1 out of 5 stars Not much of a Disney Princess CD!.......2006-05-04

Well, Disney has done this again... How can this thing earn money?
Only "Kiss the Girl" "Reflection" and "Once Upon a Dream" are favorites. It was so strange that "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" which was from "The Lion King" was in this album. This was not from a Disney Princess Movie! And why the song from "Aladdin & the King of Thieves" can be recorded in a Disney Princess album?
I love Disney Princess very much, and I love listening to the wonderful and sweet voices of the Princesses, for example, Ariel, Belle and Pocahontas, even Mulan. Well, where are the songs of the Princesses? And I don't like the songs from "Cinderella-2: Dreams Come True", I think they wouldn't be so terrible if there were no classic Princess songs as reference substance!
This album is really unworthy. It was neither fit for adults nor children, even a Disney fan won't love this. This album might make Disney fans and your kid disappointed, even angry. We want to listen to REAL Disney Princess songs! What we want is not this confusing album. I hope that there won't be any Disney Favoties albums like this. It's really disappointing. I have to say this even though it's not nice: If you buy this, you might be taken in by this. Save your money to buy other better off Disney albums!

5 out of 5 stars The Real Reason to Get This CD.......2005-12-31

I'm going to say it right now --- this CD is good. It's very good. If you're looking for true "Disney princess" tracks and you don't consider Cinderella II, Aladdin and the King of Thieves or Mulan/Lion King to count, then stop now. But it seems like most people are basing their opinions on the sorts of songs they expected from the CD, rather than what's actually on it.

The CD begins with "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" by Meg(ara) from Disney's "Hercules." This is one of my favorite Disney movies and this is an excellent track. Meg tries to deny her feelings for Hercules, before finally sort of admitting that she is in love.

Next is "Belle" from "Beauty and the Beast." A wonderful tune of dreams and romance that was nominated for an Academy Award.

Who doesn't enjoy "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Featuring funny bits by Timon and Pumbaa, excellent harmonies and singing by both Simba and Nala.

"If I Can't Love Her" is from the stage show of "Beauty and the Beast." It's my least favorite track on the CD, but it's still fairly decent and interesting to hear for those who haven't seen this stage show.

"Reflection" is from "Mulan" and I consider it to be possibly be the best track from that movie. Is Mulan is a Disney princess? Well, you can debate that all you want --- I suppose at this point, she's royalty, so I guess she counts.

"Out of Thin Air" is my favorite song "Aladdin and the King of Thieves." Aladdin and Jasmine sing about what it would be like for Aladdin to finally find his father. Jasmine tells Aladdin that he doesn't just come out of thin air. The music on this recalls "A Whole New World" for me.

"Kiss the Girl" is from "The Little Mermaid." It's not my favorite song from that movie --- I would have preferred "Part of Your World." But it'll do all right. And it can't be said that Ariel isn't a Disney princess --- after all, she does marry Prince Eric.

"Once Upon a Dream" is a classic! It's from "Sleeping Beauty." Sure, the little kiddies today may not entirely appreciate this, but I think it's wonderful that they would include a classic like this.

Now, part of the reason for this CD's release was to have a place for the music from the Disney "Cindrella" sequel "Cindrella II." Yes, this is a direct-to-DVD release, but it's a good one. This CD is the only place to find these excellent songs, all performed by Brooke Allison. They also all (except the last one) follow a theme of "being yourself:"

"Follow Your Heart" is about a time when Cinderella was assigned to the preparations for the royal ball. She was given all sorts of instructions, such as not opening the curtains and not inviting commoners in. Finally, she decided to just do things her own way. A lively, upbeat, positive theme.

"The World Is Looking Up To" is about the mouse Jaq and when he decides to become human. Another fun track about being yourself.

"It's What's Inside That Counts" comes from when Cinderella's stepsister Anastasia fell in love. She thought she'd get all dolled up, but learned that she can be loved just for being her.

Finally, "Put It Together" is a wonderfully fun techno remix of the classic "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo." I was surprised this works, but it does, splendidly.

So if you're looking for a Disney CD with great music and are willing to look past any preconceived ideas, then snap this CD up.

1 out of 5 stars Another Repackaging Of Princess Favorites.......2004-04-21

When is Disney ever going to realize that recycling Disney Princess songs aren't such a good idea? As a Disney Princess fan since I was really little I have always enjoyed Disney princess songs. But i am so so so so sick and tired about on just about every Disney album dedicated solely to the Disney Princesses Disney always always ALWAYS has a habit of recycling old princess songs instead of adding new princess songs. I mean people already own half the songs on Princess Favorites and can buy them on the film soundtracks or the Disney princess collection cd. Why I think this cd was released is that Disney was trying to promote the movie Cinderella II Dreams Come True as the songs from that movie are on this cd. But heck one of the songs Put it Together is also on the SUPERSTAR HITS cd. So while this cd may be a redone version of Princess Collection Volume #2 please Please Please PLEASE do not buy,
Thank you very much for your time

2 out of 5 stars Whose Princess Favorites???.......2003-10-15

I would classify only 3 of the songs on this CD as Princess Favorites - Belle, Kiss The Girl and Once Upon A Dream. The rest are either not Princess songs or not favorites.

My daughter is a huge Disney Princess fan, and wants to hear the songs from the Princess movies non-stop. She's only 3, but she does know her princesses, and the girl from Hercules and Nala from the Lion King are definitely NOT princesses! This is also the first time that I've seen Mulan grouped with the princesses.

We wanted music from the classic Disney Princess movies that she loves - Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty & The Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. I do not put Cinderella 2 and Aladdin and the Forty Thieves in that category - were those even released in the theaters, or direct to video?

I am generally a fan of the Disney compilations, but this one feels like a marketing rip-off. Get the Disney Classics 5 CD set if you really want the Princess Favorites - they may be spread out over all the discs, but they are the songs you want to hear!

1 out of 5 stars Save your money!.......2002-04-30

A friend gave this CD to my little girl for her 5th birthday...she was thrilled to get it. The thrill ended as soon as it was played. She wanted to know where the Princesses were.
There is no Ariel...just a song by Sebastian. No Cinderella, no Snow White, and why would they place an unknown song from the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast which only has been heard by the people attending the musical?? At least Sleeping Beauty made the grade. My daughter has the movie Cinderella II which the CD promotes, but is not familiar with them to really enjoy these 4 songs.
Again, save your money...some day maybe Disney will set aside some of their money and marketing hunger and put out a CD that any 5 year old princess will enjoy singing along with...BTW isn't Beauty and the Beast being re-released...oh yea, thats why that endless song about Belle is on there..Bon Jour!

Product Description

Inside Looking Out is the first album I made entirely in the computer. In fact, much of it was made on my laptop while sitting in a setting other than a traditional studio. For those of you that only know of my work on such projects as Spirit, you may find this music a real departure. Those that are familiar with my earlier work on Narada will find music in a similar vein. For me, these new programs have realized a dream I've had since the late 70s—the ability to fine tune my ideas to a degree that was never possible with hardware—and without all the frustration of buzzing wires and missing notepads!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars New direction mixed with his early endeavors.......2006-10-23

Catchy, little, downtempo melodies with creatively processed instrumentation. The musical style is very relaxing but highly captivating and hypnotizing. Has a hint of IDM with some of the unusually spacey ambient electronics and rythms that complement the melodies. A challenging piece to listen to. You won't be bored listening to any part of this CD.

When I put on the first piece, I'm listening all the way through to the last piece. When I'm not listening to this CD, I can't wait till I do.

I really enjoyed his CD, "Yonnondio" and this new CD is more like that one than his recent works but so much is new. This is another direction for a musician with a long career. I think Peter Buffett is in his element with this new direction. I'm a fan again!

5 out of 5 stars Astounding return to his roots........2006-09-01

Peter Buffett has done such an amazing arc of music over the last 20 years from 1987's "The Waiting" all the way to the present and his newest release "Inside Looking Out" proves how enduring his music really is. A very interesting thing about this newest CD is that it was made entirely on computers yet it does not sound artificial at all. It is just as natural and Peter Buffett as anything preceeding it.

Granted, those who've known his music for the Native American adventures of "500 Nations", "Spirit Dance" and "Ojibwe: We Look In All Directions" will have to set all expectations aside as almost all of the Native American sounds are almost entirely absent on here. Those who are familiar with his early works such as "Lost Frontier" and even "Yonnondio" will be getting a real treat as "Inside Looking Out" is a return to the classic Buffett sound yet at the same time having a character all of it's own.

    Album Description

Amon Düül II, the second formation of this now legendary band, are one of the earliest and best known of the German experimental (Krautrock) bands. For the complete re-issue series of the Amon Düül II catalogue, the band have included bonus material, issued for the first time anywhere. The CDs will be released as deluxe editions, with enhanced booklets, featuring new liner notes and photos.

Originally released in 1977, Almost Alive… is just what the title states, an album with some of the most spontaneous music Amon Düül II ever recorded. Highlights from the album are the dark and apocalyptic sounding Ain't Today Tomorrow's Yesterday, one of the most inventive instrumentals that Amon Düül II ever recorded and Live In Jericho, which builds it's way into a maddening jam-session. The new deluxe edition includes 3 exclusive bonus tracks!

4 out of 5 stars Great later period AD2.......2007-01-27

I've been a fan of AD2 since Phalus Dei and like all their albums to varying degrees with Almost Human being my least & Viva most favorite. Like many bands with long a long history they have had many personel changes leading to no two albums sounding quite the same. When this came out I was leery not because of change in line-up but because they had been dropped by their US label, Atco & this album was only available as a higher priced import. Quite a few of their albums take time to grow on you (took 6 months till I "got" Carnival in Babylon) but I liked this one right out of the bag. It along with Pyragony X are ironically (in light of their being dropped by their US label)some of the most accessable songs they ever recorded. Not that these songs are mainstream by any stretch but are great. Maybe not the place to start an introduction to AD2 but a must have to their fans.

4 out of 5 stars Time For Lift-off.......2007-01-21

Play this one as part of a trifecta w/Parogony X & Hijack...very proggy but balanced w/equal parts jazz & hard rock. Tough to compare to anything c/o it's in that misty, mysterious mid-70s Krautrock era. Maybe if you mixed Caravan, Steely Dan & Hawkwind...LOL Anyways, I enjoy this one LOUD after a brew or two. Makes me wish I hadn't been 6 yrs old @ the time it came out!

    3 out of 5 stars Okay.......2006-12-01

This is my second introduction to Karautrock after Can and though I've known of these guys for about 30 years, I've never heard any of their stuff until now. The music is not bad, full of some decent jams, but the most prominent tracks to me are the three added tracks, especially that "Cosmic Insects... Cosmic Insects... Cosmic Insects..." thing and Kitchen Jam. Is that telling or what, when the most outstanding tracks do not even seem to belong to the same sessions? I've seen some of the other reviews and there is quite a swing of opinion from "great" to "garbage." I don't think of it as either extreme, but considering that the bonus tracks are the most memorable, I would have to say the original album was kind of bland. Maybe with a few more listens, I'll feel different, but after hearing the album four times so far, it still sounds kind of bland. I haven't noticed any of the digital defects the one reviewer mentioned because I listen to most of my music while commuting to work.

I guess if you want a good introduction to the band, you might be better off getting one of their earlier releases, though at least the CD package and booklet are pretty bitchin'.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Arrangers in the World.......2006-11-01

Yes, I know there are a lot of Amon Duul fans out there who love the old messy, endless jams of the earliest albums, but they are missing the point of Almost Alive. This is the best of the later, jazzier, more adult oriented albums the band released in its long career. I have always considered ADII to be the best rock band in history within the field of arrangement. This concept has held true from the first album to the last. No other band quite has the Amon Duul touch in this respect. If you like the old extended jams, try Dance of the Lemmings, but if you want to hear the band in a more song-oriented context, I think this one is easily the best. By the way, I have been a fan since '72 and I have practically all the band's albums, including the rare CD releases of recent years. My favorite ADII albums are: Almost Alive, Wolf City, Dance of the Lemmings, Carnival in Babylon, and Hi-Jack. The five stars do not apply to the trashy bonus tracks! There are so many better cuts that should have been included instead.

1 out of 5 stars The worst Album put out under the Amon Duul name.......2006-06-25

I'm a huge fan of Amon Duul II but this album is pure garbage. This is not the classic Amon Duul II line up and this album has nothing worth listening to Don't buy anything from Amon Duul II if it was released after 1975 .If you want to listen to the real Amon Duul II buy Yeti,Live in London,Tanz Der Lemmings , Vive le Trance,Carnival of Babylon or Hijack.I'd like to give this CD a Zero but I can't.

      5 out of 5 stars Maximum R&B.......2002-12-11

Common wisdom suggests the (original) Animals started hitting the skids after they dumped Alan Price and producer Mickie Most. Certainly both men had a hand in the recording of the Geordies' unforgettable string of 1964-65 smashes ("House of the Rising Sun," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" etc.), but frankly, the Animals improved after ditching the pair. This compilation---drawn largely from the 1966 "Animalization" LP---covers the material the band recorded with new keyboardist Dave Rowberry and ex-Dylan producer Tom Wilson. Simply put, it's Animals at their peak, combining fierce performances with a new facility in the studio. Moreover, it makes a strong case for Eric Burdon as the most powerful and incindiary R&B singer to ever come out of Europe, let alone the British Invasion. Burdon never sounded so committed, soulful and inspired than on the strutting "See See Rider," the ferocious "Inside Looking Out" and the agonizing "Ginhouse Blues" (about as accurate and chilling a portrait of alcoholism as there is---largely due to E.B.'s incredible vocal). Yet Burdon's gut-busting never overwhelms the other Animals (as would be the case with their "Sky Pilot" era successors), whose excellent ensemble playing keeps Eric's occasional hysteria in check without sacrificing emotion. Highlights include Hilton Valentine's ragged-but-right fuzz-tone excursions through "Don't Bring Me Down" and "That's All I Am To You"; a pair of gems from Burdon's big-band solo LP "Eric Is Here" (the Tom Jones-ish "Help Me Girl"; a playful "Mama Told Me Not to Come" that annihilates Three Dog Night's version); and several demos from the group's pre-Most period (including a staggeringly assured version of "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" that makes the Rolling Stones' take sound gauche and awkward). The boys even toss in a few decent originals, like the Burdon-Rowberry weeper "You're On My Mind" and "Cheating," a Burdon-Chandler jeremiad that sounds like thinly-veiled jab at manager Mike Jeffery. All dynamite stuff, perhaps a wee more Stax sounding (and guitar-heavy) than their earlier, Ray Charles-influenced records, but still spine-tingling. Most of this material is available on the "Animalisms" reissue (along with obligatory bonus tracks), but sentimentality pushed me to sing this CD's praises anyway. Now if only someone will get off their butt and reissue the American "Animalism" so we Animalites can dig the Newcastle Roughhousers takes on "Shake," "All Night Long", "Smokestack Lightning" and "Hey Gyp," among other treasures.

      5 out of 5 stars Great Album.......2002-08-04

Same trax were released as "Animalisms" although that album in the U.S. has a few added "bonus" trax added(not sure which album came first). Good mix of catchy songs as well as a few great trax like "Maudie", "What Am I Living For" & "Gin House Blues". The versions of these songs on this album is fantastic. Highly recommended to any Eric Burdon/Animals fan - or to anybody who just appreciates good music !!

I first purchased this album(although it was called Animalization) when I was 16 years old, then I found it in a record catalog in the 70's and purchased it again. I still find this album to a (still) very relevant blues album. The covers of Hooker, et al. are truly authentic sounding and the sound quality is good even by todays standards. The guitar and keyboard solo's are true to the original flavor and not overdone. The Animals strong suit, in my opinion, was not their originals, which were often too poppy for my taste(even at that young age), but their absolutely soulful blues covers. I often wonder why the complete Animals catalog is not available in CD or any other format & I often search the used record bins for them, but to no avail. The band was such an influential 60's band its hard to imagine their work has not been re-released, especially when its very easy to find the "complete recordings" of band such as The Strawberry Alarm Clock.

5 out of 5 stars Astonishing talent & well thought out song structure.......1999-06-20

Even if you don't usually listen to instrumental guitar music you'll enjoy this CD. It's unlike anything that's out there now. It's fresh!

A great mixture of heavy melodic and Middle Eastern themes are abundant throughout, without the usuall pomp & pretensiousness that go along with this style.

Also, there's in your face footstompin' Boogie, as well as a variety of beautifully crafted acoustic songs. There's even a really cool "American" style cop story tune here complete with narration. I recomend it highly!

Something for everyone is the key word on "Inside Looking Out"!
