The Art of the Harpsichord.......2002-03-28

This album, with Trevor Pinnock at the helm, displays some remarkable keyboarding. The album takes some lesser known Renaissance tunes and presents them with virtuosity, flair, and class. While Byrd's "Watkins Ale" and Dowland's "Lachrimae and Galliard" might be known to some afficionados, the majority of the pieces here would be a pleasant addition to any collector of harpsichord or Renaissance music.

Notes on the tunes are included with the CD.

One drawback to this album: I prefer each tune to be a separate track on a CD. This is not the case with this album, which makes it difficult for me to hop right to my favorite piece. This is especially irritating if the piece I enjoy is "buried" within the track. And if you mind the long wait (4-6 weeks) for Amazon.com's delivery, this also might be a drawback. Though for me, this album would be worth any wait.
