Album Description
Trinidad Huerta (1803-1874) was known in mid nineteenth-century Paris as "The Paganini of the Guitar." He performed throughout Spain, Portugal, London and Paris and was the first classical guitarist to concertize in the United States. Applauded at the height of his career by the likes of Victor Hugo and Hector Berlioz, he died in poverty and remains forgotten to this day. This CD is a world-premiere recording of all Huerta's extant works.

5 out of 5 stars What guitars are MEANT to sound like.......2003-04-08

In a world of Hair Bands and electronic pedals, Stuart Green shows us how beautiful, melodic and captivating classical guitar can be. His talents, paried with the moving works of Huerta, create a listening experience you'll have to play several times over to catch each nuance and run. The only thing better than listening to this CD, would be to hear Green play it in person.

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful fascinating work of Spanish classical guitar.......2003-01-23

This recording is fabulous. The guitar sounds clear and clean with great presence and warmth. Stuart Green is definitely a master of the classical guitar. His playing is pure and subtle with no sign of effort or harshness. He draws the music out of the guitar letting it rise and fall in a natural fluid sound. Although it still contains a controlled edge of dissonance that Huerta masterfully composed into his work. The soprano and piano are also beautiful being at once sweet and melancholy. If you like classical guitar or if you just want to hear a clean and clear recording of the guitar, then you will love this work.
