Disappointment.......2007-04-20
I bought the book because I enjoy historical fiction, because of my interest in Cathars and Templars, and on the basis of the high praise expressed by previous reviewers. Disappointment is a mild word for my feelings now.
The first chapters are moderately interesting and promising, but midway through the book it became a struggle to finish it. The author may have done "fastidious historical research," but the information about Cathars conferred to the readers would not fill a single page; one learns more and more quickly using a simple Google search. Once the story reaches the efforts to decode the manuscripts, only a fan of the most ridiculous metaphysical nonsense could accept the ideas expressed here without getting intellectually sick. In what purportedly was to be a thrilling finale, in the final confrontation between the antagonists, persons on both sides behaved as bumbling idiots. The book then fittingly ends with a collection of inanities, which force one to ask: Is this what all the fuss was about?
Exciting, Satisfying Sequel.......2006-06-24
I sat down to read what I thought would be just a few pages of The Cathar Legacy before going to bed and ended up reading it right through an entire weekend until I was finished. From the first page I could not put this book down. Nita Hughes has done a superb job of continuing the suspense and relationships she introduced readers to in Past Recall. As with her other work, Nita has a special gift for bringing her characters and setting to life, making me feel I was right smack in the middle of the action. The mix of high-tension storytelling combined with fascinating metaphysical and historical information is particularly impressive. Fans of Past Recall will not be disappointed, and new readers should definitely start with the first book to enjoy the full impact. Highly recommended.
Fastidious and Fun.......2006-05-22
Fastidious historical research is the underpinning for this fast-paced saga spanning time and time-travel, philosophy and prophecy. It is a rarity in a novel--both educational and simply fascinating fun. I wish I'd known a Cathar; I wish I'd seen Mary of Magdalene; I hope the Cathar treasure will enlighten our dark ages and I hope Nita Hughes will write a third book in this vein. ("Legacy" is the second, but you don't have to have read the first, "Past Re-Call", to enjoy it....however, after reading "Cathat Legacy", you'll want to.)
A wonderful adventure through France, history and a timely follow-up to "Past Recall" .......2006-05-15
Nita Hughes has followed up her first book, "Past Recall" with another thriller that takes the reader on a fictional journey through church history and an exciting ride through France. In the "Da Vinci Code" genre, "The Cathar Legacy" continues the story in "Past Recall" where Hughes brings the Cathars and their history to life in a wonderful novel.
Nita Hughes still leads the DaVinci entourage.......2006-05-14
Considerably before Dan Brown's DaVinci book, Nita Hughes had already delved into religious confrontations in the Middle Ages and came up with her excellent read, Past Recall. It was the tip of an iceberg which is now being chipped at by many other writers trying to float in the same waters. But Nita has dived deep into this ocean and come up with another exceptional yarn, a continuation of the first, that will keep you holding your breath until the last pages. It is not only historically fascinating, but the intricate plot is as absorbing as any mystery buff could ask for. If you want to lose a night or two of sleep, start reading this book.
Book Description
This fascinating book is a personal saga of awakening the divine potential within dreams. Eclipse of Fate is a passionate story of creating new realities by the power of faith. Poignant imagery of art and verse are included in this compilation of journals from a twelve year journey into past-life recall. Destiny echoed from the memories of the Cathars, the Knights Templar, and the Holy Graal as cancer disappeared from the authors body and soul. Love embraced the shadow as light returned after this Eclipse of Fate.

Amazing Grace.......2006-04-22
This book is amazing testimonial of life taking charge in the face of death. I highly recommend it to all dreamers and risk takers that trod the narrow path of faith.
Outstanding.......2006-01-18
I personally enjoyed the different story telling done in this book. The contrast of diary and first person expirience was very refreshing. The pictures helped a lot in being able to put story to visual. I would highly reccommend this book for anyone dealing with any form of cancer that need an alternative look at how to beat such an ailment. Thank you for bringing your thoughts to the forefront for the rest of the world to enjoy.
Eclipse of Fate.......2006-01-15
Amazing story of beating the odds against cancer by dream visualization and prayer. I am especially intrigued by the author's personal experiences in France concerning Montsegur and the Templars. Her first hand focus on the truth behind the Grail speaks about universal doorways into the psyche, and the possibility that metaphysical powers exist by faith in Jesus Christ. Obviously healing oneself from cancer certainly punctuates the scripture that by faith all things are possible! If you look closely into the line artwork and into the poetry you can glean ancient echoes from the hermetic traditions such as the Tarot iconography in the medieval courts. There is more to see if you have the desire and heart to peer deeply into this looking glass.
Eclipse of Fate.......2006-01-15
Inspirational and fantastic true story. Art is extraordinary addition.
An Amazing Journey of an Amazing Woman.......2006-01-14
I bought this book not really knowing what it was about. It came recommended from a friend and I am always up for reading a good metaphysical book.
This book is an amazing story that ended up inspiring me to search for my own "martyr" within. It shows that no matter what we may go through in life, we can all connect with our higher selfs and truly learn to have faith.

Past Recall of the Clan.......2006-10-27
There seems to be a theme lately with my interests in books zooming towards the Cathars and the era of the Knights Templar. Nita has captured the essence of the Cathars mystique with her own time travels of switching from present to past portals of experiences. I am ordering her second book to see if she does indeed walk between the veils of the imaginaire and speak their truth for us all. One would question if there is a global awakening occurring with such fascination in the obscure heretical Gnostics called the Cathars. Why I am saying this is another author, Barbara Burritt wrote her own personal saga of past-life recall from this same chapter of mystical power and agonizing persecution. If interested in this theme read her book, Eclipse of Fate...my healing journey through past-life recall.
May this awakening inspire others to spin their own webs from the mystic.
Enjoyable, enchanting, and ultimately enlightening.......2006-06-24
Past Recall shines a quantum light upon two eras and how they interlace -- which in itself makes for a solid, enjoyable exploration of history; the persecution of this unique sect of Christianity, and the later archaeological intrigue of investigating the lives of those who went through such persecution.
The storytelling is, much like the philosophy of the Cathars themselves, dualistic. It shuttles between these timelines with an elegant beauty. Yet in unearthing the legacy of the Cathars, it showcases the horror and hypocrisy of the Church's handling ("Thou Shall Not Kill, anyone?") of this heretical sect. Author Hughes demonstrates a contagious enthusiasm for the Cathars -- their lives, philosophy, secret meetings in shadow, and the timeless sorrow of a people hunted and destroyed by a tyrannical religious regime. Hughes has done the Cathars justice.
History brought to Life!.......2004-04-18
I loved this book. Nita Hughes created a stimulating romantic mystery that brings to life a very real place and people. Most of what is known of the Cathars comes from records of the Inquisition. These beautiful, peaceful people have, through the heart and words of Nita Hughes, been given back their dignity.
I want the sequel!!!
Past Recall--A Book to Remember.......2004-01-17
Reading Past Recall I was transported to another time and dimension that went far beyond the strong story line and sympathetic characters; in fact, I found myself so involved with the lives of thirteenth-century Clotilde de Mirepoix and her modern-day counterpart, Dana Palmer, I began to dream about them!
The contrast of the two women set against their respective time frames and patriarchal challenges--Dana trying to save a spiritual treasure from the greedy, suspect archaeologist, Benjamin Carter, while Clotilde is literally trying to save her life in a world gone mad--will provide plenty for group discussion. Whether the topic turns to history, spirituality, or the role of women in brutal times, Past Recall makes an excellent choice for a book club or discussion group. Many of the travel sequences are portrayed so realistically (and deliciously!) readers will feel they've actually stepped into the French countryside.
This is a marvelous work combining romance, travel, metaphysics, and yes--the meaning of life. For me Past Recall is one of those alchemical reads that left me a different person than when I first opened its pages. The title is apt, making me recall the characters and their lives with a deep sense of "what if?" and wondering if we really do hold the power to "change the world."
Past Recall: When Love and Wisdom Transcend Time.......2003-12-13
I absolutely loved this first novel by Nita Hughes. This enjoyable piece of historical fiction has it all: romance, mystery, spirituality. I found the story of the Cathar people to be a fascinating topic. I especially liked the seamless way Ms. Hughes takes the reader back and forth in time to 13th century and present day south of France.
