Very disappointing, considering what it could have been.......2007-04-20
Take a look at the running times:
Disc 1: 60 minutes
Disc 2: 50 minutes
Disc 3: 61 minutes
Disc 4: 58 minutes
What gives Silva? There is *MUCH* more John Williams in the silva screen back catalogue by the Prague Philharmonic than what is in this set, and thats not including their entire discs devoted to Star Wars Films, Indiana Jones Trilogy etc. Why isn't Hook "When You're Alone" included on Disc 2? There's room. Why isn't 1941 on Disc 1? There's room. Why isn't Earthquake on Disc 3? There's room. Why isn't Far and Away on disc 4? There's room. Where's the other ten minutes of the Rare Breed suite on disc 3? Why isn't Midway on disc 1? Where are the Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel and Lots In Space tv themes? Etc. Etc. Etc.
C'mon Silva, most of these 4 disc mega boxes released in the past few years are packed to the brim, but not this one, and with new recordings made after this was released (the terminal, munich, geisha, war of the worlds, star wars ep 3, harry potter 3), it only makes sense for a "re-do" in the next couple of years.
Further, with Silva releasing the 100 Greatest Film Themes on six discs in a couple of months, it's only a matter of time before we see the ultimate six disc john williams set.
This isn't a BAD set to own, but it could have been much better and when compared to the Jerry Goldsmith and John Barry sets in this same series, this one is a major letdown.
Always a pleaser.......2007-03-31
I listen to music all day with patients in my dental chair. This one is a winner with everyone. Patients always comment on how they recognize a song. Who doesn't love John Williams? His music transcends time.
JOHN WILLIAMS 40 Years of Film Music.......2007-01-10
This 4 cd pack is an anthology of all John Williams works. From his earlier works "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Jaws" right through "Indiana Jones" and the most recent"Star Wars" prequel movies are included. Williams work in thriller and horror are also included. If you are into soundtracks and love movie music this is an essential buy. The quality of the music is excellent. With ten or more tracks on each cd it's well worth the money.
Movie Music Magic & Memorabilia.......2006-12-13
This four CD set expands on the previously released John Williams Greatest Hits. It's a grand collection of nearly four hours of famous music scores from over forty years. There are many songs never before available in any collection. The short liner notes tell a great tale of musical movie history and include all of his numerous award nominations and wins. Each song (oddly enough) mentions the actors and the director, so fond are John Williams's memories of his work with these people. All of the conductors are mentioned along with specific orchestras, choirs, arrangement and orchestration specialists and even the publishers (contractual, I am sure). The only things missing are his early television scores, such as those for "Lost In Space" (by Johnny Williams back then). But with four discs, one has nothing to complain about and everything to enjoy!
John Williams: 40 Years of Outstanding Film Music.......2006-11-28
I have been a huge fan of John Williams and I have known about his music for years. However, I never actually bought any of his music on CD. I was rather skeptical about purchasing this CD but when it arrived I knew I had made the right choice. The sound quality of the compilation is outstanding. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra do a great job under the direction of Paul Bateman. The original London Symphony Orchestra CDs of John Williams' Star Wars Trilogy CDs are marginally better but this is still a great CD compilation. If you love ET, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, you will love this compilation soundtrack. Buy it, listen to these CDs in the car and enjoy every minute of the collection!!!

Awesome soundtrack, but, oh!.......2007-01-13
This is an amazing soudtrack, one of William's best. I'm not going to explain how good it is, you have to buy it and listen to it yourself to realize the genius in this. However, I just finished watching Jurassic Park 1 (I've gotten into the tradition of watching it once a year; that way, I don't remember everything each time I watch it), and I noticed one piece of music that is not on this CD! In the beginning, after the incident at Isla Nublar, right before you see Grant and the other guys digging for fossils, you see the Spanish guy (or whatever he is) say that the other guy can't get (Alan) Grant. He tells him, "Because Grant's like me...he's a digger." Listen to the music. Isn't that awesome!!? Then there's more music when you see Grant digging. I can't believe they left that out. I'd pay twenty dollars more just to have that on the CD. Just think: Track 4 - Digging for Fossils.
Now don't get me wrong - it seems like nearly everything is on the CD(unlike certain others [i.e. Dead Man's Chest]), so I'm glad for that. But still!!! Just a WEEE bit more music and it would've been perfect. Oh Well. The stuff that's on here is brilliant enough.
Along with "Superman - The Movie", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and, of course, the Star Wars Trilogy, this is one of the best soundtracks ever created, and some of the greatest music ever made. Why get some overrated junk like Lord of the Rings when you can get this classic?
Among Williams' Best!.......2007-01-09
I recently bought this soundtrack because I've wanted it for a long time. I love it! It doesn't dissapoint at all. Pay attention especially to the Main Title and Journy to the Island, some of my favorite music is on those tracks. However, I also love it when the main theme recurrs in piano, like in Welcome to Jurassic Park. Eye to Eye is also one of my favorites, because it's mainly about the raptors and the "kitchen scene" as I call it. Just listening to it almost gives me goosebumps! Anyway, this is definitely among John Williams' best compositions. I would recommend it to everyone!
Jurassic Park.......2006-12-30
I heard the main theme on the Olympics opening montage thing during the last Summer Olympics--big surprise, right, seeing as he wrote most of the Olympic themes--so that should give you an idea of the grandeur in it. Of course, he dabbles in synthetics for tense Mission Impossible sneaking around scenes, and there's plentiful creepy Raptor runs (think of the Dementor stuff in 'Prisoner of Azkaban'), but the main theme is what really sells the soundtrack.
One of his greatest.......2006-07-28
I love Jurassic Park. I love the music. It has all the greatness of Star Wars and JAWS combined with even more greatness....that's all I can think of...;)
A great soundtrack........2006-07-08
The themes and emotions of Jurassic Park are felt when you listen to this soundtrack. I love Theme from Jurassic Park and Journey to the Island. This is a great soundtrack. It pulls together several main themes that you hear and know that you are listening to Jurassic Park. You can feel the adventure of the movie come out through the music of this soundtrack. It is a must-have for music and movie fans alike.

Solid John Williams performance.......2007-04-26
Jurassic Park is one of my favorite John Williams movie scores. From beginning to end, the music sets the tone of the movie and the theme has become almost as recognizable as some of his other works. The "Journey to the Island" track is one of the best on there as the tempo matches beautifully with crossing the water and coming upon this amazing scene that no one has ever witnessed. Besides the obvious Williams scores that every movie lover should own (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc), I would add this one right on the list.
Another great piece from a premier music maker.......2006-10-10
While "Jurassic Park," with its tale of cloning long-extinct dinosaurs and bringing them to life in the present, is steeped in contemporary possibilities, "The Lost World" is more a throwback to the "big monster" films of the 1950's. Thus, John Williams does more of a Max Steiner/"King Kong" thing with the score to the latter. It is bombastic, frenetic, resulting in a composition of thrilling brilliance. Some of the themes from the first score are interpolated differently and are almost subtle in their execution, but that befits a story wherein much of the action takes place in modern-day San Diego, involving a "fish-out-of-water" Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Williams effectively uses tribal drums throughout to convey the "jungle feel," regardless of the on-screen setting. The best cut of all is "The Hunt," a truly exciting piece that reminds one of Jerry Goldsmith's similarly-titled selection from the classic "Planet of the Apes."
The score to "The Lost World" is far superior to the composer's later work for such Spielberg fare as "Minority Report" and "The War of the Worlds," scores that lack the depth and ingenuity of the former.
"The Lost World" can stand almost toe-to-toe with the composer's landmark creations for "Jaws" and "Star Wars."
Excellent (Dark) Follow Up To Jurassic Park.......2006-06-03
This is an excellent album by John Williams that stands as a milestone in thematic action. It features passionate orchestra music, (like the strongly dramatic Rescuing Sarah) and some excellent themes, (featured in "The Hunt" "Main Titles" and "Malcolm's Journey" most strongly.)
Overall, I highly reccomend this album to any music fan out there, John Williams can't compose the wrong music.
And now for something completely different!.......2006-01-29
Different film ... different soundtrack! You can count on the genius of John Williams to create something so daringly 'different' and 'new', certainly when compared with his music for 'Jurassic Park'. It is a sign of highest artistic honesty that John williams here went ahead without trying to cash in on the success of his music for 'Jurassic Park' by reusing any of his themes from that film, only just hinting at them now and then. The only time when the renowned 'big themes' come along is during the final 'Finale and Jurassic Park Theme'. I like to see this as a little reward to the listener, as if John Williams is saying: I have created something completely new, and I really appreciate that you like it, so now I would like to treat you with a nice encore.
Anyhow, artistically, John Williams simply HAD to take another direction, because the wide-eyed wonder and happy excitement of the first Jurassic Park could of course not be repeated in The Lost World. With The Lost World we have taken the next logical step: the overwhelming awe and excitement of Jurassic Park (seeing dinosaurs alive for the very first time!) has worn of and has been replaced by darker sentiments. The Lost World is not - like in Jurassic Park - about the awe and humility before the beauty and intricacy of Nature and the fear of incontrolability of scientific experiments. The Lost World necessarily had to go beyond that: what to do now that 'bad guys' have taken over. (That is why Jurassic Park III was an artistic failure: it didn't take the next logical step, but was just repeating the same moves again in a rather uninspired way, causing it to become an uninspired movie of much lower artistic quality.)
John Williams' music for The Lost World is indeed approprately 'different'. There are no stately or grand themes to be found here to carry the musical (and dramatic) argument. The music for The Lost World is more like a constantly pumping nervous heartbeat. This music for The Lost World is not as 'operatic' like that for Jurassic Park. Here, there aren't any 'resolutions' with grand and magnificent, easily recognizable themes. But in their place has come music of great subtlety and intricacy, creating more of a darker 'undercurrent' that flows with the emotions and events as they pass along in the movie. Much of the music is characterized by dissonance, all marvellously done of course (what else would you expect from John Williams!), underpinning the tensions and (nearing) danger. In the action-centered pieces, or in the music which accompanies tense situations, John Williams makes even more use of (exotic) percussion here than in Jurassic Park. For example, 'The Hunt' and 'The Raptors Appear' are quite exciting musical romps.
All in all, this music for The Lost World is indeed very, very different from the music from jurassic Park, and therefore quite refreshing to the ears of this listener. I, for one, am very glad that John Williams - in all his artistic honesty - has chosen to compose this specific music. These two soundtracks stand aside one another as total but very different masterworks for the movies, and can BOTH easily be listened to on their own as independent works of musical artistry.
Brilliant Soundtrack To A Brilliant Movie.......2005-08-10
This soundtrack is brilliant, just as brilliant as the excellent sequel to the first Jurassic Park film. The movie got a great soundtrack and its just what it deserved. The soundtrack is nothing like the first one so I won't compare it, which it shouldn't be compared to the first soundtrack anyways, in this CD, the score is more darker and adventurous, more of a tribal feeling, there are some very memorable tracks on here, especially some like 'Rescuing Sarah' and 'Finale and Jurassic Park Theme'. Excellent soundtrack to an excellent movie. Soundtrack: 10/10. Might as well give movie rating: 10/10. :) Buy this soundtrack if your a fan of classical music, Jurassic Park or you just like collecting CD's of all types. You definetly won't be dissapointed, and while you at it, you might as well get Jurassic Park on CD too, its just as good, and is more cheerful and soothing. So be sure to buy both. I did. I kind of recommend getting the Jurassic Park /// soundtrack but if you only have money for two, then buy the first two because JP///'s soundtrack isnt' anything amazing but still a great soundtrack nonetheless.

The Only Demonstration Disc You'll Ever Need.......2006-06-10
Well, I suppose that depends on the type of music you're testing your equipment for. However, go to almost any online discussion of audio equipment, particularly subwoofers, and you'll come across this disc. Sure, most of the other reviewers mention the sound effects in less than glowing terms. It remains though that this disc contains some of the crazy lowest signals one can buy on disc. The T rex footsteps shake the windows in my house despite being below my hearing range with my Velodyne 12" sub. Incredible stuff. And the glass shattering sound effects in the Terminator theme can melt your tweeters too if turned up too loud. Don't take yourself too seriously for a few minutes and enjoy the noise!
Beyond that, musically this is one of the Cincinatti Pops' finest soundtrack collections. Perhaps the best. Almost all of their recordings are sonically of the highest quality (Copland: Music of America won a Grammy for best engineering), but all too often in recent years the releases have not met the standard of this album. Arrangers that don't begin to care what the composer's intent was or tacking on pre-fab endings are the worst offenders, but most of the selections here meet or exceed the quality of the original soundtracks. All around, a great soundtrack collection.
An Adventure For Your Ears.......2004-06-01
The Cincinnati Pops do an excellent job of faithfully reproducing movie soundtracks and this album is a perfect example. In fact after listening to this CD a few times, I tracked down some of the original soundtracks because I enjoyed the selections on here, such as the "El Cid" music and "Jurrasic Park." I also really enjoyed the music from "Henry V" "Robin Hood,"and "Hunt for Red October." The different tracks go together surprisingly well, like many of the pops other thematic CD's. While it might be helpful to have seen some of the movies the soundtracks come from, it is not crucial. The added soundeffects are a little gimmicky, but fairly short and on seperate tracks, so they can be skipped. If you enjoy movie soundtracks, this is a great investment.
Blows Away All Other Such Compilations!.......2003-04-02
"Caution: Digital Sound Effects of high levels with intrasonic frequencies to 5 Hz. Please establish safe playback levels before playing tracks [3], [5], [19], [20], and [21]. Excessive playback levels could result in damage to equipment."
The above quote is found prominantly on the back cover and is a warning not to be taken lightly. The respective tracks are awesome and should be played, as well as listened to, with great care.
A 20-bit digital recording that is perfect for surround-sound systems, "The Great Fantasy Adventure Album" is a wonder for fans of the sci-fi/fantasy film genre. Highlighting some truly landmark films, the 1994 release showcases compositions from the legends of past and contemporary film scoring. Themes from the likes of Rosza, Williams, Horner, Herrmann, and Elfman are grandiosely featured here.
The best cuts are Goldsmith's "Total Recall: Main Title", "Conan the Barbarian: Anvil of Crom" (Poledouris), and Brad Fiedel's "Terminator: Theme".
Upon hearing this trio, chills will not just go up the spine but will permeate every ounce of one's body
The perfect movie theme collection.......2000-08-16
I have a good number of Kunzel CDs, but this one could easily be called "Mark's Favorite Movie Themes." It doesn't matter that I have many of these repeated on other CDs; it saved me the trouble of having to burn my own 'faves' disc. It's good to see Basil Polodouris' "Conan" and "Red October" themes, he's often overlooked as a film composer, in my book, and regardless what one might think of the movie, the Conan score is still probably the best thing he's ever done. And the hard-to-find "Terminator" theme is hard NOT to listen to, with its highly unusual rythmic motif. I enjoy all the music selections, but having James Horner's sublime theme from "The Rocketeer" was well worth the price of the CD by itself. This is what a movie themes CD should be, and it helps that I happen to like Kunzel's choice of selections, for once. The sound effects that typically accompany these CDs are generally annoying, but I like the sonar segue into "Red October," and the T-Rex roar that precedes "Jurassic Park" is useful for scaring kids at Halloween.
This is the best cd I have ever bought.......1999-10-27
No words can compare how remarkable this cd is. Combined with incredible sound quality, this cd will twist and turn you emotions with every single score. i can honestly say that this disc is the perfect relaxation and energizing thing ever.

Great Movie Scores and Great Music!!!.......2007-07-14
I love movie theme music, especially action movies. The music on this CD is exactly like the music I heard in the theater. Wonderfully scored and mastered. You will love it!!!!
Possibly better than the original recordings........2005-01-16
Let me start by saying that this is a great CD. If you have lowered your expectations at the sight of seeing "Pops Orchestra" on the cover, I beg you to reconsider. This isn't some thrown-together congregation of neophyte musicians, this is a glorious symphonic sound. I will go as far to say that most of the performed tracks on this CD are better than the original movie recordings. Also, Telarc, as I am learning more and more, seems to have mastered the art of recording and mastering the orchestra, as the quality of this CD is stellar, not to mention in surround sound!! This CD should be owned by anyone who is a fan of the symphonic film score.
A Must for People who can't afford all these soundtracks.......2000-06-26
I have to say I was a little skeptical about a Cd that claimed to have all these great soundtracks on one CD. After listening to it though i was amazed at how close it was to actually having each sound track. I was thankful that I had not bought all of these soundtracks. This is a must have.

Don Davis's classical training and years as journeyman film and TV composer and orchestrator to the likes of James Horner (Titanic, Apollo 13) and Randy Newman (Toy Story, Pleasantville) paid off handsomely with the pioneering, postmodernist-informed The Matrix, one of the 1990s' most acclaimed and adventurous film scores. Now Davis has taken on another daunting task: updating John Williams's iconic Jurassic Park themes and integrating them seamlessly into his own furiously modern take on scoring. The composer has followed director Joe Johnston's lead, matching the director's darker, more tension-wracked vision of the mega-successful dino series with an accomplished score that evokes both wonderment and terror, often (as in "Raptor Room") in the space of a few jarring bars. Davis's accomplished use of orchestral color and dynamics is a crucial element that seamlessly fuses actors and CGI-saurs, shading both with crucial emotional dimensions. And unlike all too many generic action scores, this one won't insult your intelligence as it builds to the modernist maelstrom of "Clash of Extinction" and heroic thematic resolve of "The Hat Returns"/"End Credits." Adding a welcome dose of humor, the album concludes with a typically jaunty turn by Davis patron Randy Newman on "Big Hat, No Cattle." --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Interesting Addition to the Jurassic Park Library.......2004-11-18
Jurassic Park III, marks the first time JOhn Williams did not score a JP movie. Don Davis enters the picture and gives a dynamic score that is nowhere near as dark as Williams' Lost World music but at the same time is darker than the original. He also deftly melds Williams' original themes with his own music, never overusing the original themes, which sometimes happens in scores by other composers. OVerall its a thrill ride score that is highly entertaining and enjoyable, except for the last track which features a song by composer Randy Newman. Attention: Randy Newman cannot sing, stop putting him on cds. Thanks!
Recycled Williams tunes plus mediocrity from Davis.......2004-03-07
I did find Matrix composer Don Davis a bizarre choice to replace John Williams for Jurassic Park III. He pulled off the job with efficiency but nothing of HIS creation excites or provokes. The best parts of the score are simply Williams' themes from the first two movies. I liked the movie (even tho it had a very, very poor ending) but it just did not give ANY composer anything new to work with at all. All JPIII could be is a 'same again' score.
Davis' contribution is mainly the highly orchestrated chaos that matches the b-movie set pieces. There's not much a composer can do in this situation and I guess this makes the JPIII score the best it can be. Tho still average compared to Williams' work on the first 2 movies.
This CD is 'enhanced', which means as soon as you stick it in your computer you get bombarded with sound effects and a menu screen in which you can look at stills from the movie, view the trailer or look at some boring text about dinosaurs.
You almost can't tell it isn't Williams........2004-02-17
Being the first series entry not directed by Steven Spielberg, it should come as no big surprise that Jurassic Park III is also the first series entry not to be scored by John Williams. Not that you could tell all that much, composer Don Davis worked very hard to make his score sound as if Williams himself had done the honors, striving to keep the score sounding as similar to the previous entries as possible. The result is a score that at first appears a seamless continuation of Williams work, but then Davis's new themes and touches bleed through. This score is no boring retread. Recommended.
JP3 score ranks up there with the first two.......2002-11-16
A while back on a website, there was a special feature where Don Davis was answering questions about the score and his involvement in it. I e-mailed him and he graciously responded. I asked him what his theme was in relation to Williams' theme and if the score was as big and bold as his scores for the first two. He responded by saying that he wrote a theme for the family in the film and he had some thematic material for the Spinosaurus, although this theme is derived from the Jurassic Park theme. It was his objective to match Williams' style in terms of boldness. He wrote the score Williams would have, but Davis' own musical signature was also present throughout. The music sounds very large and powerful and Williams' themes are present in several cues throughout. The music is very challenging for the musicians with fierce string writing and brass lines. Williams' tended to use the timpani for his scores, but Davis uses the snare drum for this one. Williams' themes occur most notably in "The Dinosaur Fly-By", "Brachiosaurus on the Bank", and "The Hat Returns/End Credits". Davis' themes occur throughout in several of the tracks, most notably in the "End Credits". I think Don Davis did a great job in taking over the job of a legendary film composer. It's not easy to follow in the footsteps of someone like that, but Davis did it with no trouble.
GREAT!.......2002-11-11
I have heard them all and this one is also good!!!

Customer Reviews:
the best music ever.......2004-02-19
My daughter ( at age 17) bought this CD and played it at home. I instantly fell in love with the music. It is the most incredible music I have ever listened to. I put it on my computer so that every time I am on
-line I can listen to it.
Greatest hits of classical music.......2001-08-13
The use of the words "from the Movies" in the title of this compilation is misleading. While there are a handful of titles that were great originals from movies (the Star Wars theme, for example), the majority of the music is simply great classical music that happened to show up in a movie. This technicality aside, the music was amazing. The clarinet concerto and the Puccini opera from "Witches of Eastwick" are two of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.
An excellent collection of classic music from great movies.......2001-08-03
I belong to that camp of people who think that if Mozart was alive today he would be writing scores for theatrical films. The best thing about "Music From the Movies" is that it combines the use of classical music in movies, such as Wagner's "The Ride of the Valkyries" in "Apocalypse Now" and Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro" in "A Room With a View" with John Williams' "Main Title" from "Jurassic Park" and the "John Dunbar Theme" from John Barry's score for "Dances With Wolves." Unfortunately of the 33 tracks on this 2-disc set, only the last half-dozen or so are by contemporary composers. So the chief charm of this collection remains that it allows you to identify the classic music used in movies such as "Platoon," "A Clockwork Orange," "Wall Street," and "Kolya." Placido Domingo and Herbert Von Karajan are representative of the singers and conductors included in this collection, which is truly one of the better sets featuring classical music in the movies.
This is nourishment for the soul!.......2001-06-04
I ordered this CD to get one piece of music only. What I received in reality was a compilation of masterpieces to refresh and enliven my very soul. The operatic selections are well known pieces performed by 'the great ones' (i.e Placido Domingo). Here you get the best of opera without having to endure what the uneducated would consider tendious. Additionally, I was surprised to discover how many movies themes were excerpts from the classics. This CD includes the name and movement of each selection, as well as the performer. It is a wonderful appetizer before investing in a full meal. I didn't begin with this intention, but now I want to hear complete pieces; anticipating a new excitment for many of the composers.

With five Oscar(r) wins and 41 nominations, Williams is a master of his art. The set also features other Spielberg collaborations including Quincy Jones, Jerry Goldsmith, and Billy Goldenberg. From "Duel" (a premiere recording) to "The Terminal," this release is a journey through movie magic.

mediocre mess, nonetheless worth having for some.......2005-07-07
If you've never purchased one of these Silva Screen best-of score CDs, let me first say this: unless you're a true film-score nut (like me), don't do it. Just don't. They really aren't terribly good. This one, like most, is played by The city of Prague Philharmonic, and it's not a terribly talented orchestra. They play very flatly, they miss notes, their orchestrator makes odd changes to composers' music. The end result of all this is that if you're familiar with the film versions of the pieces of music they're playing, it can be, frankly, a bit difficult to listen to.
That said, there is one decent -- decent, mind you -- reason to buy this CD. That's for the five-minute track of music from Spielberg's "Duel." It isn't great music, by any means, but if you're a Spielberg fanatic, this is the only release there has ever been (to my knowledge, at least) of music from that movie.
To be fair, not all of the tracks here are poorly done. "Hymn to the Fallen" comes off fairly well, and so does the music from "A.I." and "The Terminal" -- and the "Minority Report" theme is actually quite good. But much of the rest just doesn't sound right, so if you're looking for a quick way to assemble a quality overview of Spielberg music, this isn't the way to go.
That brings me to my final complaint, which is that "The Lost World" is omitted entirely! There were several good themes done for that movie; it was no mere rehash of "Jurassic Park."
For the seriously devoted only.

great sampler of Williams career; cheap price.......2005-08-20
Intersounds records has put together a great one disc compilation of music from the career of John Williams. Most of the tracks are taken from Intersounds' "Magic of the Movies" CD series from a few years ago performed by Mexico City's Orchestra of the America under the baton of Bill Broughton (brother of popular composer Bruce). The playing is first rate and the liner notes are informative as well. In addition, a couple of the tracks are performed by the San Diego Symphony Pops Orchestra under the baton of Lalo Schifrin (composer of the famous Mission Impossible theme). Pick this one up if you are a casual film music fan who hasn't heard much of John Williams, or if you are someone who wants to hear another orchestra's take on the music of the maestro.
