Lorenzo Perosi: Stabat Mater; Suite n. 7 "Torino"
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
Much battered by critics for the conservatism of his style, Lorenzo Perosi (1872-1956) fares far better with the mass of classical listeners who rightly find his music, if not avant-garde or trailblazing, certainly beautiful, fresh and spiritual. Perosi was a priest who wrote 33 masses and several oratorios, and this Stabat Mater is one of his best-loved works. It was composed in 1898, the same year he was appointed music director of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. He was thus head of the Papal Choir.
Lorenzo Perosi: Stabat Mater; Suite n. 7 "Torino", Music, Carlo de Bortoli, Lorenzo Perosi, Orchestra dell'Accademia Stefano Tempia, Francesca Rotondo, Aldo Di Toro, Choral, Classical, Classical Composers, Classical Vocals, Orchestral, Orchestral Music, Sacred Choral Music
