Chris Dreja Had Originally Gone Along to Watch the Jim Mccarthy Band When He Decided to Jump Onstage and Jam with the Band. This Release is the Second Volume from that Momentous Occasion and features the Songs "Shapes of Things", "For Your Love", "Over under Sideways Down" and "i'm a Man". The Band Led by Mccarthy and Dreja have Continued to Gig and Record Since Deciding to Reunite as the Yardbirds Following this Concert Performance.

    A very decent 1992 reunion by two original Yardbirds members, rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja and drummer Jim McCarty. Recognized most of these sixteen tracks. Good sound quality, thank goodness. Cuts I dug the absolute most are "Heavy Weather", the memorable "Train Kept A Rollin'", "Heartful Of Soul", "Ain't Got You", "You're A Better Man Than I" and "For Your Love". Line-up: Chris Dreja-rhythm guitar&vocals, Jim McCarty-drums&vocals, John Idan-guitar&vocals and Rod Demick-bass&harmonica. Set list could've been better, but it'll do for now.

    Before Birdland, the Yardbirds got together for this live jam session. The result was a great evening of good playing of great tunes. Both the old and the new. The quality of the the recording is good though not great-but the material and the muscianship is what makes this a worthwhile purchase. There are limited copies out there so when you get a chance to pick it up you need to right away. These guys wrote some great songs. Oh, there version of "sitting on top of the world" here is fantastic!

    This CD is a must have chronicle for Yardbirds fans. Actually a performance of The Jim McCarty Band with special guest Chris Dreja. This group would soon morph into The YARDBIRDS as we know them today. Lead vocalist John Idan remains with the group though he has switched to bass guitar to make room for guitar whiz Gypie Mayo (Former Dr. Feelgood) and bass player/harmonica man Rod Demmick (Former Strawbs member) has departed to be replaced by noted blues man Alan Glen. But all in all this is the sound you'll hear if you catch the 21st century Yardbirds in action. Great rockin versions of Yardbird's standards plus some nice new songs too including the Jim McCarty penned "Cryin Out For Love" which the boys still perform in concert. Nice to hear how they do some traditional blues numbers like "Sittin On Top Of The World" as well. Get this CD-check out the new and improved Yardbirds when they come to your area. You wont be disappointed.

    With various members missing from the original line-ups (the group's three ultra-famous guitarists, the lead singer, etc....), this collection is surprisingly good! Propelled by Jim McCarty's lead guitar, this live set from 1992 rocks like hell and is a must for any British rock/blues fan. Get it!
