Fans of this most unsullied of folksingers have strong options when it comes to retrospectives. Colors of the Day first arrived in record stores in 1972 and serves as a primer to her earliest, most time-honored recordings, including the hits "Someday Soon," "Both Sides Now," "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" and "Suzanne." Those four tracks, as well as four others, turn up on Elektra's 1997 two-disc Forever...The Judy Collins Anthology, which is by far the superior career overview. Still, those who treasure Collins's earlier folk-based recordings over her later art-song experiments will find Colors to their liking. --Steven Stolder

I'd suggest just going all the way and getting In My Life and Whales & Nightingales, but if you're uncertain or cheap or whatever, this is the best of the comps.

No "Send In The Clowns"!

Ok, it's true - Collins managed to bring fame to Joni Mitchell by mangling "Both Sides Now" (it's just drenched). Dialectically enough, her take on "In My Life" strips the the studio artifice of the original and gets vividly deep into the tune's soul.

The best thing about this collection, however, is the generous amount of Collins' own compositions. "Since You Asked," "Sons Of" and "Albatross" are three serious 1960's art song contenders.

Also: the version here of "Who Knows Where The Times Goes" removes the Stephen Stills' electric guitar, shines up his acoustic and lets Collins free to do her storytelling best.

Lovely, enduring classic.......2007-03-15

One of my most loved albums in university in the early 70s, and now my 17 year old daughter feels the same way. Her extraordinary clear voice and range of emotion, and flawless delivery compliment an amazing variety of styles, pure folk, country. Broadway, classic ballads (Suzanne), or spirituals (Amazing Grace) and not a bad song on the album. Jacque Brel's "Sons of..." still brings tears to my eyes after all these years.

She was, simply, a treasure, and this album is a must to own.

Great album, worthless audio.......2004-03-15

Buyer beware: this Elektra version of the wonderful Judy Collins "Colors of the day" has bad mastering. The tape Elektra used was obviously played back with Dolby-C, while not encoded as such. This disc should have been taken off the market. Try and find the gold disc instead.

Sons of.......2003-10-21

This is the only CD I can find that as what I think is perhaps one of Judy Collins' most haunting and beautiful and sad songs. "Sons Of"... probably one of her least known as well. I remember hearing it for the first time when I came across the tape a few days after the shootings at Collumbine. And, the lyrics seemed so perfect. I listened to the song again shortly after September 11th. This song fits both tragedies so well. And, this CD is worth getting just for that song alone. But, there are many other good songs here as well.

German Marches on a budget.......2006-11-05

A good budget recording of twenty German military marches from Legacy International. As far as I know several of the marches on this recording are not easily available elsewhere. I was glad to find a CD of this recording which I had previously had on a LP vinyl record. Sadly the transfer to CD has not enhanced the sound quality. It sounds as it did on the vinyl record. There is a volume 2 of German Military Marches from Legacy International as well as an excellent recording of French military marches.

Old LP Re-Issue on CD.......2004-08-21

This is a collection of old LP recordings that were originally released on the Oylimpic Label some years ago. It has floated around since and has now come out on CD. The CD lists the German Air Force Band, but this group only plays in half of the selections listed. The other half is from another old Olympic Label recording with the Hoch Und Deutschmiester band of Austria.

Its too bad the producers were not a bit more honest about who is performing on this CD. The recording quality here has not been improved much from the original LP recordings.
The same poor linear notes are used with no info. about the
band(s) or music. Just some general ramblings about how military music may have developed in Germany. Its pretty general stuff.

While I have complained about the poor production qaulity the style of playing is still quite good. The recording sounds like it was made back in the 1960s or 70s when German bands sounded different than today. The best selection is the Zapfenstrich medley of marches and hymns used by the old Prussian army as an evening Tattoo piece and a salute to the colors. The music is not listed, but it includes Beethoven's "Zafenstreich March", as well as the old "Kurfursten march", which is included seperately later on the CD as well. This special medlely includes drum and fife florishes unique for the occasion in the old German army and concludes with a stirring version of "Deutschland Uber Alles". This selection is alone worth getting the CD for.

The other music played by the Hoch Und Deutschmiester Band is very good Austian martial selections, although these recordings have been re-issued and improved in their sound quality on another label. Overall you get a decent potporri of German and Austrian marches played by two different bands on this CD for a low price. The sound quality is poor, but not unbearable. This is basically a low budget production. You get what you pay for with this price. Enjoy

Quality?.......2003-02-25

Good representation of melodies. It would have been more enjoyable if they had used a better recording device to capture the sound. I think that wax cylinders went out of favor back in the 1920's. (Very limited dynamic and acustic range) Presentation is slightly better than the "average" high school drum and bugle corps.

Not WW2 military marches.......2002-11-06

I was searching for songs like Panzerlied and bought this CD.
I guess I expected too much from this CD.

Beware of the other CD with this title. THIS is
the good CD, the other is not. This has many great
marches on it including some they used a bit in Nazi
Germany (the Nazis wrote few songs, they used stock).
Overall, FANTASTIC. You will not be disapointed, I
just wish that a march or two was longer.

"Another Dolly Winner!".......2007-04-08

Rolling Stone magazine named this album last year as one of the top 100 greatest albums of all time by any artist in any genre. Heavily regarded by many critics and Dolly fans as one of the top 3 albums in her career, "Coat of Many Colors" is simply a standout. This collection comes with new liner notes, recoreded dates of the song sessions, beautiful repackaging if the original LP art, and 4 new songs never released, with the exception of "Just as Good as Gone" that was a rare single B-side released back in 1972. A must have for any music fan. The rare Dolly pictures too are the most glamorous I have ever seen of Dolly Parton.

A perfect Parton LP from 1971 w/bonus tracks.......2007-04-05

For an artist of Parton's stature, it's incredible that her towering early achievements are so spottily available on CD. Many of her brilliant solo albums of the '70s - the sides waxed before crossing over to pop stardom - have been left unreissued. The few that have seen CD, such as this classic 1971 release, have moved in and out of print. Buddha provided a straight-up reissue in 1999, and an imported two-fer on BMG paired this title with Parton's "Joshua" LP. The domestic Buddha release is now replaced by this bonus-track augmented Legacy reissue, but fans that want the extra tracks here and "Joshua" on the import will buy themselves some duplication.

Parton's early years under the tutelage of Porter Wagoner were rich in material and performances, and "Coat of Many Colors" contains some of her best. The title track weaves biography, bible verse and gospel soul into one of Parton's most heart-rending compositions. Her words capture the emotional turmoil of childhood through the discovery of an adult's nostalgic memory, and her voice holds both a little girl's confusion and a women's knowingness. It's breathtaking to hear songwriting, singing and production mesh so fully.

The unrivaled quality of Parton's voice is heard on the bluegrass-harmony backed "My Blue Tears" and the forthright "She Never Met a Man (She Didn't Like)." Parton's sassy comedic edge, which would carry her into the mainstream, is heard on "Traveling Man," and the outré "If I Lose My Mind" must have shocked a few country listeners in 1971. The backings include fiddle, steel, twangy guitar, funky swamp beats and even a touch of '70s soul, and it's a testament to Parton's artistic gravity that it meshes so well into an album.

The reissue's four bonus tracks include three cast-offs from the original 1971 sessions, and the a superb acoustic demo of "My Blue Tears." Parton rerecorded her own "My Heart Started Breaking" for her 1975 "Dolly" LP, but this 1971 version's never been heard before. Her "Just as Good as Gone" was left to the songbook, and her rendition of Porter Wagoner's "The Tender Touch of Love" now joins the previously released edition by Jim Ed Brown. All three of the studio-produced bonuses fit the sound and feel of the album, but it's the voice-and-guitar demo of "My Blue Tears" that catapults this disc past earlier reissues.

Legacy's reissue (along with accompanying volumes of "My Tennessee Mountain Home" and "Jolene") fills out the packaging with newly struck liner notes by Chet Flippo and chart and session information that was missing from the earlier Buddha edition. The running time is still short (38 minutes, instead of the original LP's 27), but it's a great place to start a Dolly Parton collection; those who own the earlier CD reissue should consider upgrading for the bonus tracks and new booklet. Album better than the bonuses. .......2007-04-05

This is one of three titles re-issued of Dolly Parton. This one, along with "Jolene" have been issued on CD several times already. So the draw here are the bonus tracks. In this case the album as a whole is better than the bonus tracks. The bonus tracks are good, but nothing that stands out and knocks you over. The acoustic "My Blue Tears" is the best of the bunch though. As for the original album, some classic tracks here. One Dolly's stronger early albums.

I love Dolly, and I am very pleased to see a trend at rereleasing her older albums on CD. I HAD to buy this version of Coat for the bonus tracks, which are wonderful. I have never really been a fan of demo tracks, nor a fan of "My Blue Tears", but this version is remarkable and has proved to me what a great song it is! I am hoping to see more reissues in the futurn; "Bubblin' Over" anyone?

I got this CD for my son who always like Cyndi Lauper and with this CD I also got him concert tickets to see the True Colors Tour. So he was quite pleased.

I've been looking for the songs on this cd for a very long time. When I ordered the cd, I never looked at what songs it had on it, I just got it cause I like Cyndi Lauper and the song True Colors. But it had more than just that song, it had even more great songs that I didn't know that Cyndi even sang. The cd is a classic and must have for anyone that loved music from the '80's and is a Cyndi Lauper fan.

A Good Follow up.......2006-04-14

After you heard the greatness of "She's So Unusual" you were tempted to check out its follow up, right? Well as most people were I was also and sampled some songs liked what I heard got the album. Overall the songs are a lot more mature and show a grown up Cyndi Lauper. Don't expect the wacky Cyndi from "SSU" it has a different approch. Here is a track by track run down;

1. Change of Heart 10/10

This track is a great opener for the album it really gets you up and makes you dance. This is Cyndi's finest moment on the album as far as I'm concerned. It's With a drum and guitar that just won't quit. This song makes the album worth it by its self. It was the second single.

2. Maybe He'll Know 8/10

While I wasn't to fond of this track at first listen it definatly grew on me. This is a remake of the track Cyndi did w/ Blue Angel. It has kind of a 50's pop sound. It became a fifth single in Holland only.

3. Boy Blue 9/10

A nice underrated gem of Cyndi's from the album it is mid-tempo and has a warm breezy sound to it. It became the fourth single from the album and Cyndi's first flop single at least in the U.S. peaking at #71.

4. True Colors 7/10

Hard to believe that the title track of the album, a soft and slow song was written by the same writers that wrote Madonna's "Like a Virgin" two years before. Although the song isn't my fav on the album I do have a soft spot for it. It became a #1 hit and the first single off the album.

5. Calm Inside the Storm 9/10

What a cool light-hearted song. It is a fun up-beat track that you can't resist. The chorus is killer and makes the song.

6. What's Going On? 8/10

A remake of the classic Marvin Gaye song, although a lot of people dislike Cyndi's remake and some call it mediocre I do happen to like it quite a bit. Cyndi holds her own and makes it her own. This was the third single from the album.

7. Iko Iko 6/10

This two minute ditty is a African cultured track that you can sing at the campfire. It isn't a stand out but it's alright...

8. The Faraway Nearby 7.5/10

It starts out kind of silly but gets better as it goes on is not half bad.

9. 911 9/10

I really like this one it makes you get in a happy mood and has you singing along. But kind of seems like it's trying too hard to be wild like the She's So Unusual days of Cyndi. Also Pee-Wee Herman has a cameo voice as a 911 operator in the last 10 seconds.

10. One Track Mind 5/10

Definatly a obvious filler track. The title, the idea and the amazing instrumental backround has all the potential in the world but the underwelming vocals and the amazing backround that almost grows repedative ruins the song quite a bit. A weak ending to a good album.

OVERALL AVERAGE SCORE: B-

It went on to become Double-Platinum while not following the monster success to She's So Unusual it is worth being in your collection. It holds its own and is definatly worth a listen and for some a second listen as it has some growers.

"true colors" single is a classic..........2005-10-22

What can I say? I love Cyndi! I like her attitude. This 2nd effort is hers is a little bit off from her 1st album, but I just loved this album for its 2 outstanding tracks: "True Colors" and "Iko Iko"

"Iko Iko", although short, is a nice track to groove with, especially if you're performing the "chicken dance":-P. I just have a problem understanding the lyrics. I wish they would have an English translation of this song.

"True Colors" is simply amazing. It is always important to express and be yourself. Show the "true you". Cyndi delivers it in a whispering and melancholic manner, though. This is an excellent song to be played in dramas and soaps, and it will appeal mostly to emotional people, like me.

Give the CD a try, and be mesmerized with the haunting voice of Cyndi in "True Colors." Excellent CD cover too.

I was a little worried after reading some of the other customer reviews of this album. I bought it and after listening several times, I am not disappointed. I did think songs 12 and 14 are weaker than the others. I get a little bored listening to them; the lyrics are repetative. Pink Champaigne is my favorite. I am a fan of experimental electronic music. This album incorporates multi-dimensional sounds with upbeat rhythms and Annette's voice is lovely. I am a huge fan of this band and they have not let me down yet. I am excited to see what they produce in the future.

A Little Weirder than Expected.......2007-01-10

We loved Venus Hum's previous albums. In this one, there's a few good songs, but the group got very experimental--to the extent that some of the songs are downright annoying. The vocals, however, are never annoying.

Venus Hum does it again!.......2007-01-09

I was a huge fan of Big Beautiful Sky, so I was excited to listen to this CD when I finally got it. In my opinion, The Colors In The Wheel is even better than Venus Hum's first CD!

While the "Untitled" songs are rather annoying, the real songs are fantastic. My favorites are "Do You Want To Fight Me" and "Yes And No", but really, it's hard to pick a favorite. All of the songs on this cd are so good.

Venus Hum's music is soothing, energizing, beautiful, and poetic all at the same time. Listen to the samples, and if you like them, you'll like listening to the real thing even more.

Too much layered sonic junk, not enough Annette.......2006-11-17

I really love Big Beautiful Sky and Songs for Superheroes, but this album really misses in the production department, and fails to draw the listener in. It's hard to listen to - challenging - almost tiring to consume. I couldn't figure it out until recently, and now it's obvious. It's all the extra sonic junk in the mixes, that aren't rhythmically or harmonically useful. There are just oodles of bleeps and bloops and filtered swooshes that are layered on every song, and they really detract from the groove and melody, burying Annette's vocals and making for basically a confusing electronic art-music experiment rather than a professional CD. I would totally buy a remix of this CD that simply omitted all the sonic junk and put the vocals front and center as found in the prior 2 CD's.

Note that this has nothing at all to do with the songwriting or performance quality - it's just a production botch that could be fixed in a single day. As it is I can't stand to listen to the songs because there's just too much crud going on.

Mood perpetuates mood.......2006-10-21

For their third full-length album, Venus Hum change their sound a bit. Rather than effervescent synthy pop, they try out a dreamier, "Colours in the Wheel" embraces a dreamy, swirling brand of electronica -- think Flaming Lips by way of Aphex Twin, with Imogen Heap doing the vocals.

The change is pretty obvious with the first song. "Mood perpetuates mood... tears perpetuate tears/one lie touches the other find..." Annette Strean croons softly over a guitar ballad, which is woven through with thin ribbons of synth. After a brief, surreal interlude, we're off into the album full-force.

Harder electronic songs have their presence -- the sultry, semisexual "Yes and No" with its urgent beats ("My no means no/my yes means yes..."), and the sinuous, ominous electroglitch dancepop of "Do You Want to Fight Me?" These are flanked by brief noodling interludes, and a few softer, sweeter little pop songs.

That changes with the exquisite "Genevieve's Wheel," where Strean murmurs over sparkling, soft-edged electronica about "all the colours in the wheel/the wheel, the wheel." At the halfway point, the album becomes experimental, without losing the catchy edge, up until the synth-lullaby finale, "Go To Sleep."

Venus Hum tries for an edgier sound in "Colours of the Wheel," and most of the time that's exactly what they get. Okay, "Pink Champagne" lumbers where the other songs dance, and the interludes aren't really necessary. But the majority of these songs are effervescent and creative, with a wider range than Venus Hum displayed before.

Their main instrument is keyboard, which Kip Kubin and Tony Miracle twist into every imaginable kind of sound -- sometimes soft and mellow, sometimes swirling and sparkling, and sometimes in sharp electronic jabs reminiscent of their last album. There's also a spattering of more down-to-earth instrumentation, such as the acoustic guitar in the opening song.

Annette Strean apparently developed vocal nodes a few years back, but her voice sounds just as good as ever -- strong and flexible, sort of like Imogen Heap's spacier little sister. The lyrics tend to be a bit on the simple side, with lines often repeated, but in Strean's voice they sound quite good.

Venus Hum have some uneven spots in "Colours in the Wheel," but the darker, more experimental, still entrancing music is definitely worth getting your hands on.

I have loved this album for years. Somehow in my moves in recent years, I lost it, so I just HAD to replace it! What joy she gives with her music! The energy is so positive, sensitive and just downright enjoyable.

Whimsical reveries for solo piano.......2004-01-01

Redolant with imagination, fancy and emotion, the piano stylings of Liz Story are always appealing and the gentle, modern keyboard fantasies on "Solid Colors" are no exception. I normally prefer hearing the sounds of multiple instruments playing together, but Story's gentle, accoustic improvisations are so rich and varied that I find I really don't miss the backup band. Though this Narada CD tends to be classified in the nebulous, ever-widening net of "New Age" music, I'd categorize instead as light jazz, of the sort you'd expect to enjoy hearing over brunch at a fine city restaurant. It makes a great backdrop for a brunch of your own too, served warm at home for a few good friends. For more of Liz Story's stylish compositions and superb musicianship, check out her many other releases. If you enjoy her work, you may also like the work of pianist Keiko Matsui as heard on her albums "White Owl" and "Doll"--more orchestrated but equally whimsical and passionate.

Liz Story. What can I say? As a fellow pianist/composer, Liz put the joy & inspiration back into my playing. With her debut of Solid Colors, which, in my eyes, is her best of all, she gave me back a passion I lost over the years. When I serendipitously fell upon her first music anthology book, my heart actually began to race with excitement. Finally the songs I fell in love with, I could learn. Within a month, I had the entire book memorized & an entire new confidence came over me. Her style, rhythms, chord progressions et al, influenced & enlightened my playing. I also had the priviledge to see her in concert, hug her & have her sign my music anthology "Escape of the Circus Ponies". Pure acoustical genious. Thank you Liz. (check out my single CD "The Promise" while you're at it!)

Beautiful Solo Piano!.......2001-08-07

Solid Colors is a beautiful compilation of melodies, most of which where written by Story herself. This is one of her earlier works, released in 1982, and is also my favorite Liz Story cd. This cd ranges in a variety of emotion, which makes for a wonderful blend of music. Like George Winston, Liz Story is an anchor for Windham Hill Records. Bravo to Will Ackerman on his ability to showcase great talent (He is the founder of Windham Hill and incidently, produced this cd). She has a lovely flow to her playing. I listen to this cd over and over and over......For some reason, it reminds me of the Fall season. Maybe Solid Colors is a suitable autumn name afterall. If you aren't familiar w/ her music, this would make a great cd to start with. "17 Seconds to Anywhere" is another good one. I can tell you this, this is some great music to relax with and if you enjoy solo paino, then you'll love Solid Colors...any season, day or night!

Great relaxing CD that I can't get enough of!.......2000-06-28

I'm a student and usually listen to music to help me relax while studying. This one is my favorite! The melodies are nonintrusive and memorable. The entire CD flows like a river from beginning to end. If you like this particular Liz Story CD, check ot Jims Chapell's "DUSK", very similar and also listenable over and over.

Hooray for Hollywood.......2007-07-22

I bought this CD to go with an Academy Awards/Hollywood Walk-of-Fame theme party at work. It was the perfect accompaniment and mood setter.

It was February and a group of us decorated the lounge with black, gold, and silver tableclothes and balloon bouquets, and scattered around clap boards and faux film strip on the tables, along with movie trivia cards and black and gold wrapped mints. I made a walk-of-fame star for every employee and taped them on the walls around the room. We also laid down a red carpet from the entrance of the room to about the center with the decorated tables flanking both sides. We sat up the snack table with a sign that said, "Studio Commissary" and went with theme snacks like "James Bonbons with Halle Berry sauce," and "The Queen's scones." Each week we took a quarter of the walk-of-fame starts and posted them on the bulletin board for the staff to write peer compliments under. At the end of the week these stars were taken down and the next set of stars was posted.

This CD really set the mood for employees as they entered the lounge for the first time on that first day after it was decorated, and during the party at the end of the month. The month ended with an Academy Award party with an Oscar going to each employee for outstanding effort in whatever category (best dressed, best supporting staff member, most animated story teller, most pleasant entercom voice, most punctual, best sense of humor, most artistic, etc.), and they were given their stars with the peer compliments attached to the back. Everyone commented on how special they felt and how neat the theme was. Good morale booster.

This CD would also be perfect for the ambiance at your own Academy Awards party at home. Print out those ballots, cast your votes, pop some popcorn and pass around the Juji fruits, and let's watch the Oscars!

Kunzel & The Cincinnati Pops do a great job everytime, and this is no exception. I'm telling you, if you ever thought that purely intrumental/orchestral was unattractive, this will change your mind. Never a disappointment!

Movie Music.......2002-12-12

If you love that music from all those movies you've seen, then this is the CD you want! It is fantastic!! I want more!! I hope Erich Kunzel will come out with some music from older movies and maybe some TV programs. Listening to his music is better than watching the movie.

This is the absolute best CD they ever put together! And that is saying a lot as we are very picky about what music we like. This is the kind of music that makes you 'feel' deeply. It encourages you to dream big and love living! Forget the grooves, drums and bangs and listen to something incredibly beatiful! You won't be sorry for the money invested in this one bit of sanity in such a hectic world.

If you are looking for just one solid collection of memorable movie themes, this is it. Other CDs mix marches and fanfares with quieter tracks, which makes for a jarring listening experience at times. This CD, however, has a consistent feel all the way through. Melodic, calming, and, best of all, interesting. These movie tracks weren't selected simply for their sound, but also because they are GOOD. You get the best of the best: James Horner, Alan Silvestri, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Ennio Morricone, and Randy Edelman.

Great As Usual !!.......2004-05-14

"Colors" is just another wonderful project from the mighty Oak Ridge Boys. Age isn't slowing them down....if fact, I think they are speeding up!! I've been a fan for over 20 years now and will be until the end!! They do it better than ANYONE!!

Album worth keeping.......2003-12-21

I bought this album intenchionaly for my father. I watched him as he broke out into tears which he had not done for a long time. The one song on this album "G.I. Joe & Lilly" is in fact a true story about his mother and father. They both have passed on and are curently burried at Alinington National Cemetary but Joe Bonsall had wrote the song and in my eyes, I believe he did a great job and his parents would be proud of him. The song "An American Family" is a really nice song, it speaks of a family who lives in the house but it speaks of the whole family including the children and grand children. The song "Colors" is a very good song about the flag and this country, it shows thier respect for this country and what they believe in standing up for and that is this country. This album in my eyes is religous and the name Jesus and God is mentioned on the album quite a few times. If you would like to give a gift worth giving to a friend or a family member who is a Veteran of ANY war I would suggest you give him/her this album. As I said my father broke out in tears because of the music. I hope I helped you on your selection of this album, and I hope you do buy the album if only to suppose religion, veterans, or family.

Country Radio is missing out by not playing "Colors"!!!.......2003-08-05

It's hard to imagine the Oak Ridge Boys making a less than perfect album. "Colors" is more than just another patriotic flag-waving songs. G.I. Joe and Lillie is just the greatest song about the generation that brought us through WWII, and is especially touching to be the personal story of Joe's parents. (Read the book by the same name, it's great too!) "Colors" should be play on radio, but it isn't, which is further commentary on the sad state of today's Country Radio. And it's too bad too, as this album is just super. The Oak Ridge Boys continue to put out excellent work, and this is another in their long list of greats.

"RED as the bloodshed, BLUE as the wounded, WHITE as the crosses on our soldiers' graves... These colors never run!" From the very beginning of the first track (the title song, "Colors"), when those powerful words hit me, I knew this was going to be a special CD. And it is!

This CD is full of passion, patriotism, insight, faith, family, love, hope, & POWER HARMONY like only the Boys can sing it!

This is a must have CD for any Oak Ridge Boys fan, Country Music fan, &/or anyone who loves to listen to great harmony!

Another great CD from the fabulous Oak Ridge Boys, who just seem to get better and better year after year. Their patriotism and love of God shine proudly throughout this effort. Especially moving is "This Is America", penned by Norah Lee Allen, wife of lead baritone Duane Allen; and tenor Joe Bonsall's moving personal tribute to his beloved father and mother in "G.I. Joe and Lillie". "Colors" honors our American Flag and the sacrifices that have been made and are being made even today to keep this country free. Thank you Oak Ridge Boys for sharing your heartfelt beliefs and your immense talent with all of us.

For many a baby boomer, Walt Disney meant animation. But, besides that, music played an important part in the telling of the story. So interested in music was the animator that he fashioned one of his greatest triumphs ("Fantasia") on the works of the great masters.

Well, Donald Frasier and a bevy of musicians have compiled a wonderful collection of interpretations of familiar Disney tunes, many from Walt's time, along with a few latter day compositions.

Every selection is a winner, destined to make the listener reflect and recall the films from which they came. And if one is familiar with composer whose musical style is "copied" here, the album is a treasure.

Fabulous CD.......2006-10-04

Being a classical music connoisseur, I often listen to my local public classical radio station to hear the works of the great composers of old and of today. One day the station played "Colors of the Wind" and announced it was from this CD. I fell in love with it. I am a huge Disney fan who has over 350 Disney songs on my iPod. Pretty much the only music I listen to is either classical or Disney. And having them combined makes this CD euphoria for the ears.

Each song is in the style of a different classical composer, and usually in the style of one of their more specific songs. One with a trained ear will hear chords and melodies in almost perfect similitude of the original.

I can listen to this CD over and over and never get bored. How could you be bored when you're hearing all of your favorite old Disney songs in a new exciting way?

sleeping to Disney.......2006-07-30

I am really pleased that there is a classical music cd that has only Disney classics so that I can play them for my infant daughter while she sleeps. We are big Disney fans and it's fun to play these instead of the regular classical music. They sound just like the original songs. I would have given 5 stars but I wish they would have had all instrumental music, one of the songs has a choir singing, but it still sound good.

Disney music is always uplifting. Classical music is beautiful. Combine the two - and you get THIS! "Colors of the Wind" is glorious, followed by the enchanting title track. "Beauty and the Beast" is true to the romance of the original. "The Second Star to the Right" is magical. Everything is awesome - and flawless. I initially bought this because I love The Main Street Electrical Parade music, and that is definiely a highlight here - but so are ALL the other songs! This is GOOD STUFF! It is so excellent that it can be a very beneficial introduction to classical music - for kids AND adults.
