Fuerzas composed by Maria de Alvear and performed by Christina Fong on viola is a work of singular beauty. de Alvear's composition is full of both passion and tension, a prayer tender and determined. Fuerzas, although minimal in nature, is a rich multitextured work that takes the listener on a spiritual journey. Ms. Fong's interpretation of de Alvear's composition wonderfully captures the essence of the work, distilling its subtle layers into an evocative whole. Glenn Freeman's production design creates a mood that articulates the piece's every nuance.
