4 out of 5 stars Fast-Paced Action and Unexpected Twists Make This a Great "Run".......2007-05-03

David Elliott is a very ordinary guy who's about to have a very extraordinary day. A highly successful business executive, David has earned a corner office complete with private bathroom and shower in a high rise at his New York City investment firm, Senterex. Dave's first inkling that this is going to be a very bad day is an early morning visit from his boss and friend, Bernie Levy. Bernie strolls into Dave's office with a loaded gun in hand and tries to kill him. Luckily, Dave is able to overpower Bernie. But when Dave tries to seek help from his friend and lawyer, Harry Halliwell on another floor of the building, he is stunned when Harry tries to attack him. Soon Dave discovers that he is being hunted by a sophisticated team of assassins and every person in his life: his wife, his son, his friends are helping the bad guys. A 47-year-old ordinary businessman is suddenly the target of mercenaries. But once long ago, Dave was not an ordinary guy. As a soldier in Vietnam, he was trained to fight, to improvise and to survive. And now Dave is going to use those skills to beat the assassins and figure out why everyone wants him dead. Garber has written a terrific thriller that unfolds at a breakneck speed with plausible, yet exciting action. Elliott is a sympathetic hero; he's no Superman; he's just a guy with a special past caught up in bewildering circumstances. Garber manages to deliver many surprises. It is rare to find a thriller where you cannot predict how it will end.

5 out of 5 stars Exciting and worthwhile.......2006-03-01

Ingeniously plotted though suspension of disbelief required. Somehow, a story about escaping killers in a skyscraper has become more poignant since 9/11, which occurred long after this book came out.

4 out of 5 stars Kept me up all night reading it........2006-02-23

This a very simple fast read, lots of action to keep it flowing. Some of the book was far fetched, but it wasn't that bad if you can look at some of the slightly unbelievable stuff like I did, as the distorted, funny, maybe even slightly exagerating side to Dave(He has an inner voice that seemed almost another character to me.) The general plot wasn't too hard to guess, but the ending was confussing. I feel that the last page was a let down, and should have been left out, as I had already guessed that what it "kinda it revealed" might have been the case.

Overall, a good read, I'm not usually into action novels, but it kept me entertained!

4 out of 5 stars Different but good.......2005-12-17

Good story with continuous action...............Kinda wierd but hides the secret well until the end.........Still somewhat mysterious at the conclusion.............Worth your time..........

2 out of 5 stars Completely absurd........2004-12-06

What happened in this book would never happen in real life. It was wrong on so many different levels. If you can completely suspend your disbelief perhaps you will like this book. There is a lot of action and the story keeps moving.

      Description:
A finite difference model based on a recently derived highly-accurate Boussinesq-type formulation is presented. Up to the third-order space derivatives in terms of the velocity variables are retained, and the horizontal velocity variables are re-formulated in terms of a velocity potential. This decreases the total number of unknowns in two horizontal dimensions from seven to five, simplifying the implementation, and leading to increased computational efficiency. Analysis of the embedded properties demonstrates that the resulting model has applications with errors of 2 to 3% for (wavenumber times depth) kh@?10 in terms of dispersion and kh@?4 in terms of internal kinematics. The stability and accuracy of the discrete linearised systems are also analysed for both potential and velocity formulations and the advantages and disadvantages of each are discussed. The velocity potential model is then used to study physically demanding problems involving highly nonlinear wave run-up on a bottom-mounted (surface-piercing) plate. New cases involving oblique incidence are considered. In all cases, comparisons with recent physical experiments demonstrate good quantitative accuracy, even in the most demanding cases, where the local wave steepness can exceed (waveheight divided by wavelength) H/L=0.20. The velocity potential model is additionally shown to have numerical advantages when dealing with wave-structure interactions, requiring less smoothing around exterior structural corners.

From the supplier: Democrats are advised to promote ideological labels associated with the Republicans to win elections. They should take into consideration that there are less conservatives than there are liberals, and that voters do not find labels comfortable. Moreover, they should adopt a positive populist economic theme in their campaigns that revolve around the public's opinion on the economy. They are also urged to advance changes in real, after-tax income to induce and condition voter behavior.

From the supplier: Garden fences can become attractive living walls covered with blackberry bushes, vining squash and cucumbers. Pole beans and grapes are other good choices for vertical gardens. Vining plants can also be grown on open wigwams made from bamboo poles.
