Editorial Reviews
Album Description
On this, the EMC's 2003 debut album, we find a dazzling collection of musique concrete & synthesized sound worlds. The album opens with Bittencourt's raucous "Lupanar", in which angry industrial jabber iterates in erratic polyphonic strands. Christopher Bailey's "Duude" takes a similar tact, assaulting the listener with layers of jumbled sonic paraphernalia. Douglas Geer's Ripples" and Tim Polashek's "Sonata" bring a somewhat gentler harmonic sound to the fore (at least at first. . . ), with echoes of instrumental sounds, textures, and forms. The noisy climax of "Ripples" is (seemingly) echoed, filtered (and transposed up a few octaves!) to find its way into Evelson's evanescent (incandescent?) Ex Nomos Alpha. A kindred "evanescent incandescence" in Geer's "Soft and Sky Melting" closes the lineup.

Album Description
Tender, melodic piano music flows from the fingers of Chuck Brown in this 2004 album release...his first in four years. His hallmark is memorable, distinctive melodies, this time framed on 4 cuts by gorgeous, restrained string/horn arrangements from Stephen Bashaw. The album closes with Brown's tribute to the heroes of the 9/11 disaster, "Hearts Stronger Than Steel", written 3 days after the event, featuring Brown's own soaring, anthemic guitar solo. Despite his status as a non-touring artist, Chuck Brown has garnered a worldwide reputation for his creative songwriting style and his ability to connect deeply with others through his restorative music.Customer Reviews:
