5 out of 5 stars Great Fun Christmas Music.......2007-01-10

A great collection of holiday tunes - I particularly like the ELP tune!

5 out of 5 stars A Rock N' Roll Christmas.......2006-03-04

Great Christmas cd with a Rock N' Roll sound. Would highly recommend to Rock N' Roll fans.

4 out of 5 stars A small but decent collection of Christmas rock songs.......2003-11-30

"Rock N' Roll Christmas" is not a bad little collection given the asking price for these eleven songs. As soon as you look over the play list you realize that these are almost all original songs, with The Moody Blues simple version "What Child Is This?" and Elvin Bishop's cover of "Silent Night" as the exceptions. For me the one must have track is "I Believe in Father Christmas" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, which is my all time in this particular crossbred category. But Elton John's "Step into Christmas" is another classic well worth the having, and Jon Bon Jovi's "I Wish Everyday Could Be Like Christmas" is almost as good. Beyond that the question is how much tolerance you have for Christmas songs with a rock beat, because that is what you get from Bob Seger, George Thorogood, Chuck Berry, and most of the rest of this crew. The final endorsement I can give for this collection is that except for the ELP song none of the other ten tracks duplicates what I already have in my Christmas music library, which I would have said was rather difficult to do. There is a second volume following this one, but the original is at least a full star better.

4 out of 5 stars OUT OF THE ORDINARY CHRISTMAS COLLECTION !.......2003-11-28

This CD is great to purchase as an "add-on" to your XMAS collection.

You'll find the track "Father Christmas" from the progressive rock act ELP. That track played on most TOP 40 radio stations during the mid 1970s. Also included on this collection is the uptempto ELTON JOHN classic "STEP INTO CHRISTMAS" (another favorite with top 40 radio in the mid 1970s).

If you want a XMAS collection to play that will cut into the classics from previous years, I suggest that you try this CD.

5 out of 5 stars It's About Time!.......2002-02-07

This is the Christmas album I've been waiting for! Finally, an album that isn't every Christmas standard being done by a rock group. These are (almost all) original songs, penned by some of the best in the business. I think "I Believe in Father Christmas" is good enough to be called a new standard. Give us more! After all, Jethro Tull released at least 4 Christmas songs. How long do we need to wait to get a "Vol. 2?"

Why do we hang a stocking upon the mantle anyway? Because the enjoyment of discovering our favorite goodies and trinkets is instant joy, no wrapping paper to take off, no waiting for your turn, and no dissapointment because it is filled by those who know you best. This comYULEation reminds me of a Christmas stocking. The liner lists a few well known artists playing yuletides which have become Rock`n Roll seasonal standards. If you have listened to vol. 1, continue to be assured those tracks less recognizable will also be compiled from among the best goodies of the 6o`s,7o`s,and early 8o`s. As with most 2nds, you`ll find a wider assortment of sub-generas and a few less ring`ers.Merrily mix~ 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,and 10 ~~ no bahhumbugs Post Script : As with vol. 1 the load is too short for a five star ranking and no instrumental.***buyit*saveit*sharemost*giveit*donateit***

5 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR ANY FAN OF ROCK MUSIC!.......2000-12-01

"Rock N Roll Christmas 2" is an awesome CD, with tracks such as "Christmastime" by Bryan Adams (How often do you see that one on CD?), and "Run Rudolph Run" by Dave Edmunds, which just happens to be my all-time favorite Christmas song. This CD also has "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" by Bob & Doug McKenzie, which makes me laugh every time I hear it. For these three alone, this CD is worth the money. Also found here are rarities by Chris Deburgh, Angel, and Squeeze. Put them all together, and what do you have? The answer: An AWESOME CD! If you liked "Rock N Roll Christmas" (the first volume), you'll want to pick this one up as well. GET IT NOW!!!

1 out of 5 stars Not really rock and roll.......2000-08-19

Okay so it has some great tracks like "Christmas time" but then you get to the Beach Boys! (seems like they are on every christmas complilation these days.) I wish it had more oomph like the first one that had "Christmas is the time to say I love you" Find the first albulm and stay away from this one!

    4 out of 5 stars Thank God.......2004-11-25

I'm not sure how these particular songs came to be chosen for this CD. The Billboard CD series supposedly features the highest charting songs, based on the Billboard music charts. Well, most of the songs on this particular CD didn't make the Billboard charts at all! Only the Billy Squire, Beach Boys, Canned Heat and Cheech & Chong tracks actually charted. They really should have included Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)", but they probably were unable to license those particular songs. But to be fair, Billboard didn't have Christmas charts every year, so many of the songs here probably would have charted if Billboard published Christmas charts during the years the songs came out. Regardless of all that, this is a good collection of rock and roll Christmas songs. Not perfect, by any means, but still a solid collection.

4 out of 5 stars A nice Christmas rock album, even with the comedy tracks.......2003-12-01

There is much to commend "Billboard Rock N Roll Christmas," starting with the opening track of Queen's "Thank God It's Christmas." Billy Squier's "Christmas is the Time to Say 'I Love You'" and George Thorogood & the Destroyer's "Rock and Roll Christmas" certainly get the place hopping. But then we have Weird Al Yankovic's "Christmas at Ground Zero." Now, I love Weird Al and I know all the words to this song, but it is just out of place in this collection (and I have expressed similar concerns on other Christmas collections when a novelty song is thrown into the mix). Then we are back on track with Foghart and some old chestnuts that have been roasting on the fire for a long time with offerings from the Kinks, the Beach Boys, and Canned Heat. Then we have Cheech & Chong's "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" routine. At least coming at the end of the album it is not as much of a distraction, but I find it impossible to believe Billboard could not have come up with a couple of other choice rock 'n' roll Christmas songs without the comedy. Those caveats aside, this is a solid little Christmas rock collection that should easily add five songs worth having to your music library, not to mention a classic Cheech & Chong routine.

4 out of 5 stars com"YULE"ation with a few hard to find gems.......2001-03-29

A couple harder to find classic rockers"Queen","Foghat",and "Canned Heat" make it a good pick.Packaged with many very good standards by which all rock n' roll yule tuneage should be judged is party delight.Besides the finale takes you back to a time when you cared less and a smile came easy.

    4 out of 5 stars Review.......2000-12-09

This is a good CD, especially for $10. Rock and roll Christmas songs are great, although I would prefer all the classics in rock and roll on a CD... But Christmas at Ground Zero is the best Christmas song ever, hands down. With lyrics like: "We can dodge debris while we trim the tree, underneath the mushroom cloud," this song is awesome. Go ahead and pick this up for the holidays!

5 out of 5 stars A Must For Any Fan Of Holiday Rock.......1998-11-24

Now if only Billboard put out volumes 2, 3, etc. or at least added more to this one; however; it is a great r&r Christmas collection and sounds great at home, in the car or at your office party!

5 out of 5 stars Dion puts the Bronx into Christmas..........2006-05-29

Lets just get this straight right now, there is only one Dion; and that is Dion DiMucci!

In 1993, Dion successfully brought his Bronx sound to the Christmas season. This CD has a great mix of songs that range from the hip version of "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree", rolls on "Jingle Bell Rock", puts Christ back into Christmas in "Silent Night" and hoofs it on "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer".

This Christmas CD has a song for everyone in your family to enjoy. It's a 'must have' for your holiday collection.

5 out of 5 stars Rock 'n Roll Christmas by Dion DiMucci.......2005-12-07

This album is one of the best Christmas albums ever. It's very upbeat and really puts you in the Christmas spirit. Dion still has " The attitude."

    5 out of 5 stars A#1.......2005-09-20

Simply one of his best. His best band, some of the best arrangements of this music, and he sings the heck out of everything. This is a year round favorite here, and is totally underappreciated. Buy it!

    5 out of 5 stars Breathtaking.......2005-09-10

I can't believe I was not aware of this CD until very recently. Anyone who does not give it 5 stars does not know what they are talking about. Dion sounds as great as he did back in the 50's. The back up singers and music is fantastic. Music needs to be Dion, and he is at his finest here. Yes, there are some songs that give me goosebumps as well.

All I can say is I have been listening to this on my MP3 player while laying out at the pool! nuff said

    5 out of 5 stars Dion Rocks.......2002-12-03

I Have had this CD since it was first released and I cannot wait to listen to it continually every holiday season. Dion puts such great feeling and style into every song. You can just tell his heart and soul and spirit are in every word. When I first heard his version of Oh Holy Night I got goosebumps and I still do. I mean Dion sings it so well and then the backup is totally mind blowing. I cannot say enough about his Silent Night. It too is a work of art as he talks about his Christmas Memories on the streets of New York City. Every other song is also a delight and there seems to be a surprise on each song as only Dion can do it.
