Dwight Twilley - All Access Live.......2007-03-21
Well, it's about time for a live Twilley album. This one has the classic Twilley sound. Bill Pitcock IV, who has played guitar on just about every Twilley album, is there & though Phil Seymour can't be there, Susan Cowsill is, on backing vocals.
I love Twilley & always will, but...my biggest complaint about this release is that the tracks don't flow like a live cd should. the silent spaces between some of the tracks distract from the live feel.
Don't get me wrong, the performances are great & you should buy this. I just hope that sometime in the future a proper Dwight Twilley Band [Philly 76?] or Dwight Twilley [live at Rockabilly's dvd?] will be released.
Until then, Twilley don't mind...
wonderful surprise.......2006-12-17
Any new disc from this under-heard artist is a surprise, but most especially a live outing. Twilley has made his name on rootsy power pop of the kind that trades on studio skills, from Spector-esque double-tracking of vocals to wonderfully polished guitar work. Given that, fans couldn't be blamed if they approached a live Twilley outing with trepidation, but any fears would quickly be dispelled, as Dwight retains his characteristically tight sound yet employs subtle grit to heighten the spirit of the proceedings. He draws on the breadth of his vast catalog, with one cover thrown in (the R&R standard "Slow Down," its presence justified by guitarist Bill Pitcock's rousing solo). The wonder is that everything a fan might have imagined Twilley's live sound to be like over the years is that and more, delivered in spades. The bigger wonder is that Twilley hasn't released a live disc sooner. Fans will overlook the few audio blips that appear between songs, grateful for the arrival of this jewel in the crown of Tulsa's reigning king. Dare you to put it on for any given demographic in your home, and see if they're not up and dancing by listen's end.

Authentic folk music.......2007-01-18
This is the real thing, folk music the way it is and has been played for generations. These artists are skilled musicians and it really shows on this collection. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own what might be the finest collection of traditional Kentucky standards ever published.

Hallo-wha?.......2006-04-19
Let me start by saying I've never listened to Steamroller before picking this up. I am a big fan of Halloween and have quite a collection of music/sound fx so naturally, this was a must buy when I saw it.
Strictly from a Halloween fan's point of view, I can't recommend this except maybe for a kids party. The synth on the tracks really removes any spookiness from the tunes and makes them fall short of Halloween-worthiness. Tocatta and Hall of the Mountain King are some of my absolute favorite classical pieces and here they are given a royal treatment...if they were produced on a Commodore 64, or Casio keyboard for you younger folk.
The FX disc isn't horrible, but it's below the average generic sound fx you find in the bargain bin. Again, not much scary except for the fact that I spent money on this.
If possible, check it out before you buy.
An interest take on the usual.......2005-11-06
I wasn't sure what I'd think of this from reading other reviews, but I really did like it. I'm not really familiar with Mannheim's other stuff (but if the rest of the Autumn cd is anything like Harvest Dance, I'm looking forward to getting it), so I didn't have any preconceived ideas. I have a lot of the classical pieces on other cds, but I like the different twist given to them here. And I did like the sound effect cd. Nicely spooky (I have enough other sound effects cds with screaming and muching ghouls, etc).
Could have been great but . . ........2004-10-15
As a big Steamroller fan, perhaps my hopes were set a little too high. I envisioned more original music (perhaps a more scarier vibe than the silly one this CD has to it) and maybe a few covered tunes. Chips originals (from the Fresh Aire series)found on this CD outshine the weak efforts put forth on the covered and rearranged tracks. The sound effects disc sets a great(and creepy)mood, that should had been followed through with some new and equally scary compositions.
If you're a die hard Mannheim fan (as in 'I just have to own everything Chip puts out') I say go for it. But otherwise spend your Halloween money elsewhere. Overall this is a forced and lazy effort.
It's not That bad..........2004-06-14
It's not scary. There, you have it, that's what it all boils down to. With a creepy cover like that, you'd think it would be terrifying! It's not, but it's not bad, either!
A lot of the songs sound kind of like low-budget MIDI tunes that are sometimes embedded in websites.. but I think that might have been what the Steamroller was going for. Kind of like a broken Music Box? Anyway, only a few sound low budget, the rest sound good, even a few are a little "eerie" but at the same time, there's a lot that pretty much remind me of something you would hear come out of sesame street toy. The sound effects are great, though.
There's a few songs that are bad. there's a few that are "babyish" but there's also Lots that really capture the mood of halloween and some of it's eerieness. I can't really recommend it for Halloween itself (maybe if you already have every halloween cd already) but I think any Chip Davis fan should give it a listen.
Tries to please everyone.......2004-06-02
One of the neat things about the holiday of Halloween is that it is so versatile. Where Christmas has a very straightforward story (Santa or Jesus, take your pick), Halloween can be many things. Some people see it as a sort of Mardi Gras atmosphere, where any kind of costumed theme is suitable. Others see it as a dark holiday, only suited gothic castles, zombies, and monsters. Still others celebrate it in the style of gory slasher movies, complete with deranged serial killers and buckets of blood. And then there is the non-scary childrens Halloween, where the ghosts are cute and jack-o-lanterns all have goofy grins.
This CD covers all these aspects of Halloween, which virtually garantees that no one will like every song. However, I would suggest that you pick and choose the tracks you like from the CD, as part of your overall Halloween soundtrack. You will probably find at least several tracks you like. And of you like Mannheim Steamroller, you will like most of them.

Customer Reviews:
Great New Age!!.......2004-06-02
New Age music is an acquired taste. When it's done right, it can be a wonderful genre to listen to. The CD, "The One I Waited For" is an example of that. The music reminds me of the compositions of fellow solo pianists Jim Chappell and Danny Wright, of which, Dulin is in the same, elite class. Highlights include, "The Way Home", "Wedding Day" and the title track. The CD title is symbolic as it was named for his fiancé, Jan. His solo piano compositions are soothing and relaxing. This 2002 CD release was really a joy to experience.
from Solo Piano Publications.......2003-06-09
"The One I Waited For" is a stunning first-release from new label, Equity Digital. Julliard-trained Michael Dulin shines brightly on solo piano (with occasional synth washes), and promises to bring an exceptional new voice to contemporary instrumental music. A man of many musical hats, Dulin works professionally in styles ranging from classical to gospel. Along with being a phenomenal pianist, Dulin is a studio owner, session musician, producer/arranger, and composer of award-winning music for radio, television, film, and theater. This varied background is apparent in the variety of pieces on the album. All are calming and relatively peaceful, but there is a rich complexity that reveals itself the more you listen. Dulin calls his music "inner music - music that balances and centers and replenishes" and "a haven of sound that one can visit again and again."
The CD opens with a lovely, piece called "The Way Home." I feel a sense of searching, and perhaps a bit of nostalgia in the music. The rubato rhythms and jazz elements keep this piece surprising, fresh, and inviting. "First Love" is a sweet and gentle piece with a flowing left hand, and a carefree melody that almost smiles. "Solitude" is more introspective and dark, but isn't brooding. Thoughtful and intimate, this is one of my favorites. "After the Storm" is a more classical piece that clearly demonstrates Dulin's incredible playing "chops." The clarity of the trills and runs is amazing. "Lullabye for Alexa" is a gentle song without words - very loving and warm. "By the Fire" is more rubato again, and feels almost conversational. There seem to be two "voices" exchanging ideas or thoughts, and the feeling is so comfortable and easy. Great stuff!
"The One I Waited For" is indeed an auspicious beginning, and I can't wait to see what's next. Several more albums from Dulin and Equity Digital are scheduled for release in 2003, so I'm excited to hear this new music!

Best singing, Best music, Best recording: 3 times 5 Stars.......2003-11-06
Here is an excellent example of what a real chorus sounds like in a suitable acoustic space. No gimmicks or tricks, just the real deal, sonically. The choral group, Gaudeamus, is singing very well with true intonation, precision, accuracy. Most of all, these folks seem to actually like the music. The selections are a sort from across major streams of choral writing in western classical; but the delicacy of tone is as awesome here as the larger, massed choral effects. It is of course not easy to record music successfully. If the microphones are too close, you lose the sense of atmosphere and the particular acoustic that is inseparable from live music in the real world. If the microphones are too distant, all you get is the hall sound at the expense of the music. This recording earns high marks for managing everything just right. This disc actually is one of my top, all-time choral favorites. The other two are: Eric Whitacre's a capella choral music (sung by the Brigham Young University Singers); and A Rose in Winter by the Dale Warland Singers. In any case, get this for wonderful singing, and excellent sound. It will show off your system, too. Highly recommended.

Simply the Best.......2005-03-13
Prevost and Solley have wonderful chemistry together. Kim's brother, also a recording artist, introduced me to the duo. This CD does not do them justice. They have so much original material. I hope they release another CD soon. If you like this one, check out "Talk To Me." If you ever go to New Orleans, you have to go see them play!
The only one.......2002-06-16
I first heard these two artists last Christmas. They are wonderful. This album does them only partial justice. But it's the only one out, up until May or June of 2002.
If you want to listen to the SOUNDS and admire the ARTISTRY, don't be put off by the choice of songs. Just enjoy the music.
And it is quite enjoyable.
Great Music.......2000-09-29
I first got up on this duo on BET's bet on Jazz. Kim's vocals and Bill's playing are excellent, and their chemistry is flawless. I was a little disappointed with the rendition of "Summertime", but that's about my only complaint. I especially like their version of "I'm Beginning to See the Light." Great Stuff.
WOW!.......2000-07-28
Very beautiful duet. First time I heard them was on B.E.T.(A tv program in San Diego). Every song gave me goosebumbs. Kims voice is soo "WONDERFUL" and Bill is "FABULOUS" on the guitar. Would love to see them live.
now this is really talent.......2000-03-26
this is a wonderful CD, with both singing and arrangement talent. on a scale fronm 1-10... this is an 11.. its jazz at its greatest!

Great cool down music.......2006-07-17
I use this cd in all of my classes for cool down. The music is relaxing, it has a nice beat and it's different.
A winning combination.......2006-05-10
I recently ordered both Digital Moodz cds: Metamorphosis and Levitation. They are both welcome additions to my growing new age collection. I have found some great new artists and music here on Amazon. Metamorphosis is excellent with its old world meets new world feel to it. Tracks like Within and True Virtue shine.
Levitation presents a darker mood than Metamorphosis yet manages to be smooth and dreamy. The track Ages of Time is a classic and there are many both cds. Both cds are knockouts. I look forward to more from this group in the future.
I recommend this CD!.......2006-01-05
This is a very good CD. I am a big fan of the ethnic groovy new age music and this encompasses all of these styles and more.
I think this music has a broad appeal to many different genres of music. If you enjoy the boring, bland new age music, this cd is not for you but if you enjoy upbeat and unique sounds this cd you will enjoy.
Purchase this CD!.......2005-04-28
I first found Digital Moodz by accident on the web at their site - digitalmoodz.com. I bought "Metamorphosis" and have really enjoyed listening to this CD. I knew it would be good from the opening track "Mist" right through to the end. There is much here to enjoy from ambient downtempo to upbeat and uplifing tracks. The track "Within" is my favorite but I like them all.
Digital Moodz delivers on Metamorphosis.......2004-10-23
DM makes a great 1st impression in Metamorphosis. From the opening track's haunting but inviting flutes "Call of Wind" to the energizing jazzy spanish guitar "Mist", Digital Moodz covers a wide spectrum of sounds. All the tracks are great, but my favorites are the relaxing "True Virtue" (Gregorian chants, wonderful flutes), "Within" (excellence) and energetic "Light of Truth". Metamorphosis has songs for every mood and feeling. Great CD!
