Album Description

Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night" graces the cover of the 20-page booklet - included with the CD - wherein the "unstuffed" personalities of the great composers come to life. Finkelmeyer conjures visions of Debussy on the Jerry Springer Show ("kick him to the curb, honey!"), Chopin flying coach ("I didn't get my bag of nuts!"), and Liszt smashing instruments on stage (the original rock star).
Like his performances, this CD, by the award-winning pianist hailed a "virtuoso of both technical and emotional power", features fare for the first-time Classical music listener and pianophile alike. Debussy's favorite "Clair de lune", Gershwin's jazzy "Three Preludes" and the beloved "Pavane for a Dead Princess" by Ravel mingle successfully with the virtually unheard Leschetizky "Romance", Gottschalk's seldom recorded "Union" and the finger-twisting virtuosity of Liszt's "Faust Waltzes".

Christopher Finkelmeyer has a way of putting the music into your heart and soul. He has a wonderful way of presenting his music that is unique to all others in the business. His personality comes forth when the music begins and he draws you into his world, which is a place you want to be. Passionately Unstuffed speaks volumes to all who listen to it. I highly recommend it!!
Real Men, Real Music.......2001-06-22
The playing on this cd is come of the finest I have ever heard. Tone, sensitivity, interpretation, lyricism, rhythmic power and sense of humor... It's just about everything you could hope to hear from the instrument. But the effect of this particular cd is not limited to the sound. Somehow this artist achieved the effect of extending himself and the composers directly to listeners as if he were in performance. The humorous, personal descriptions he's included in his liner notes bring this experience to life in a unique way that has been extremely successful with my students. I whole-heartedly recommend Passionately Unstuffed and look forward to Mr. Finkelmeyer's next project.

Christopher Finkelmeyer: Passionatley Unstuffed.......2001-05-11
If you don't already love classical music, you will after listening to this album. It is intended for people who may be new to classical piano, but it is not the typical hodge-podge of light-weight snippets. Some of the pieces, such as Debussey's Clair de Lune, will be familiar to almost everyone, but Mr. Finkelmeyer plays them with such depth and feeling that one hears them as if for the first time. Most listeners will actually hear pieces such as Leschetizky's Consolation in B Major for the first time on this CD and wonder why it is not more popular. Mr. Finkelmeyer makes these and other slower, lyrical pieces sound easy, but his playing of Ginastera's Dance of the Artful Cowboy will immedately erase any doubts about his virtuosity. He is a powerhouse of music, yet even in the fastest pieces every note retains its clarity and brilliance.
Mr. Finkelmeyer's intelligence and wit shine not only in his playing, but also in the 20-pages of notes. His light-hearted comments on the composers and the music contribute immensely to the enjoyment of the music, but even without the CD they would be worth the price. If, Heaven forbid, Mr. Finkelmeyer ever tires of playing piano, he could have a second career as a comedy writer.
Buy this album for yourself, and buy several copies for your friends, especially the young ones, who think they hate classical music.

I love the entire CD and the variety of musical pieces. Although I particularly love the middle compositions. They are so beautiful and peaceful. They melt the stress away while at the same time giving you energy.
