Book Description
Refusing to marry a man she does not love, Fayth Graham is forced to flee her ancestral home. Her freedom is short-lived when she is captured by her most reviled enemy -- Alex Maxwell, who would never forgive her for teasing him mercilessly and then betraying him to her family. Now, as they search for the mystical Bloodstone, she fears he will use her captivity to avenge his savaged pride. But their heated encounters leave them both shaken and Fayth soon suspects that the force that burns between them might, after all, be love....
Customer Reviews:
One of the Best Medieval Romances I've Read.......2002-10-30
The story begins with an ancient stone, The Bloodstone or the Clachan Fala. The Bloodstone holds much power and stirs greed in mortals. The Bloodstone can only be found when a Maxwell and a Graham marry. But Musgrave witches protect the stone from men. At the beginning of the book the author tells the reader about the Bloodstone and how the feud between the Graham's and Maxwell's began. All over a powerful stone.
Fayth Graham has felt lost and lonely since her father and Jack, her fiance, died. Her brother, Ridley, is forcing her to marry an old lecher she doesn't love just so he can gain land and power. Her fiance, Jack Graham, was killed by Alex Maxwell, also known as Red Alex. The day Jack died Fayth swore she'd avenge his death by killing Red Alex. He was the reason why she wasn't marrying the man she'd chosen, a simple, ordinary farmer. No land or title to his name. But none of that mattered to Fayth, she wanted Jack because she knew that he would let her keep the freedom she'd always known.
Red Alex remembered the feisty vixen who had disguised herself as a whore, to distract him when the Grahams came to raid his home. He remembered not only her passionate kiss that stirred a longing deep inside him, he remembered her betrayal. He would get his revenge. When he catches Fayth running away from Carlisle, her fiance, he finds his chance to get revenge. He would kidnap her; take her to his stolen tower, Gealach; and use her to make a bargain with Carlisle. Fayth for Gealach. (Alex is an outlaw who turned Gealach back into a great tower, but Carlisle wouldn't let him have it. And Alex is desperate to make the tower his legal home.) But on his way to Gealach Alex begins to admire Fayth's courage and comes to care for her more then he'd like to admit. Once they reach Gealach he can't help but see how much she lights up the tower. How much she lights up his life. When the time comes will he be able to give up the woman he loves more then anything for a tower that he knows would be lonely without her???
And Fayth, against her will, starts to feel something more tender then the hate she once had for him. It kills Fayth to feel so tenderly for Alex, knowing that he murdered hundreds of Graham's for no reason. Will she accept her feelings for Alex or will she live her life alone in hiding??? If only she knew of the secrets and betrayal floating around her.....
I know that isn't very much plot summary, but it's hard to say anything without giving the story away.
There aren't enough words to express how very much I loved this book. I've never read anthing like it before. The mystery surrounding the Bloodstone was thrilling and the romance was very sweet and believeable. I was a little confused at first because I haven't read the first book in the Bloodstone seies, but I plan to. And I can't wait until the thrid book comes out. So if you haven't read, Tempted by Your Touch, I'd advise reading that one before you pick this one up.
The author weaves an intricate web full of emotions, thoughts, motives, betrayls, and so much more. This is the most convincing, hate-to-love books that I've ever read. I could actually believe that Fayth was falling in love with him. In most romances that have the passionate hate turns to passionate love plot, aren't very convincing. Those kind of books make you wonder why these two pepole fell in love, but this book won't make you feel that way. You'll see the transition from hate-to-love. I've never seen so much dialouge betweet two main characters! Usually the two main characters, in romances, are too busy kissing to worry about communicating. Such a refreshing change. One I hope to see a lot more of in the future.
The romance between these two will make her heart ache. At one point I was convinced these two would never have a chance to be together. You'll finish this book with a smile in your heart and on your face. It'll make you believe that love is the most powerful thing on this earth.

The conclusion of a legacy.......2006-11-16
One of my favorite things about the Stones of Power novels is that where you start from is completely different (but somehow logical) than where you end. How does Gemmell get from a sickly prince lost in the woods to a legendary pistol fighter somewhere in the future? How do we travel from ancient Atlantis to Arizona?
But he does it. The conclusion to the Stones of Power series is one of the most powerful books in the series. It deals with time travel (in a non-traditional way) which usually gives me a headache... but Gemmell warps the idea of time travel to fit into the storyline... and fit into my pea brain!
There is a lot of religious activity in the book. It's interesting (and sort of painful) for me as a Christian to read the book. You see a Preacher trying to do good, but as is too often the case the foundation of good intentions turns into a river of blood. There's a bit of the crusades in this book, but scripture is used from the bible as a prop and a tool. He's not preaching at us, he's writing a realistic story and the characters are well intentioned, but wrong.
Bloodstone answers questions the previous books left unanswered all the while creating a new story. Technically, all of the Stones of Power books can stand on their own. But why mess with such perfection?
If you've never read Gemmell, go read Ghost King and follow the series all the way through. It was an amazing sci-fi/fantasy journey, highly recommended for fans of both genres.
A great ending to a bad series.......2004-09-16
This is the last in Gemmell's Stones of Power series; it's notable mostly because Gemmell has wrapped up a bad series with a good ending. The three earliest books are immature in their writing style and plotting, and, while the fourth is definitely better, Gemmell just seems to be finding his stride. Bloodstone pulls the frayed plot lines together and turns Jon Shannow into the archetype for all Gemmell's tormented heroes. The earlier books introduced a line of meddling immortals, posing from time to time as gods (Athena and Odin among others), and mythical figures including Merlin and Gilgamesh. The series ranges from Arthurian England to Atlantis (home, mysteriously, to the Biblical Noah) to Shannow's post-Apocalyptic Wild West. Time travel has allowed a paradoxical twist in which Shannow sends a 20th century missile back in time to initiate the cataclysm that destroyed Atlantis.
Bloodstone takes all these plot twists and manages to make them work. When Shannow sent the missile to Atlantis, he freed a fleet of 20th century planes from time stasis; they land, bringing a strange leader intent on rebuilding the earth to combat a mysterious evil. Who is the stanger? What is this evil only he knows about? With a parallel universe, an ur-villain, and a hero seeking redemption, what more could you ask from Gemmell? I don't think this book would make much sense by itself, unfortunately, and I can't recommend slogging through the whole series just for this, but if you can stand the earlier books, this one is rewarding in the solid, well written style I have found in Gemmell's other series.
Bloodstone.......2004-07-01
David Gemmell is one of those rare authors you find once every few years. Gratefully you read all of his work, and only wish that he was as prolific as he is talented.
In Jon Shannow, Gemmell has created not just an anti-hero, ala Clint Eastwood's "man with no name", but one whose inner conflicts mirror the daily struggles we all face...belief in an ultimate good despite the daily presence of human evil, how to respond to your own inner calling, even to dealing with those who claim to be God's servants and yet harm innocent people.
Bloodstone is a chronicle of the Jerusalem Man, Jon Shannow, in his final (I hope not) challenge to face the power of the Sipstrassi stones. These bloodstones pull the life force out of people for use by others, a literary parallel rather like the real victimization due to violent crime in America today.
Read all of Gemmell's work. I have yet to be disappointed, and by way of credentials, I do NOT like J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter series.
This isn't a book, it's fuel for my fireplace........2004-03-29
This book is terrible. A fun read, but terrible. It's like eighties action flicks involving Stallone, Ah-nold and Swayze. They are a lot of fun, but don't go looking for anything other than gun and explosions and a hot chick to drool at.
Gemmel borrows elements from the Western man-in-black tradtion (go read Shane instead), fantasy's creatures, and sci-fi's vision of parallel worlds with some religion thrown in as a bonus (read Heinlein's Job: Comedy Of Justice). Gemmel can plot - he just can't write. At least, not well. Shannow is a stiff, inflexible, two dimensional character - and the Deacon isn't any better. Flat out? Read this book because it's the last book on the shelf and you have burned the rest for fuel for the fire to heat your home. For any other reason, it's inexcusable.
Bloodstone.......2001-01-12
After 20 years, Jon Shannow, the legendary Jerusalem Man, returns for a deadly showdown with the Bloodstone. The vicious Jerusalem Riders, and the apostle Saul unwittingly help this monstrous beast that feeds on souls. Then Shannow finds out it was in fact him who????
I highly recommend this book. Gemmell has outdone himself in the world of twists and turns. Nobody throws you like Gemmell, so go and get this book.

Captured by Your Kiss.......2003-01-30
Jen Holling has written a wonderful story of love and intrigue, full of excitement. I found it hard to put down. She brought 16th century Scotland to life. The feud between the Graham's and Maxwell's was well plotted. I only wish there was a fourth book in the Brides of the Bloodstone Trilogy. I highly recommend this book.
WORTH THE WAIT!.......2003-01-30
After enjoying the first two books, TEMPTED BY YOUR TOUCH and TAMED BY YOUR DESIRE,in the BRIDES OF THE BLOODSTONE trilogy, I was pleasantly surprised that Holling's books just keep getting better! As I came to know and love the characters I dreaded the book coming to an end. The passion portrayed between Mona and Patrick kept me turning pages late into the night. I was on edge throughout the entire book waiting to see what evil Ridley would dish out next. I was thrilled with the conclusion, all of the details from the previoius novels were tied up beautifully. Holling writes the fantasy that romance readers are looking for; mystical and romantic, with evil in hot pursuit of the hero and heroines happiness.
I look forward to more historical fantasy from this most talented author!
Read the books in order -too confusing otherwise........2003-01-24
This is an ok book. I suspect it would have been more enjoyable and understandable if I had read the other two first. The romance between Patrick and Mona was nicely done. BUT, my biggest problem with the book is that it is disjointed. Example - Ridley (Mona's evil stepson) is fine looking (though crazy)and then a few pages later, one side of his face is all melted (Huh? WHEN did THAT happen?). There is no explanation until later. Face is fine, then it is burned. There are several other instances of this and I found this to be very frustrating. Everything makes sence by the end of the book and all loose ends are neatly tied. I will not be buying the first two books in the series though. I might get them from the Library, but I would not spend the money on buying them.
exciting wrap up to delightful tales.......2003-01-18
In 1542, as war threatens Scotland, the Bloodstone Keeper Mona Graham decides to retrieve the gem in an attempt to gain peace. She needs a protector on her quest to keep her safe from her son-in-law Ridley, who desires her almost as much as he covets the Bloodstone. Unlike his deceased father who forced Mona to marry him to gain possession of the magical artifact, Ridley plans simply to take the stone from his mother-in-law. Mona chooses Ridley's prisoner Patrick Maxwell to guide her.
Mona frees Patrick and he reluctantly agrees to escort her even while Ridley's men pursue them. As Mona and Patrick fall in love, they find the Bloodstone, but Ridley takes it from them. He uses the stone to see into the future to insure his side slaughters his opponent in the upcoming war between England and Scotland. Only Mona has the remote chance of stopping his ascendancy, but she needs the extended family of her beloved to remotely hope to win.
The conclusion of the Brides of Bloodstone trilogy, CAPTURED BY YOUR KISS, is an exciting wrap up to delightful tales. This novel ties up all the threads of the previous novels (see TEMPTED BY YOUR TOUCH and TAMED BY YOUR DESIRE) yet also can stand-alone. The story line contains fantasy elements such as a quest and magical powers inside a strong Scottish historical romance that will elate readers of the two genres. Though acceptance of how fast Ridley and his thugs seem to travel is needed, Jen Holling provides a terrific triad that requires more romantic fantasy from this awesome author.

Customer Reviews:
A Nice Story and First In A Series!!!.......2005-08-17
Ms. Holling has created a very nice read with the first of her "Brides of the Bloodstone" series. With a mystery surrounding a mythical stone two families are bound to the other looking for a way to hold the stone.
Robert Maxwell is looking for peace for his family and clan. This bold Scottish leader decides that the easiest way to do this is to marry Caroline Graham. Marrying this lass will solve two problems. One, it will insure peace between the feuding families, and two, hopefully Carolines' brother will honor the agreement by freeing his brother that is being held hostage. Robert wants this thing to work so he is willing to be patient with his new bride, but will he be able to thaw the ice that seems to surround her on all sides?
Caroline Graham wants to be a nun. A bride of Christ, not a bride of Robert Maxwell. She knows though that her wishes are the least to be considered. Men, after all think of them only as pawns in their quest for peace. Despite Caroline's stubborn nature, she can't help but wonder if her husband is truly sincere when it comes to her. Can he really find her pretty, and desirable? Only time will tell but can she trust her heart to such a man? Is it her heart he wants to hold, or the mythical stone?
This was a nice well written read. Robert and Caroline were interesting characters although Caroline after a time became a bit too much. Thankfully she had a hero with patience which balanced out the read. Ms. Holling is a talented author and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

A beautiful Scottish love story.......2002-10-04
Courtesy of The Best Reviews
Robert Maxwell, Laird of Clan Maxwell, longs for peace and the end to a bloody feud with the English Grahams. In order to achieve this, he decides to wed the oldest sister of the Graham family head. Robert enters into this agreement, much to the dismay of his entire clan, swearing to do whatever is necessary to make the alliance a happy one.
Caroline Graham is furious with her brother for signing her life away to the hated Maxwells. She has been convinced all her life no man would ever want her, the ugly sister, and she had planned to give herself to the Church as a nun. So she enters into this marriage determined to keep her icy demeanor (and her maidenhead) intact and show Robert just how unsuitable she was for a wife.
Robert is pleased when he meets Caroline and sets a course of seduction to convince her she is neither the ugly duckling she believes herself to be, nor the nun she desires to be. Caroline's walls are gradually beaten down by a very determined Robert, and she finds herself falling for him, all the while convinced he couldn't possibly love her.
An ancient legend stands in their way, however. There is a magical stone, taken from the scabbard of the legendary Excalibur, said to protect the possessor from harm. This stone is the basis for the nasty feud, and the cause of a deadly massacre 60 years previous. Problems escalate again upon the marriage of Robert and Caroline, as her greedy brother wants the stone for his own.
Can Caroline and Robert overcome their fears and plaguing doubts? Will their binding relationship put an end to the feud forever as legend proclaims?
Ms. Holling has woven an intricate tale of passion, greed, and vengeance. This book runs the gamut of emotions and desire. The characters are engaging, though it took this reviewer a while to warm up to Caroline. The plot is seamless and the legend of Excalibur is worked in effortlessly. The story is slow going for the first few chapters, but once it picks up, the reader will not be disappointed.
One will be eagerly waiting to see how the rest of the story pans out in successive books. This is a delightful read and comes highly recommended.

Adventuring on an epic scale!.......2005-11-19
H2: The Mines of Bloodstone is an AD&D (1st edition) adventure module for five to seven characters of level sixteen to eighteen. That's right, this is a wide-ranging adventure for high-level characters. Following up on the module H1: Bloodstone Pass, the characters now find that the town of Bloodstone is under attack once again. The source of Bloodstone's danger is the abandoned mines just outside of town. What lies within those mines? And, is it beyond what the characters can handle?
Now, this module is different than most, in that parts of the story require the use of the BATTLESYSTEM rules that allow unit based warfare. However, I must say a clever Dungeon Master will be able to handle the warfare side himself, and guide the characters along using the standard AD&D rules.
As for the rest of the module, well I must say that this is a really great module with lots of action and grand adventure - adventuring on an epic scale! There's lots of danger here, and lots of really high-level monsters. In general, if you have wanted an AD&D adventure that reminds you of the epics of J.R.R. Tolkien and other fantasy authors, then this is the module for you!
Notorious dungeon crawl vs. the wrath of Orcus.......2000-05-02
The incomparable Bloodstone saga continues as the intrepid lords (PCs levels 16-18) delve into the most dangerous dungeon of all time! Your unbelieving players (who will probably never forgive you) will face demons, iron golems, red dragons, the Tarrasque, and yes, Orcus, the Prince of the Dead himself; hopefully, they're half as good as they claim to be, or this adventure will usher in an exciting new campaign for their 1st-level replacements. The one and only epic - not deep, but unforgettable!
Challenging! Against incredible odds, exciting, fullfilling.......1997-10-23
The 2nd of 4 adventures set in the Forgotten Realms world. Brave heroes fought outside influences to protect the Bloodstone lands, what was thought just another angry band of monsters leads them to the abandoned bloodstone mines, once mined for its rich bloodstone minerals. It appears theres more than originally meets the eye as their investigations bring them ever closer to the unceasing force behind it all.

Book Description
An attack at a trade show.
A ransacked hotel room.
An ominous message on her answering machine.
The threats come out of nowhere.
And they cannot be ignored.
Tyler St. Claire has long tried to disregard her family's "gift" of second sight, but when she learns of her older brother David's mysterious abduction, she begins to understand that she can no longer afford to deny her legacy. Instinctively she knows that there is a connection between her family's uncanny abilities and David's disappearance.
Grudgingly accepting the help of Evan Bartlock, an off-duty cop, Tyler uncovers information on a shadowy organization that once employed David. Now Tyler must trust her family, her friends and, most of all, herself to unlock a dark web of conspiracy and murder -- and confront an enemy who "sees" as well as she does.
Customer Reviews:
Not Hunter's Best.......2007-02-28
I love Gwen Hunter, but this book had too much melodrama and too much silly dialogue, and the heroine's "gift" just didn't ring true to me. I skipped to the end just to see how she resolved the mystery, but the book wasn't compelling enough to read cover to cover after I'd struggled through the first third. If you love a good thriller, try _Shadow Valley_, or any of the Dr. Rhea Lynch series, also by Gwen Hunter. They're all top notch.
This one was a real headache...........2007-02-15
While this book has some promising aspects it becomes a tedious grind of events as seen and felt by the very self absorbed heroine Tyler St Claire. Using her gift of second sight causes her headaches "Pain like a lance of forge hot steel pierced my forehead over my left eye". The book is littered withwhat are best described as pain and angst paragraphs. Her extreme reaction page to touching Adam Wiccam "Pain exploded in my head, a ricochet of agony - on and on ending with "the pain was a caustic, cutting agony boring through my brain" What will she do when she receives her bothers finger in the box - you may well ask. She is supported in her endeavors by characters far more interesting. I would rewrite this and add more of her brothers perspective and edit out 90% of Tyler's self dialogues.
A Master at Her Craft.......2006-11-08
I am continually amazed at the flawlessness of Ms. Hunter's prose. She is both a master technician and a poet, and one of the best plotters around. I could read her books every day. Also, I live in her region of the country and am very impressed with her sense of place. I'd give her four thumbs up if I had that many; she'll have to settle for five stars.
This one had major problems! .......2006-09-15
1. These people were all "St. Claire's" by blood:
Tyler
Tyler's brother Davie
Both of Tyler and Davie's parents
Their Aunt Matilda and her husband
Davie and his wife
Davie's daughter
Evan, the cop
Maybe it's just me but it all sounds on the incestuous side.
2. Tyler's made-up swear words/descriptive phrases were cute, at first, then they were just plain annoying.
"Spit and decay", a "dipsomaniac, douroucouli on Drambuie" which I think was a drunken monkey.
3. The supposed "Roman Trio" was some sort of mafia running illegal gambling in Western NC. Western NC is home to a very large Cherokee Indian reservation, with a very successful, growing legal gambling industry. Illegal gambling would do very poorly in that area.
4. The characters were all cardboard and one dimensional.
5. There was zero chemistry/romance between Tyler and Evan.
Now that I think about it a three is somewhat generous but it's not quite bad enough for a two. Wish we could give ½ stars!
Not up to standard.......2006-08-26
Can't believe the author of the excellent Dr. Rhea novels wrote this! Unlikely premise (paranormal abilities), not particularly likeable or believable charcters, too much gratuitous violence....very disappointed.

A positively gripping read.......2006-09-05
When a strange bloodstone ring is accidentally unearthed from where it has lain for countless centuries, it marks the reawakening of an evil of elder Earth. And when that ring falls into the hands of the mystic warrior Kane, it marks a dark day for all of mankind. Kane, with his vast experience, is playing a game, a game that only he sees the end of, and even he might just have miscalculated.
Karl Edward Wagner (1945-94) was an American author of some of the finest horror and fantasy literature to have been written, and one of his most interesting creations was the man Kane, an undying warrior and scholar. Overall, I found this book to be a positively gripping read. I found the setting to be quite interesting, and the characters to be absolutely fascinating. If you like such fantasy literature as Robert E. Howard's Conan, then you will love this book. I know I did. I highly recommend this book.

The best thing about this book is that throughout the story you're never really sure which side Kane is playing for, and the fact that he's a barbarian and smarter than everyone else in the book at the same time makes him all the more interesting.
Worth a read if you can find a copy.......2002-08-15
1) I label this is dark fantasy. The main character is not a good guy and thus does things that most "protaganists" won't do.
2) I got hooked on Kane from the Wagner book Dark Crusade. Kane as a character does carry the entire story because he is so good at everything...and believably so.
3) I like how this book reveals a little about Kane whereas Dark Crusade didn't say much of anything. Kane's mystery still stands even after this read making you want more in order to truely understand who he is and where he comes from.
Fun read. Wagner is great with action scenes and creates a wonderfully likeable "bad guy" type character here.
Love him and hate him, Kane is a great hero.......2000-05-08
Karl Edward Wagner's character Kane is a great blending of Moorcock's tragic hero Elric, with his sorcerous powers, and Robert E. Howard's Conan, with his enormous physical strenght and skilled swordsmanship... Kane is a great hero, with some of the best sci-fi stories I've ever read- and I've read just about all of 'em... Give Kane a try- especially Bloodstone, Night Winds and Death Angel's Shadow...
Wagner redeems the generally sorry swords and sorcery genre.......2000-01-20
I don't like swords & sorcery, but I read the Kane stories over and over again. Why? Imagine what Conan would be like if he had brains, class, and a believable reason for being so tough. These are rip-roaring adventure stories that still manage to make you think. And Kane is one of the most colorful and fascinating characters you'll ever read about. Piecing together his history from a hint in one story and a clue in another novel is an adventure in itself. And Wagner is a writer of such gifts that he can make you like and empathize with a character who is as much villain as hero. It's a shame these books are not easy to find, but trust me, they're worth the effort.

One of The better Marvel compilations........2002-07-31
Captain America has been drawn into the chase for all 6 segments of an object of reputed occult powers, The Bloodstone. Also on the trail in Baron Helmut Zemo along with his mercenaries Batroc, Machete and Zaran. So alongside his former foe, Diamondback, Captain America must travel the world in this deadly race for the Bloodstone. Little do the rivals know, that there is also a third party with an interest in the stone.
This trade paperback collects issues #357 - #364 of Captain America which involves a very fast paced, Indiana Jones type action/adventure, sees a kindling romance between Cap and his former foe, Diamondback, plus introduces us to a new extremely dangerous foe, Crossbones.
The artwork from Kieron Dwyer is fantastic, storytelling from Mark Gruenwald in superb, his run on Captain America being one of the best. One of the better Marvel collections out there. RECOMMENDED!!!!
A great read from Captain America's best writer!.......2002-01-18
Mark Gruenwald and his team wrote Captain America better any others to work on Cap before or since, and The Bloodstone Hunt is a perfect example of this. It's a Indiana Jones-like 6 issue story arc which also features Cap's best girlfriend ever- Diamondback, and also Baron Zemo, Crossbones, and Batroc! I almost wish that I didnt have the comics so I could read this for the first time, just great stuff. And, this story arc was just one of many great ones from Gruenwald and company, there was also the Scourge arc, the Streets of Poison arc, the "New Captain America John Walker" arc, "The Death of Cap", the Serpent Society issues, among many others. Just excellent, excellent reading.
Cap's most entertaining adventure to date........2000-05-03
It's got everything you could possibly want - exotic locations, dastardly villains, damsels in distress, a race against time for a weapon of immense power, and everyone's favorite Blue Boyscout -- Captain America! All I can describe it as is Captain America meets Indiana Jones. It's my most favorite Cap run of all time, and the love interest, Diamondback, is the best to date. Please come back to the title Mr. Gruenwald! And bring Kieron with you...

Book Description
An action-packed allegory that captures our growth from non-believers to mature Christians.
Through the mysterious Bloodstone, which symbolizes God’s great love for mankind, three children are whisked into strange and wondrous worlds. Soon they are visiting places like the Sea of Mirrors where they are nearly crushed by the weight of their sins, or the Menagerie whose prisoners are doomed to live in pure selfishness, or Biiq where one doubting child is allowed to experience the same deep and unfathomable love that Jesus Christ has for us.
With the help of intriguing characters like Aristophenix—the world’s worst poet, Listro Q—a tall, purple dude with dyslectic speech, and Weaver —who weaves God’s plans into each of our Life Tapestries, the children learn the powers and secrets of living as citizens in the Kingdom of God.

Awesome!.......2006-11-04
This book reminded me, of stories my mom would uses to describe God's love and endurance!
Strongly recommended for children!
Bloodstone Chronicles.......2006-01-13
The Bloodstone Chronicle, by Bill Myers, is a journey taken into a new dimension by three kids. Denise, Nathan, and Joshua, take an exciting trip into a new land, Fayrah. They meet things they never would have thought existed.
The Bloodstone Chronicle is a book based on the Bible. The kids meet three friends in Fayrah, Aristophenix, the world's worst poet, Lister Q, A purple dude with dyslexic speech, and Samson, part dragonfly part ladybug. Together these six friends take a wild adventure.
I thought the book was really good. I would recommend the book for both guys and girls over the age of 8. Though the book is a little long, the comprehension level is not hard. Every page has so much action on it. I definitely recommend this book.
Read aloud and think deep!.......2003-08-12
This book is a moving one so be ready to think! I love finding books that I can read to my kids and have a deeper meaning. THis book does that and even more.
When you read this you feel like you are seeing a movie flash in front of your imagination. Bill Myers does a great job of just giving us enough adjectuves to form our own images and make it our own.
The message is God and his love but done in a way that makes your heart open to see and understand the complicated mind set of our Savior. The author takes the complex thoughts and turns them into a modern day parable full of characters we can all somehow relate to.
Want a rich book that the whole fmaily can get something from? Want a read a-loud that will keep you turning pages as fast as you can say the words on it?
Want a bedtime story that will have oyur kids thinking deeper thoughts?
Then I highly recommend The Bloodstone Chronicles to you!
