Corpus Evita

Editorial Reviews
Album Description
The history of 20th century Argentina is so entangled with Juan and Eva Peron that it is almost impossible to separate them. Their effect on Argentina was such that, due to popular demand, Juan Peron returned to the presidency after almost 20 years' exile in Spain. When he died in office, his third wife, Isabel, became president of the republic. Totally unprepared for this role, she was dependent upon Jose Lopez Rega,"The Ministro," for advice. Lopez Rega was involved in the creation of the Argentine Anticommunist Alliance, an organization responsible for many kidnappings and violent incidents which preceded the military coup on March 1976. These intertwining relationships and the events that transpired are the basis for this breathtakingly beautiful opera, masterfully written both by composer Carlos Franzetti and librettist Jose Luis Moscovich.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful opera by Carlos Franzetti and Jose Luis Moscovich.......2005-12-13

This opera has some of the most beautiful music I've heard to date! Carlos Franzetti and Jose Luis Moscovich capture in both the music and the libretto the eeriness of the characters and the times in which they lived. This opera is one that should be performed in opera houses around the world.
