"William Duckworth's "Time Curve Preludes" are elegant studies in proportion and sonority, beautifully played by pianist Neely Bruce. With great economy of means Duckworth has molded his source material into twenty-four different shapes, some personal, others evocative of styles from plainchant to ragtime. His shifting, modal patterns unfold in a specially reverberant universe created by sustaining (with weights) certain of the keyboard's lowest notes. With pace and duration perfectly controlled, the preludes progress from sweetness to pungency with an elegiac inevitability."

Although the pieces here appear to be minimalist, they were generated using a very different approach. They become trancendent through variation, rather than monotony. Lovely listenable music for solo piano.
