Elizabeth Dolin is a distinguished member of the Canadian symphonic and chamber music communities. As associate principal cellist of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra for three seasons, she established a reputation as one of Canada’s finest practitioners of the art. Throughout her career, responses both popular and critical have continually referred to the subtle quality of her tone, her refined musicality and her strong technical abilities. Bernadene Blaha, whether featured as recitalist, orchestra soloist or chamber musician has been heralded throughout Canada, Europe, and Asia and gave two highly acclaimed recital appearances at Carnegie Recital Hall and the Lincoln Center Library. Together, they won the first prize (Duo Category) at the International Chamber Music Competition in Florence (Italy). Dolin and Blaha give a brilliant and sensible performance, letting auditors into the secret of Mendelssohn's art of cello and piano music.

      I enjoyed the CD immensely--both players perform beautifully. The cello sounds wonderful and has a great balance across the strings. The editing of the Variations and the Bb Sonata is terrific and adds considerable cellistic interest.
