Customer Reviews:
Amazingly well done recording.......2004-04-27
I would agree with the previous reviewers' comments about the voices but despite the choirs' extremely slight deficiency, this recording is a rare gem. Durante's vocal works are of the highest caliber, surpassed ONLY by Mozart's requiem in my opinion. The songs presented in this album are recorded extremely well and the beauty of the music really shines through. If you are looking for relaxing music, this is an album to get. If you are looking for a sample of some of the greatest vocal works ever written, definitely purchase this album. The other album to consider is one by DHM by Thomas Hengelbrock. These two albums make up the pride and joy of my vocal collection. I also agree with the previous reviewers' opinion. More classical music lovers should definitely discover Durante. Once you do, there is no going back.
Durante Choir Review.......2001-08-19
This album represnts a small sampling of the great Baroque Neopolitan composer, Francesco Durante. Hopefully this choir will continue to present Durantes compositions.Although, the choir, occasionally needs to work on blending of individual voices, the choir and period instrument ensemble presents an authentic baroque performance. This is a delightful recording to own. Durante needs to discovered by more classic lovers.
