Baby Bach-Music to Stimulate Your Baby's Brain
Editorial Reviews

The annals of postmodern parenting will be filled with documentation of the classical-for-babies movement, founded on the basis of research showing brain development when music is played (which has resulted in a robust catalog of available, inexpensively licensed or reproduced music). The Baby Einstein video company conjured a set of recordings (Baby Bach and its sibling Baby Mozart) based on videos that simply mesmerize small babies. Their Baby Bach video is a hoot for its seriousness and its impact on very young viewers. As for the CD, it's quite brief but not a whole lot less entertaining for the youngest listener. Recommended for children between 1 and 36 months, the set is all cushioning around Bach's counterpoint and rambunctiousness. Whereas Bach in an orchestral presentation can be riveting and bright, here the music is only slightly glowing, thanks to the washy keyboard. But the softness is intentional and meant not to intimidate or startle the youngest of ears. And somehow, perhaps to the chagrin of classical purists, this softer presentation seems to speak to children in ways that are hard to duplicate with original orchestral or acoustic performances. This is an age of reproduction, for sure, and these recordings are unabashedly reproductive, without regard to the shapes and colors of the originals. --Andrew Bartlett

Synthesizer strikes again!.......2003-09-30
As a parent you have to depend on other people to help you decide what is good to expose your child to. Unfortunately, the Baby Einstein company is not exposing your child to good music! It is performed by a synthesizer and while some of the songs are played well, many are not.
Their choice of the music to include IS wonderful. They are great works, but they are performed poorly. If you wish to show your child good music DO NOT BUY these CD's! Purchase the songs that are contained on these CD's performed by real musicians, not a computer or synthesizer.
Baby Bach -- Music to Soothe The Savage Beast.......2001-05-09
We introduced our baby to classical music very early on and he has watched all the video titles in the Baby Einstein series. Using that as a basis, our 16 month-old now loves this CD. When I bring him home in the afternoon, he climbs the stairs, goes right to his room and points at the CD player. Other times, when he gets fussy and agitated, I can simply turn this CD on and he calms down, and begins to play happily. Moreover, this CD has become essential for those times when our baby does not want his diaper changed. I swear there are some hidden lyrics or something in this CD that creates such a soporific effect.
keep your home videos in your own home.......2000-10-14
I loved Baby Mozart, and my family (including the baby!) were quite fascinated with it the first 10 times or so. However, I resented Baby Bach, because I did not like watching the video makers daughters in it. I felt the place for them was in their own home videos, not in my home. Let their grandparents appreciate them. To me, they held no interest. There was no theme. I liked the way Baby Mozart used the same toy for one song. Here you got snippets of toys and musical instruments and someone elses children. The music was pretty, I did not like the way the video was made!
A wonderful cd for little ears!.......2000-08-21
I bought this cd shortly after my daughter was born and we both love it. It helps to soothe her (and me) on those long, colicky nights spent pacing the floor. My baby seemed to like this one so much, I bought the other cd's and the videos too. This is, by far, our favorite! The music is soothing and sounds almost music-box like. I'm sure it will stay in my cd player for a long time.
Brain Power!.......2000-06-16
I bought this CD for my goddaughter and she loves it. It was played in her mother's hospital room and the baby's bedroom ever since. She really responds to the music. If it ain't Baroque ...
