But here's one for the record books: "Australia's Queen of Yodelling," Mary Schneider, transforming some best-loved arias into something entirely her own. You get a little Rossini, a taste of Strauss, a hint of Brahms, and some Beethoven, but--more than anyone else--you get a lot of Schneider. She sings, she jokes, she yodels, and--throughout the whole mess--she's hilarious. The Sydney International Orchestra is led by the conducting prowess of Maestro Tommy Tycho. Classical lovers with a sense of humor--make that anyone with a sense of humor--need to hear this. Wonderful music for all who love Yodeling! A special song for every mood I'm in. A treasure every time I hear it.
Offbeat But The Musianship is Very Good! And Fun!.......2006-09-02
This performance is "offbeat" to say the least. Many people, including myself, laugh when they first hear Ms. Schneider yodelling! But, after awhile, you come to realize that this lady is a true musician. She sings in-tune and with spirit and soul! And, she does have a beautiful soprano voice when she sings. A must have CD.......2006-02-02
First of all, the disclaimer. I found out about this CD by consulting a website which suggested things to force people to listen to while they are restrained in erotic bondage. The intent there was no doubt less than complimentary.
That said, however, I've found it to be a marvelous album which I listen to often. It should, in most cases, be played at full volume through as many speakers as are available.
I was allowed to use it only once at my local adult social club, at the end of the night when it was time to let the lovebirds know it was time to head home to their own roost. It wasn't popular that night, although it was effective.
Many a time it has helped me to get through the drudgery of household chores, doing laundry, washing dishes, and so forth, with a smile on my face.
More than once, having driven up close to a car playing heavy bass thumping contemporary music I've put Mary's CD on my car player and pumped it also to full volume, and left my younger compatriots in the next car stunned.
Recommended.
If you are only going to buy ONE yodeling album this year.........2004-01-15

Nothing in my life had prepared me for the experience of listening to Mary Schneider's interpretation of the William Tell Overture or the Overture to Carmen. Florence Foster Jenkins has her devotees, and Signor Moreschi a small - I presume - band of worshippers, but Mary Schneider is without peer.
I freely admit that such has been the emotion which her resolute interpretation of the pieces I have mentioned roused in me that I have as yet been unable to continue listening to the subsequent tracks. You will have to discover for yourselves these doubtless equally unforgettable offerings from a unique talent.

Save your money.......2006-02-21
I love yodeling. I have heard fabulous yodeling of classical music, such as snippets by Bobby McFerin. I was excited to see this album, thought I might give it a try. Fortunately, the price tag made me look around the internet for a preview...glad I found it. Somehow this artist, though accomplished, manages to turn beautiful music and a beautiful vocal art form into kitschy shlock of the worst variety. Lawrence Welk, you have been upstaged!

Mary Schneider has the ability to yodel and the wit to apply her talents to some particularly fruity arrangements of classical standards. This is NOT an it's-so-bad-it's-good cd, it's an o-my-God-I-didn't-know-a-human-being-could-or-would-choose-to-do-that cd.
A very pleasant surprise and very, very different........2001-12-12
I ordered this CD thinking it was going to be a novelty record, something to play to liven up the party or to put on when the party is over and you want to get the last hangers on to leave. I was very surprised to find it a melodious collection ranging from classical to popular waltzes - definitely not a joke! Ms. Schneider skillfully uses her voice as an instrument and puts all those "yodelling" country music twangers in the backyard where they belong.

She has such a calming voice! I have never heard such a variety of yodeling. The harmonies are great, the words out of this world. She must be able to tie her tongue in knots to get the sounds she does. It is a beautiful CD!!
