Taped in April 1975, it features nine tracks including songs from 'Burn' & 'Stormbringer' performed before an enthusiastic Parisian crowd, the songs heightened by an emotional performance by Blackmore himself, with some great guitar work. This double CD has been remixed (with three performances never issued before) from 16 track masters. Includes full color 12-page booklet with notes, memorabilia & photos. Purple Records Ltd. 2004.

Customer Reviews:
Mk III rocks - most of the time.......2007-07-08
This live recording is a perfect example why live on stage Deep Purple Mk III were both better and worse than the Mk II line up.
I say "better" because Coverdale had a stronger voice than Gillan. Glenn Hughes style of playing the bass guitar was more interesting and varied than Roger Glover's. The band was brilliant when it played songs from the "Burn" and "Stormbringer" albums.
I say "worse" because Glenn Hughes' screaming is at time unbearable, as are his excursions into funk and soul. Also, it never sounded quite right when then the Mk III band played Mk II songs.
The sound on this album is crystal clear and spectacular. The first CD is brilliant, the second CD is not my cup of tea. The interaction between Coverdale/Hughes with the audience is at times painful to the ears, as is the Glenn Hughes' attempts of singing. Someone should have explained to this guy that Deep Purple was not a funk/soul group from Motown, but a hard rock band instead.
"Live in Paris" surpasses "Made in Europe" and "The final concerts". It is the CD of choice when it comes to the Mk III farewell tour. Saying that: should "Made in Europe" be remixed and remastered one day, with the song playing order being restored and the annoying editing being removed, then there will be no reason for buying "Live in Paris 1975" any longer.
ritchie!.......2006-02-07
wow... i got this album soon after it came out and i cant believe that everyone in the world isnt required to own it... its AMAZING.. MIII's made in japan!... very bluesy... its amazing... ITS WORTH THE PRICE!!!!!!!!!
Swan Song.......2005-02-16
This is to me, the finest example of Deep Purple live...well, actually its a toss up between this one and Live In London. Ritchie's last show with the band in the 1970's is flawless and so full of energy. He certainly knew the meaning of the expression of "going out with a bang". Great job. My personal fave here is The Gypsy. Hard to beleive that this awesome version remained in the vaults all this time. Forget about Made In Japan...as i never truly understood the fascination with that LP except it contains more recognisable tunes. For DP live with Gillan go get the In Concert 2 Cd. Thats better than Made in Japan.
The only thing i don't like is about this CD is Glenn Hughes coke induced screams that make Mistreated all but unlistenable.
EXCELLENT!.......2005-01-09
Sorry... but that review below is way off the mark...
This set is DIFFERENT from "Mark III: The Final Concerts"...
"Mark III: The Final Concerts" was a mid-90s COMPILATION with tracks from TWO DIFFERENT SHOWS (Paris and Graz), with some EDITED tracks, and REPEAT performances...
"Live In Paris" does just what it says on the tin: It's the Paris 1975 show COMPLETE and UNEDITED... plus, it has been REMIXED from the master tapes and THE SOUND QUALITY IS SUPERIOR to "Mark III: The Final Concerts", which was tinny and without depth, as opposed to this new set that sounds full and rich...
The below reviewer may be a collector, but he doesn't know his stuff...
This set is new and BETTER in all respects... Hughes/Coverdale era Purple fans won't be disappointed.
money maker & marketing strategy from a record company!.......2004-11-12
this new cd set signifies the same album "The Mark III final concerts 1975". The Mark III final concerts is a double CD set which was released by Connoisseur record company in the UK for 4 years ago.
It is important to know:
There is no new surprise in this new remixed cd set. The incredible rare songs, what Deep Purple Mark III with Ritchie Blackmore played that night in Paris - France 1975 like burn, stormbringer, gypsy, mistreated, smoke on the water, going down, highway star, lady double dealer, mistreated etc... were already released in the same full cd set in "The Mark III final concerts 1975". So do not waste your money for buying this one. If you already had bought another one (by Connoisseur record company /UK import released), keep your finger from this! This one is the same set and the same show in Paris - France 1975!
therefore I gave this only 3 stars!
cheers

Customer Reviews:
Very good archival release........2006-11-28
During his lifetime, soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy was one of the most prolific of all jazz musicians, releasing many records and CDs on a variety of labels. Upon his passing a few years ago, his wife and collaborator Irene Aebi planned to release a series of archival recordings culled from Lacy's own collection of cassette recordings. This inaugural release was recorded during a live performance in Paris in 1975 with the group featuring Lacy on soprano saxophone, Aebi on cello and violin, Steve Potts on alto and soprano saxophones, Kent Carter on bass, and Kenneth Tyler on drums. The music comes from one of Lacy's most productive and creative periods, and it's interesting to hear the compositions, which are quite spacious in their studio versions, transformed into raucous freewheeling improvisations. Lacy and Potts make for a potent saxophone combo, battling for space and collaborating on themes. Aebi and Carter support the reed players admirably while making solid contributions of their own to the freer sections. Tyler keeps the music moving at a brisk pace throughout sounding particularly good on Lacy's Jimi Hendrix tribute "The Uh Uh Uh." The only caveat with this very good release is the sound quality. While not bad, it does lack the quality of a professional live recording. It is easy to look past this however, for music of this high quality. For fans of adventurous improvisation, this release is definitely worth hearing.

Yes, there are previously unreleased versions of 3 songs.......2004-12-15
The versions of Burn, Stormbringer and Space Trucking on the Mark III The final Concerts set were taped in Graz. These versions were witheld originally due to "recording flaws". I guess now we can judge for ourselves how bad the flaws were.
Personally, I wish this had been issued instead of The Final Concerts and either the complete Graz concerts issued or the Graz versions from The Final Concerts issued with the original Made In Europe versions- edits/ overdubs and all. Oh well. It's only money...
