No Yo Yo.......2007-06-27
I dont recall hearing much Yo Yo Ma during what I could take of the CD. Yelling and screaming followed by passages of instruments with unlistenable melodies. Every CD has songs that arent as listenable as the others. But thats ALL this disc offers. I was angry at myself for havinng paid money for it. Had I the opportunity to listen before I bought, I would not have bought this. I sometimes enjoy listening to the SDTK from Crouching Tiger, Flying Daggers, Hero, or other films when practicing martial arts. I was expecting more of that. I got none of it. Even the last track on this CD is a partial lift from the Crouching Tiger disk! its not even the whole song!! Thats the only track I recognized Cello from.
I want my money back
interesting.......2007-03-26
Not quite what I expected but I opened it so I cannot return it.
STUNNING ! MUSIC WITH GREAT "VISUAL" QUALITY.......2002-02-27
For the first time comes an album which mixes Chinese, Buddhist, Islamic and Indian motifs in our set. We journey musically from Mongolia to China, Persia and to Europe in one 78 minute CD. My favourite track is the Persian song "Avaz-e Dashti" Islamic in sound but played with Chinese and Indian instruments together with instruments from Persia.
Just imagine the long shot visuals from Crouching Tiger and the National Geographic Channel when listening to this album.
Bravo. Eagerly waiting future releases from this ensemble.

SAIHOU:JOURNEY OF SILK ROAD.......2007-07-14
THIS IS FANTASTIC CD AND VERY FANTASTIC MUSIC,MUSIC FOR KITARO IS GREAT,MYSTIC AND MYSTERY.THAT MUSIC IS VERY EASY AND FANTASTIC TO HEARING.
Re-release.......2004-07-17
Originally released in Japan back in 1985 (yes, 1985!), the album artwork bears the words "Endress Journey" (not "endless").
It was also released in the U.S. as "Towards The West".
The synthesizers-based album contains soft and charming melodies, in the vein of the style of music Kitaro was making back then... if, like me, you thoroughly enjoyed albums like "Oasis" and "Ten-Jiku", you'll definitely want to grab this.
Strangely enough, the tracks on this record have rarely made an appearance on any of his "best of" albums, which is truly a shame...
But bear in mind that this is NOT a new album; it's more like a 20th Anniversary re-issue.

Album Description
One dozen beautiful young women, all in their twenties, take the stage and stand before an array of exotic and ancient musical instruments. Although an uncommon sight, the moment they start to play, it's clear the members of the 12 Girls Band are among the most gifted musicians in the world. Hailing from the People's Republic of China, they are already one of that country's most popular ensembles. The 12 Girls Band takes 1500 years of Chinese musical tradition and makes it contemporary. By fusing traditional instruments with modern harmonies and vibrant performances, they create a sound that crosses all cultural barriers, bringing unique tonal colors not only to their own compositions, but western standards as well. This double disc set comes straight from their recent Journey To Silk Road concert tour. EMI. 2005.
