Richard Buell
Boston Globe correspondent Richard Buell wrote about Bronika in his review of her concert (Boston Globe, May 27) that: the sheer fluency, accuracy, variety of tone, and articulation she could call upon was scarcely to be believed. That she seemed to be offering a real, even highly personal, interpretation of everything she played was even more remarkable. He described the performance of Sarabande movement of Bach's G Minor English Suite (BVW 808) as Soulful and inward in emotion, subtly flexible as to phrasing and tempo, the performance spoke familiarly of matters that no 10-year-old not even 10-year-old Albert Schweitzer could know of.
Richard Buell concluded his review of the concert with the following remark: the performances of Haydn's F-Major Sonata, the Ravel Oiseaux tristes, Schumann's Abegg Variations, not to mention the shorter gee-whiz pieces, were ones that many an adult professional wouldn't disown.
About the Artist
Bronika Kushkuley was born on August 5 1987. She is studying piano with Julia Bernstein of the New England Conservatory. Bronika has been the first prize winner of many prestigious competitions. Album Description
This is the second CD recorded by Bronika. The first one was recorded when she was ten years old, and has very good customer reviews on Amazon.com.
Bach's French Suite was recorded live in Orvis Hall of University of Hawaii at Manoa on September 24, 2000. The rest of the CD was recorded live in Williams Hall of the New England Conservatory on May 31, 2000.
Bronika turned 13 between these two dates.
Parts of the Williams Hall recording were broadcast by National Public Radio.
Bronika is studying piano with Wha Kyung Byun of the New England Conservatory. She is a first prize winner of three international competitions and has been critically acclaimed for her performances throughout the United States and Europe. She appeared at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Teatro Marcello, Avery Fisher Hall and Jordan Hall.

I didn't think it was possible, but this recording is even better than Bronika's first CD! I can't wait for her third :)

What a marvlous pianist! Just stop whatever it is you are doing and go listen to the Amazon samples, right now! Such soul! Such virtuosity, such a marvel of interpretation! She makes each piece sound absolutely fresh, but the finale is for the ages. For me, she's the best Bach interpreter since Gould. She's really at that standard, even at a much more youthful age.

I've heard lots of pianists who can nail every note. But Bronika brings a subtle yet discernible passion to her playing that makes a difference.
Thoughtful rather than showy in her interpretations, Bronika's playing is simply a joy to listen to.

I bought this CD unheard; I'm very glad I took the risk. Miss Kushkuley is truly gifted. I listen to her CD as often as any I own. I'll be first in line for her sophomore effort.

I have heard only a few of her performances but feel she is the best pianist I've ever heard. She is amazing. I was astounded to find out that she recorded them when she was only 10 years old. She has the ability to go as far as she wants with her career as a pianist. I have been searching all the music stores for her CD but haven't found it yet and I will not rest until I find it. Words cannot describe how much I enjoy listening to her perform. Bronika is FANTASTIC to say the least.

It is quite remarkable that such a talent as Bronika Kushkuley hadn't reached my ears before I looked the CD up myself. I have used her interpretation of Chopin's Waltz#6 in my documentary, and her skillful playing still gives me goosebumps (after one month of continous editing)!
