The final box in the three-set overview of the Rolling Stones' singles captures the quintet in the years when 45s were being shunted aside in favor of ambitious LPs. Ending just prior to the distinctly non-single-friendly Exile on Main St., this smart collection the band at a particularly ambitious and rewarding juncture. Beginning with the spring of '68 breakthrough "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and running through Sticky Fingers, the nine-disc set is fleshed out with a couple of mid-'70s rarities and 2003's remix of "Sympathy for the Devil." As with the other boxes in this series, this is for devotees who want to experience the singles experience and enjoy the original packaging. For the more casual fan, flipping discs every eight minutes probably isn't their idea of an optimal listening experience. --Steven Stolder
