Sostice is one of the most hauntingly beautiful ballet scores that you will ever hear. It's scored for a fascinating ensemble: flute, oboe, trumpet, celeste, tack piano, two cellos, and double bass. The range of tone that Harrison draws from this small group is astonishing, ranging from hypnotic Oriental melodies to rhythmically vivacious dances. The other works are all similarly attractive, and these performances are simply superb. The recorded sound is also just perfect, with a richly resonant lower register that gives just the right touch of depth to the music. This is a very special piece that will appeal to people not generally interested in ballet or "standard" classical music. --David Hurwitz
