, his most fully realized (and stereo) album, instead. Besides, when it comes to Elvis, 24 tracks just ain't enough. --Bill Holdship

Steve Hoffman does it again. You can experience Elvis and the Jordanaires as the studio engineers heard them. The orginal releases come nowhere near the remastering job done by DCC. This CD is worth the price alone to hear track 18 Good Luck charm and the background vocals by the Jordinaires. There was only 1 Elvis and you can really experience how good he really was with this CD. Elvis come into your listening room to perform his 24 greatest hits for you. A bargan at the price.

An excellent comp. whose main selling point is the stunning remastering job by engineer Steve Hoffman.The improvement in the sonics is so great(minimal tape hiss,natural stereo soundstage)that all I can say is "Why couldn't BMG get their stuff to sound like this" ?

Bill Holdship misses the point - most Elvis CDs sound like crap and DCC took great pains to remaster these tracks from the ORIGINAL MASTERS. Great songs, great sound. Come to think of it, skip the CD (which sounds really good) and pick up the thick vinyl version (which sounds great).

This is THE Croce Disc To Own.......2003-01-31

Search used CD ... for a used one here on Amazon. But if you love Jim Croce's music, this is the disc you need. The sound quality is better than any other Croce CD I've listened to - and I've listened to most of them through a variety of high end audio systems. The song selection is more than adequate - I only wish they had come out with a second volume. It's a pity that all of the great pop and rock music of this era have not been given this level of remastering quality.

Produced by Gregg Williams (drummer for the Sheryl Crow Band), the CD is 10 tunes that showcase the strengths of Sue's God given voice -made up of equal parts painful vunerability and plucky determination- and her thoughtful sketches of friendship, self-reliance, love and loss.

From the two-steppin' anthem of, "Down To You," the country-rock of, "Nilsson," (a tribute to the legacy of that troubled songwriter) to the playful western swing of, "These Days," that closes out the record, "Crow" is tailor made for just-plain-folks who like their drinks to be doubles, their love songs to be strong and their music to be country. You know who you are.

No smoke and mirrors, fog machines, MIDI sequencers or indoor fireworks on this one- "Crow" is simply heartfelt country music from a woman too smart to give you the same old song and dance and too sentimental not to evoke a tear every now and then. It breaks down like this: if Sue can't move you, you've got nowhere to go.

I bought this CD based on a review that called it a"small chunk of honky tonk heaven." Not true. This is folkmusic with a steel guitar. For pure honky tonk, try Heather Myles or Joy Lynn White.

This CD is immediately accessible. Effortlessly, Little Sue offers up beautiful catchy songs with a quirky touch ala Son Volt and Niel Young. I want more.

Wow. Excellent. Great........1999-07-27

This CD is a knockout. Excellent songs throughout with thoughtful lyrics and strong hooks. Her voice is distinctive (it grows on you) but less so here than on Chimneys and Fishes. To me it's rock with a country edge, not country that rocks. Whatever it is, it's great music. Check out the title track, "Strong" and "Down".

Oh that familiar style! Frankie gets with it, in this version of Humoresque with a boogie bass that pulls me out of my chair. 24 selections with a light touch on the love songs, and energetic Latin rhythms. A nice mix selected here.

If you are ready for a moving sensation, get acquainted with this 20th century stylization of classical, Offenbach's Barcarole, and Greigs Piano Concerto mixed on this CD with a way cool, Alice Blue Gown and Alligator Crawl.
