5 out of 5 stars LATINISISISISIMO!!!!!!!.......2007-05-06

Ray Conniff demostrando que puede ser un fantastico arreglista de melodias latinas tan clasicas como BESAME MUCHO y TENTACION (que grandes interpretaciones al estilo Conniff); incluyendo canciones tan lindas como STRANGER IN PARADISE, la movidisima I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN, grandes baladas como SOFTLY AS IN A MORNING SUNRISE, NIGHT AND DAY, la preciosas y melancolicas DEEP PURPLE y SUMMERTIME, y alegres piezas como TOO YOUNG y SAY IT WITH MUSIC; un gran disco infaltable en cualquier coleccion de todo amante de la musica!!

4 out of 5 stars Conniff Magic.......2006-08-14

This is a trip down memory lane with the very smooth Conniff magic at its best. Quality is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars i wore out the vinyl edition.......2005-08-12

there are some conniff recordings that fans come back to again and again. this 1960 effort is one of those that i've revisited many, many times over its 45 years.

"say it with music" was somewhat of a departure for ray in that he introduced his latin-flamenco guitar device with resounding success. these renditions prove conniff's mettle as a skillful and innovative arranger. the sound is big band, the production values are impeccable, and the rhythms are infectious. one of conniff's superior productions.

sidemen for this album include billy butterfield (his treatment of "summertime" is incredibly beautiful) and doc severinsen on trumpet.

to think that ray conniff's first full-fledged recording ('s wonderful) was a mere 3 years earlier than this particular album....what a tremendous evolution in the conniff sound in such a short period.

"say it with music" is consummate conniff!

5 out of 5 stars It's Ray Conniff with a Latin flair!.......2003-10-12

If you enjoy the melodies of George Gershwin and Irving Berlin done with a Latin beat then this is the Ray Conniff C.D. I personally recommend. The orchestra and voices blend together for an uptempo 12 tune set. "Night and Day" and "Deep Purple" are my favoites from Mr. Conniff. In later years, Conniff was a big star in Latin America and this is how his music was introduced to that part of the world. Hope you enjoy this C.D.!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!.......2003-05-03

This album offers some really great songs with some of the best dance band arrangements I've ever heard. Conniff melds a lively latin tinged band with wordless voices singing harmony with trumpets and trombones. This isn't truly swing, and it's not the easy listening music that the Conniff sound later degenerated into, but it's a nifty fusion of the two, with emphasis on the swing. I can't recommend this highly enough.

3 out of 5 stars Toca International?.......2007-07-18

Tony Touch is one of the Djs that travels the most. We are talking about a DJ that travels a couple of times each month to Brazil to Play.
He has even been to Norway with Soni. Every body knows the saying if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere. We have turned it around and mean if you can make it in tiny Norway with the worlds most strange and cold population, than you can make it anywhere.

So when Tony Touch releases the follow up to The ReggaeTony Album than we have quiet big expectations.

The problem is how Europeans and Americans look at the word International. Tito and Now Tony have booth-released albums with the word International on the cover.

But what does it mean? When you have been traveling to many countries that makes you international?

We have been saying it for years, when I see an album with Arabian, Turkish, Albanian etc artists then we can talk international. We still belive the only album who can call it self international is "Matadores" it contains artists from Panama, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

Ok we totally have lost track right now. The Album is good and if you are a fan its even better. But I miss the international part here...

5 out of 5 stars Back to Laura's roots.......2006-11-06

This album is a collection of Laura's favourite songs from her childhood, when she was growing up in Uruguay. Laura's voice is ideal for this kind of material. You can really hear the songs mean a lot to her personally. She sings them with passion, as if it was the first time they were ever heard. Released in 2000, it was quite a departure for her, since it was the first time the songs weren't fully orchestrated like on her previous albums.
Some of the songs are almost acoustic, for example "Besame mucho" is only a guitar and Laura's voice, "La puerta" only a piano and Laura's voice. Laura's velvety voice takes centre stage here and it only adds to the intimate atmosphere of the recordings. Featured are rumba's, cha-cha-cha's, salsa's which makes it the perfect album to enjoy in the summer when it's 30 degrees outside (or the rest of the year, for that matter).
Furthermore, I can highly recommend the japanese 'XRCD2' version of the album. Apart from having 3 bonus tracks (3 english versions of songs from the album) this version also has advanced CD technology, namely the highest quality transfer from mastertape to compact disc, which makes for enhanced sound. And you don't need specific equipment to play it.

5 out of 5 stars THE LATIN TOUCH OF SEXY FASCINATION!!!!!.......2004-11-22

Laura sings fascinatingly in Spanish and English. No doubt, she has an absolute ability to captiviate her audiences. It is easy to imagine her singing at ease in a 70s cocktail lounge or even a resplendent ballroom with chandeliers in a hot and humind Latin America city. Laura's Latin Touch evokes different eras without deviating much. She caresses her words with her unique soft and sultry voice. The romantic melodies "La Puerta", "La Mentira", "Noche de Ronda" and "Abrazame"-you just can't resist. The salsa and cha cha numbers "Dimelo", "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas," "Como Fue" and "Solamente Una Vez" are very energizing.I guarantee you will sing along with Laura when it comes to Dimelo and Quizas, Quizas, Quizas, it could only be her. The world Laura creates is the world of silver propellar planes. Sit back, pour yourself a Martini and enjoy the exquisite and fascinating voice of Laura. Thanks Laura for perfect my world in colour.

4 out of 5 stars One of my favorites.......2003-05-26

The first time I heard of Mo Horizon's was when I heard the track "Foto Viva" on Thievery Corporation's compilation "Eighteenth Street Lounge Jet Society". It was dark, seductive and had a sort of groove that you could just totally unwind to while sipping a drink with a beautiful lady. After hearing it, I was curious about the band, checked out a few of their cuts while picking up different compilations and finally went for their feature release.

This is a very good album. It's a bit of jazz, great beats and for that special flair, you add Brazilian vibes into the mix to get "Come Touch the Sun". Most of the tracks on this CD are pretty smooth and neat - you have to have this for the full version of "Fly Away", and of course you'll recognize "Prince Charles Latest Affair" if you're a Brazilectro fan. And if you've seen a recent Kia (automobile) commercial, you'll recognize the familiar background mix from "Yes Baby Yes".

I highly recommend this album. It's a great addition to my collection and while it does have it's flaws (some tracks just don't do it for me - and I don't like the end of Foto Viva with the alarm clock) it more than makes up for it in general quality. Likewise, if you're a fan of this definitely look into ESL Jet Society as mentioned before, look at "More Psycodelico" by Reminiscence Quartet, and they do have another album. But IMO, the second album isn't as strong as this one is. Finally - their label is Stereo Deluxe - who showcases them on their compilation series titled "Basic Instinct".

    5 out of 5 stars Weightless.......2003-02-27

I have just finished the 5th song on the CD. By now my body is weightless and Im floating around my small universe, Incense flowing through my hair. One hand straight out and one bent, keeping time to the downbeats and my eyes are closed..and I'm seeing the future of this life...straight out in front of me. I am no longer "ego".

Buy this CD. This surpasses even Baby Mammoth. And thats a mouthfull.

This CD kicks. Buy it. Buy it today. Buy it NOW. Of 30 or so lounge CD's I have, this takes me out of my chair effortlessly. This makes me ...something...I never thought was there. This is the sound of the world turning.

5 out of 5 stars This music always puts me in a good mood........2002-07-19

This was recommended to me because of some Theivery Corporation CD's I bought a while back and I can honestly say I like this album as much as any of my TC records.

Come Touch the Sun provides the perfect variety of jazz sounds. A great CD for driving or just chilling around the house. I especially like 'foto viva' talk about smooth! Wow! Would highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Fresh, jazzy, full of infectious rhythm and shimmering beats.......2001-01-26

"For your pleasure, I created...a dream."

That's how the last track (Flying Away) begins, in a jazzy-cool, restrained voice that cannot hide the Portuguese embers smoldering underneath. Close your eyes, and picture yourself as James Bond flying to Brazil at midnight, with this voice whispering in your ear. I could swear I heard this song before on some 60s Brazilian jazz album...but, like most of the other songs, it was written by the two German masterminds behind Mo' Horizons. Talk about breaking a stereotype: you would never guess that these guys weren't born in Cuba and raised in Rio.

Touch the Sun was not at all what I expected...every surprise was a good one. DJs Ralf Droesmeyer and Foh Wetzler stir electronic beats that sound engineered by BMW, into a melange of brassy funk, South American and African rhythms, latin and acid jazz, bossa nova bongos, stunning and sultry vocals, breathy flutes, jungley dub, and more. Then they somehow slip it all into a downbeat wrapper that is as sleek, smooth, energizing, and exotic as the dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy.

For your pleasure, Mo' Horizons has created...a dream.

    5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2000-06-21

This is a great album. It was listed in my record store under Trip-hop. I think it speaks for itself. They have a great sounds and the album flows really well. I would highly recommend it for a dance party or just chillin.

3 out of 5 stars Latin roots of the DGQ.......2004-12-05

Since I've recently given 3 stars to a few discs, I think maybe I should explain my method. I don't want it to seem like I am in a bad mood and dumping on everything. I'm not.

Once I decide to review something, 3 stars is where I start. It's my base score. Then I just add or subtract stars as needed. Although I am also judging things against other things from that "genre" or artist, so 3 itself can be good or kinda blah. The stars are the toughest part of most reviews for me. I think what I write gives a better feel of my thoughts than do the number of stars I pick.

Okay onto the music. I give this disc 3 stars because it's perfectly pleasant, but it doesn't blow me away or reduce me to tears of joy or sadness. This is one of those nice little recordings I can pop in for background music when my grandparents are here, or when I just want to relax and not necessarily hang on every note. If that is what you are in the market for right now, I dare say this would be a perfect cd for your needs. Having said that, there are 2 tracks here that I do find quite engaging. I perk up for tracks 7 and 10.

What you have here are a few solo guitar tracks by Enrique, but usually it's Enrique in duos or trios, with everyone from Walter Rios (bandoneon), Nicolas Brizuela (guitar), Carlos Crespo (quena and zamponia), to David Grisman Quintet bandmates David Grisman and Matt Eakle.

My main reason for 3 stars here is because, while I like this disc, I don't like it as much as the other Coria disc I have, Guitar Artistry of Enrique Coria: Solos from South America. Plus, I know enough about latin musics to know that I don't know very much yet. As much as I like Solos from South America, I don't have very many latin guitar discs at all. I just know there are some out there that are better than that disc, by people I've never even heard of yet.

If you're really a fan of the latin side of the Enrique-era DGQ (1994 to the present), you'll find this disc to be a pleasant look into where Enrique is coming from, but if you're really deep into latin musics, I am assuming you already own better overall discs than this one. I mean this as no knock on Enrique though. The DGQ (for me) was near death in the early '90s. Enrique joining them in '94 was exactly what they needed. He was instrumental in turning them back into a fantastic band.

      4 out of 5 stars Thrown For A Loop.......2003-06-24

Heard this CD before I found out about the Joseph Diamond. He brings a totally different style to smooth jazz. This guy has a latin flavor to his keyboards that is hard to explain. I like it a lot and have already purchased his newest CD. I rate this CD very highly because it jumps off the beaten path and the adventure begins from there. Many customers like to stay on the safe side and won't take chances. I am different. You will not have to take a chance on this CD. I have done that for you. I recommend this CD

5 out of 5 stars A Favorite CD I come back to again and again.......2002-06-15

Take the sophisticated feel of New York Jazz, blend it with some hot latin grooves and you begin to understand the distinctive sounds created by Joesph Diamond.

How can a guy who grew up in Liberty, New York have so much salsa in his blood?

From the first track you will hear Latin Jazz Piano as it should be done. This CD quickly became a favorite and has stayed at the top of my personal music chart for a number of months.

Drummer Vince Cherico keeps the latin jazz feel moving forward. Leo Traversa on bass adds a solid foundation to the mix. A host of other talented artists contribute to achieve a sound that you don't just hear, you feel.

At the heart of it all is Joseph Diamond creating a perfect blend of rhythm, groove and melody that you'll find yourself humming later in the day.

I challenge you to get into your car, turn on "Not Your Typical New Yorker", and not start feeling better about life in just a few minutes.

5 out of 5 stars You had better be careful with this one!.......2001-07-26

This is a MUST-GET C.D. I have never had the pleasure of listening to a more subtle sounding album than when I first heard this one. If you are having a rough day, I suggest that you pop this baby in, hit the highway, and let it take you on a journey to a world of music appreciation!!

      5 out of 5 stars UNBELIVABLE RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2000-10-04

Joseph Diamond is in a word FANTASTIC! His tunes are gorgeous, his playing is fiery and the record is so well produced it's just beautiful!! The music is complex but he makes it an effortless listen. This is THE Latin Jazz record. Period. He is so serious it's ridiculous. From first cut to last boyfriend is making BIG TIME MUSIC. If you are a fan of Latin Jazz and killer playing look no further.

2 out of 5 stars Tony 'not in' Touch.......2005-09-06

The Reggaephony Album sounds old and doesn't even include today's great reggaeton artists. The cd isn't all bad but it will mislead people to think this is what qualify's as today's reggaeton. Let me say that I'm a big fan of Tony Touch but I paid full price for this New York style of reggeaton...which sucks. Reggeaton is from Puerto Rico and Tony Touch should go there for artists. Dude, you didn't get capicu you got stuck with the double zero!

4 out of 5 stars Better than most.......2005-08-11

I have to say I was impressed with how good this album is, I didn't think at first that it would be a 3 star cd, but it does have some great tracks. "Hey DJ" as about a catchy song as you can get, once again Nina Sky does what they did to NORE's hit song "Oye Mi Canto" turned a great song, into a great dance song. I got a feelin' Hey DJ will get a lot of play on Latin night at the clubs. the only drawback to me is that artists whose first language is english should stick to english verses, if you gonna rap in spanish make sure you don't have an accent!

        3 out of 5 stars is aight........2005-07-12

Nothing wrong with the beats, just not mainstream reggaeton. I like the fact that it's got a real chill vibe to it. For the mainstream there is the track "Play that song"ft nina sky, I can dance to that so I dig it. "Tranquila" soothes me. Aside from that the rest is for old school reggaeton fans. I personally found it to be "Aight" Sample before you buy.

2 out of 5 stars very poor reggaeton.......2005-07-07

This is the worst reggaeton album I heard in years. The beats sounds old, is like beats of the beginning of the reggaeton music, Tony is good hip hop producer but reggaeton, simply he doesnt know how to do it.
