Arvo Pärt is one of the few contemporary composers who time and again manage to enthuse a great number of admirers and fans with their music. His music often has a meditative character - it appears immediately comprehensable, calls up emotions and moods and is unique from the first note.

Vladimir Spivakov has long since been acquainted with Arvo Pärt's music and was among his supporters and companions already in the Soviet Union. He has recorded a few pieces with his Moscow virtuosos that are particularly dear to him, among them the "Berlin mass", a work from the 90's that underlines Pärt's confession to Christian beliefs as well as the "Mozart Adagio" as a CD premiere recording.
