2 out of 5 stars HooHah!.......2005-09-14

Take it for what it is worth. Written at the height of the ninja/pow/soldier of fortune craze it was probably heady brew at the time. The material currently available in this genre are much more sophisticated now. The sexual escapades are wooden and flat at best. There is no sense of gratification, just some sort of odd obligation. Almost no action sequences to speak of except at the beginning of the book. "his hands would have had to be registered as lethal weapons." Please, this is so blatantly dating itself. The author came recommended as very entertaining in this genre so I will read another one.

5 out of 5 stars Good book.......2004-12-13

I thought it was a great book and William does another superb job of drawing in the reader for a different type of story.

Mr. Johnstone does a super job in describing and story telling. And leaves some to the imanigation of the reader. He had an excellent grasp of military jargon.

In the end Terry K. wasn't invicible contrary to belief. I think most readers were disappointed at the end but none can say that is wasn't an exciting read. As they obviously finished it. :-)

2 out of 5 stars This is a sad case where sex replaces adventure........2004-06-05

This was to be a story of an extremely dangerous man trained by the military to be a super Green Beret. From the jacket you figured this would be one hell of an adventure in line with Barry Sadler, but alas no. The book is continually interupted by the sexual exploits of a young man that the women just can't keep their hands off of. Very few adventures are ever embarked on , but the book does allude to Terry going on missions and serving in various roles of combat earning every medal of valor, including the Medal of Honor. Never did read how he won it. He was the soul survivor of an attack in Vietnam, but never read how he got there.
This is a sad attempt by a talented writer to write a book of "love" and adventure and he misses the mark on both scores. If this had been the first book I read by this author I would have never bought another book by him and would hve missed out on several fine series. Where his agent was is a mystery but they both need to trash this book before it loses him anymore readers.

3 out of 5 stars I agree with not alot to do.......2003-07-18

This was the first Johnstone book I read and I can say one thing, the book was intriguing enough that I could not put it down. I read it within a 24 hour period. Though I agree that I could not really clearly identify a plot (if there was one). The constant wooing and losing of women got old. Great that he is a stud but enough of his problems with intimacy. Great premise for a story but not enough development to the full range of characters and plot. Again it was a good read but I hope he has better stuff.

4 out of 5 stars My Thoughts.... of the Dog Team.......2002-02-01

I liked this book... and being that I'm in the Marines I liked the fighting aspect of the story, being a red-blooded american man, I also liked some of the intimated writing... lol But the one thing that kept me reading this story, was that everyone that read it (including myself) in some shape or form could relate to it... if not in actual experience, then in some kind of desire to do what Terry did... but thats just my opinion... have a nice day....
