F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: Symphonies XII, X, IX

Editorial Reviews
Album Description
When contemplating the topic of musical prodigies, the names most frequently mentioned are Mozart, Schubert and perhaps even Rossini (whose delightful String Sonatas were composed at the age of ten!). The name of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy is seldom associated with the league of wunderkinds, but nothing could be further from the truth. In the history of music there have been few talents that burned as brightly as did that of young Mendelssohn. Gifted with an extraordinary intellect, and able to assimilate the works of Bach, Haydn and Mozart with ease, Mendelssohn completed his 13 Symphonies for Strings between the ages of 12 and 13!
