The last great Christmas song...........2002-12-10
This is truly the last great Christmas song recorded...in the past you've had Bing Crosby, Nat "King" Cole, Elvis and a few others with "classic" versions of our favorite holiday songs. But since the Eagles recorded this incredible version of "Please Come Home for Christmas" there had been nothing close! I had the 45rpm of this as a kid, and was so glad to get the CD last year...Get it while you can - because it is not on any compiliation CD on the market!! You will love it forever!
An Eagles Christmas.......2001-01-09
The Eagles hadn't released any new music in almost two years, so as a gift to their fans, they released this old Charles Brown Christmas song "Please Come Home For Christmas" in 1978. Don Henley conveys the aching and pleading of the original and it is one of the better Christmas songs out there.

Charles Brown's Please Come Home for Christmas is by far the lesser known of his two holiday recordings (the better known is Cool Christmas Blues). Please Come Home predates Cool Christmas and offers a sweet, blues-drenched step back in time to when R&B had not yet crossed over to the mainstream. Brown and his capable band turn on the holiday lights with a bevy of songs showcasing his smoky, lonely-avenue vocals, smart jazzlike phrasing, and minimal-but-tasty blues keyboard work. The effects are intoxicating, if only slightly interrupted by Bill Doggett's big organ interpretations of various classics. Still, it's hard to resist an album that features the original title track, plus such gems as "Christmas in Heaven, "Christmas Blues," and "Merry Christmas Baby." A rich set no music fan should be without. Highly recommended. --Martin Keller

If you want the best christmas CD out today, This is the one. Charles Brown has been bring the Soulful sounds of christmas to this household since the mid-sixty's, And the sound is good. This CD is #1 and the first to be played at Christmas time in this household.
A Breath of Fresh Air!.......2005-12-03
After spending entirely too many years giving in to my Mother's desire to listen to Judy Collins' insipid Christmas album, I brought home this album for her. The songs are beautiful, bluesy and delicate in classic Charles Brown style, and it just makes for such a nice change from all the old standards. This album is truly wonderful and every Christmas library should have it.
Best Christmas song, ever.......2003-12-06
Being from New Orleans, this song always reminds me of Christmas. Charles Brown's original rendtion of this song is my favorite by far. This song has been covered other more mainstream artists like Aaron Neville, Don Henley and Jon Bon Jovi. But none match the same soulful plea as Charles Brown does when he sings, "please come home for Christmas."

Not finding the Drifters classic recording?.......2005-12-25
If you're looking for the wonderful Doo-Wop classic recording of White Christmas by The Drifters, it's the feature track on the "White Christmas and Other Doo Wop Christmas Classics" CD, also available on Amazon.
Pathetic.......2003-12-16
I bought this album because I heard a killer version of "White Christmas" on a station on Live365. The link pointed me to this album. What a dissapointment! The tracks are half-baked, synth-drenched remakes with none of the swing of the song I heard. Liner notes are non-existant, leading me to wonder if any of the original Drifters even had a hand in this project. Don't waste your money! I did manage to locate the version I heard on Rhapsody on an album called "Soul Christmas" on Atlantic Records.
