Churchscapes, as the Name Implies, is the Performance of Soundscapes in Churches and Cathedrals. The Choice of Venues is Deliberate. The Music is Informed by the Space Provided and Utilizes that Space in Return, the Intent of the Composer to Produce a Form of "Devotional Music" as "Personal Thanksgiving" as Mentioned in the Sleevenotes.

Very meditative and relaxing.......2007-07-18

The perfect CD to relax and unwind to. I like all of Robert Fripp's Soundscapes. However, this "Churchscapes" is very appropriately titled as it has a very spirtual overtone and I find it very peaceful and theraputic. I think it would have been a wonderful experience to hear this live in the settings it was recorded.

I wound up playing this through about three times on the first listen and I have played again since then (all in one day). I highly recommend it and I believe it is a great addition to anyone who appreciates Fripps solo soundscapes.

Absolutely gorgeous.......2006-08-31

More folk than electronic (at least compared to Four Tet, etc.), this is all strummed and fingerpicked guitars with a little glitchy accent here or there, and occasional tape-loop voices from instructional records (reminiscent of The Books). The tranquil, mellow rural vibe here is all their own, though, with a Bert Jansch or Richard Thompson British folk influence that lends it a depth that other "folktronica" acts can't deliver. Lyrics are good, too, and actually an important part of the music vs. just another atmospheric element. If there's any criticism, it's a little uniform and some might find it too similar beginning to end, but I appreciate that they know they've got a mood they're trying to sustain throughout.

I recently (2003) saw Inner Rhythm (Robert Jospe's group) play at the University of Virginia for the first time. What a FANTASTIC group. I've been listening to jazz for 30 years and this group is right up there with the best of them. Great album.

F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!.......2006-02-02

I've got the original music (including v2 and v3), the books (the best is Heitland's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Book; still in print);
the 22 VHS tapes issued in the early 1990's (a haphazard collection issued in no particular order of episodes that boasted famous guest stars). Can I please get the whole series on DVD? I have not seen Mother Fear toying with Illya (The Children's Day Affair) in over 40 years.

Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.

Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.

And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.

Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.

This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.

Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.

So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Young Ed and Cellski do a great job with album. Cellski did all the producing and has guest appearances on several tracks. The beats can be compared with the best of them. Hitman and San Quinn are guests on the track Young Life. Young Ed was a senior in highschool when he recorded this album. He's a San Francisco native with several guest appearances on compilations and various albums. This album is a must have for any San Francisco Bay Area rap fan. The original 1996 release may be hard to find, but the 2003 rerelease can be easily found. This is a great album, with 5 star beats and lyrics. Give it a try, it may have to grow on you, but once it does you'll be happy you bought it.

4 and a Half stars actually. Great stuff, not too original.......2005-02-12

First off, Richard Andersson can play his (...) off. This guy and his whole band are immensely talented. I am a massive pathological fan of Symphony X. It is a disease I have. I had no idea that Time Requiem set out to model themselves after SyX, but indeed, this is what Andersson states on his website. And he has succeeded. But they can do more....

The title track shows what these guys are made of, it is astounding, and integrates lots of styles, pieces, techniques and tidbits that all come together really well. To me at least, that is the standout track on the whole album. The rest are very good (very), but the writing style is too much Michaels Romeo/Pinnella and Russell Allen and not the Time Requiem guys themselves.

Even the title track, with its sweeping content and styles is very SyX influenced, but it is trully an awesome piece of music for lovers of classically influenced metalish rock. Great bombast and fanfare.

The 1 thing that makes me keep listening to this album is the great keyboards. Andersson simply cranks. Amazing. Sort of like a more irrational Derek Sherinian. The rest of the players are top notch. I love the keyboard led aspect of this band. If they can find their own sound, they will have a fan for life.

I can't wait till their next album to see of they evolve their sound toward what this one shows they can do. They just need the confidence to have their own voice and not rely too much on other influence. A solid 4.5 stars....

Well Done Prog Metal.......2004-09-06

I'm surprised at the lack of reviews that this album has (at the moment, anyway). This is my first taste of Time Requiem, and I am very impressed with it. For those of you who are new to this band, they play neo-classical prog metal and have a very similar sound to bands like Symphony X and Adagio (both of whom come highly recommended). The only thing I can find wrong with this band is that they sometimes sound a little too much like the previously mentioned bands, and don't have much of a distinct sound. I wouldn't go as far to say that they are a rip-off of those other bands, they just aren't bringing anything new to the table (but when it's done this well, it doesn't really matter). Aside from that, everything else about the album is great. The instrumental talent they possess is incredible, especially the keyboardist. Despite the skill level of the musicians, they still have a writing style that makes the songs memorable as well as technical, and don't get caught up in just showing off. They are very tight as a band, and most of the songs are fast, catchy, and very well played. They slow things down on occasion, but none of the songs can really be considered "ballads". Hearing the vocals on this CD was also a relief. Usually a very talented group can be ruined by a bad vocalist, and while not amazing, this vocalist is very good. He never gets annoying, and doesn't have any irritating habits (for example, James Hetfeild's tendency to say "yeah" 27 times per song). Although, he does sometimes strain a little on those high notes, but overall does a nice job. The obvious classical influence in the music throughout the album is also something I highly enjoy. Well, that's about all I can think of to say at the moment, but this is an album that will definetly be spending a good amount of time in my CD player. Is it breaking new ground? No. Is it high quality prog metal? Yes. Was it worth the money I spent? Absolutely. For me, that's all that really matters in the end. Recommended. I just edited a couple spelling errors, so I hope this review doesn't come up twice.
