Album Description
One of today’s best-known and best-selling composers, Michael Torke has taken over all of his recordings formerly released by Argo/Decca Records and is re-releasing them on his own label, Ecstatic Records. Michael Torke has created a substantial body of works in virtually every genre, each with a characteristic personal stamp that combines restless rhythmic energy with ravishingly beautiful melodies. Torke wrote The Yellow Pages while he was a graduate student at Yale, and from this early effort many of his signature compositional techniques were codified. Change of Address is a suite from Torke’s so-far unrecorded opera King of Hearts. Last fall, the boxed set of Michael Torke’s complete recordings was picked by The New York Times as one of the Top Classical Albums of the Year.
