About the Artist
Russian pianist (as well as conductor and composer) Mikhail Pletnev (b. 1957) is one of today's most prominent classical musicians. His world career began when he won First Prize in the 1978 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. Since then, he has made numerous acclaimed and award-winning recordings. A keyboard artist of impeccable technique, Pletnev is particularly known for his iron control and structural clarity. He has often been compared to the late Vladimir Horowitz, considered by many as the greatest virtuoso of the 20th century.
